After (the stage in Sochi) Denis [Khodykin] caught a cold, there was a strong ARVI, they thought it was coronavirus, but no, he just got sick. We pass tests all the time, all negative. Withdrew from the Grand Prix because he was weakened and his health did not allow him to perform at full strength. Health comes first. Dasha (Pavlyuchenko) is doing all right, she is lively.

Now we are simultaneously solving his problem with the cruciate ligament. ARVI has passed, he deals with the knee, consults with various specialists. Everything piled up, the stage in Sochi went sideways for us. And they didn’t let me go there, since I’m 65+. In general, we will prepare for the Russian Championship

I saw that interview on Twitter and I just :headdesk:. How do they even determine how heavy or light the girls should be? Or do they just routinely tell them to lose half a kilo a week just for the hell of it?

Yeah  And how is one in charge of everything??? (I'm looking at Eteri here)

I do wonder if it is unique to Sambo-70 or common in other skating clubs too? This is toxic and total madness

The COVID situation in Russian skating is tragic and CoR still happens like nothing. Rusfed, ISU and the authority are out of their mind I have no words.

I refuse to watch CoR as I can't stand it, but seems like many who attend don't even wear masks properly. Dang do they know it can destroy an athlete's career :knc_brian3:

Or they think skaters have short career, having it shorter now doesn't matter?

Btw wish Zhenya quick recovery, it's around her birthday too that's sad. I'm worrying for Anya too. All Sambo should have a break and do thorough COVID test.

Wishing a speedy recovery to Zhenya, Anna, and the rest of Sambo if they got the virus... I think Zhenya's been showing symptoms for a while (she posted a story a few weeks ago iirc of her hanging out with a friend? And then went radio silent) So that's why she's been continuing to be tested...? Anyway she's young and fit so I think she'll recover, but with how many people in team russia getting it you'd think they'd be more careful instead of holding competitions without audience, skirting rules to hold their competitions, etc. :/ just hoping none of them get lasting symptoms, that would be devastating for any athlete. Of course, also hoping it doesn't spread to parents, grandparents, older coaches, etc...

Wow, wishing for a quick and full recovery for Zhenya.

And of course even after Zhenya had multiple false negative tests over days before she finally tested positive, Morisi was still sent to the competition, and I think we can reasonably expect Alina and Kamila to show up at the gala, as planned. No problems there, none at all :sipping:

Poor Zhenya has tested positive for covid.

Why would they be testing her regularly if she wasn't a close contact of a confirmed case? How are any members of Sambo allowed at CoR? They should all be quarantining right now.

I'd be surprised if yesterday's WD was due to pneumonia.

Well that just f*****g sucks. Excuse me for swearing, but this is upsetting. poor Zhenya can't catch a break this year, can she? I hope she recovers fully. The fact that she was tested repeatedly and still had symptoms even with a negative test is not great and sounds like she might have long COVID.

Lord have mercy, this has to end.

Then why would someone say she tested positive? Is she or isn't she? Either way, I hope she gets better.

If it was not COVID, they would say so.

3 weeks is a long time, sounds longer than the avg of 10 days for mild cases, so a bit worrisome. But she says she's feeling much better, so let's hope that's the end of it...
