2018/2019 Season Program Announcements
sallycinnamon replied to kaeryth's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Ivett new programs from test competition this weekend (protocols: x and x) SP is a Bruno Mars medley FS is the soundtrack of the movie High Strung Her short programs have been crowd pleasing and fun in the past few seasons but still no warhorses (except last year's Carmen) which is good! Her LP is darker but I think this contemporary style suits her. I like the contrast between the two programs. The SP looks more complete now, but the free skate is still a bit empty. I hope she can stabilize her lutz this season because it is still not stable since she came back from her injury. And she will need that clean 3T-3T combo in the SP, too, without URs. -

He is coming back from a very serious injury so now I can only say health comes first and then we'll see when he will go for Nessie. A monster jump like the 4A takes a lot practice and the risk of any injury is very high so we don't really know when he will be able to land it. But as @Sombreuil says and others also mentioned, if he lands it then it will be beautiful with the best technique, and it will be historical. Though I'm not sure about a difficult entry (at least not for the first time) because landing it is on a completely different level of difficulty than anything else he's done so far - and the first step will probably be to land it correctly and without UR/DG or other serious errors.

2018/2019 Season Program Announcements

It sounds like it was influenced by 1980's synthpop but the production is very 2010s music. It's an interesting choice for Dai. I'm curious about the choreo, maybe it'll be something more abstract. Also the costume, will be it something modern like cyber swan was? -

ISU has published the updated SOV & GOE Guidelines (ISU Communication No. 2186) https://isu.org/communications/17795-2186-s-p-scale-of-values-levels-of-difficulty-and-guidelines-for-marking-goe-2018-19-replacing-2168/file They added the definition of serious error: Also this is new: So we have now serious and significant errors? They also added to ChStq second bullet point ('element matches the music') that it also reflects the concept/character of the program.- 6,825 replies

She said that her SP would be a strong program which shows charisma. Well I don't see lot of charisma in this program. Not yet... I read that with Zakrajsek it wouldn't be a permanent thing and she won't be moving to the US.

We'll see how he develops later in IN/PE too, it's just early to tell because he's still 13, that's so young. Now he's a bit of a mix but in technique I can see the Orser influences and here and there his skating reminds me of Javi's too. But yes, he's also a bit like Joubert was, strong in technique, but not really good at performing.

Also +2 and +5 for the sit spin. Scoring is a mess His style also reminds me of Javi's.

The music choice is a bit surprising, it's a bit serious and heavy, but I am very curious about the program itself and how he will interpret the and choreo and perform the program. This is Frampton's While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Great cover: -

Üdv itt (is)! A 1998-as szezonra már határozottan emlékszem.

It looks pretty good with Gogolev, Torgashev, Rukhin and Savosin in the men, Shcherbakova and You in the ladies...I think I'm going to Slovakia to watch them. -

In the name of the skaters' community, the Hungarian Skating Federation remembering Denis with a candle and a rose. It's still impossible to process how senseless his tragedy is, how he had to die....over absolutely nothing. He had dreams and plans, he could have done many interesting things in life because he was talented in many ways. And in one moment, it's all gone. There are no words for this, really. -

Terrible news. Praying for his health, I hope everything is going well with the surgery and he'll get better soon. -
What a mess. Even if their split was not amicable it's disappointing how they communicate it on their social media, especially that part about splitting/not splitting the gofoundme donation. I'm sorry for them because they were a promising couple and they're still young. After post-Olympics season with lots of retirements/semi-retirements, they could've got the chance to progress and get more opportunities.
