  1. I'm proud of him. It's a big step to take after the long long career he's had, but he seems resolute and excited about the future. I was very happy to hear (read translations...) him talk about taking care of himself the way others have always cared for him. Now he won't be held back anymore and his horizons are truly limitless, and he can do what he wants without all the emotional pressure and disappointment that affected his mental health. I'm so eager to see what he does next! Thanks, kid
  2. A student of Mishin lands a clean fully rotated 4A at least 2-3 years ago, and is still capable of it or very close, and they have proof of it on camera to show anybody. There is never any hint about this monumental, first-time-in-history achievement happening, from one of the most gossipy, leaky, bragging skating communities in the world. When Yuzuru starts talking about his 4A quest for several years, and makes attempts in public from 2019 onward, not one single person makes a peep about "Well, he can try, but did you know Artur Dmitriev already--!" Mishin himself, instead of saying "I think the 4A is surely possible..." or "certain skaters are getting very close, we shall see..." says that he never expects to see anybody land a 4A in his lifetime. But didn't he already see the skater he advises doing it, more than once? If he wasn't there at the time, or Artur was training elsewhere, wouldn't he show Mishin the video? Or both Dmitrievs were keeping it as a big surprise from the honoured coach, as well as from all of Russian skating? Or was Dmitriev Sr. being sneaky with his words: the "clean landings" he has on video, and the "fully rotated" attempts, were in fact two different things? Who knows?
  3. Yuzu's birthday is over in Japan.....but not in Canada yet Happy birthday and thank you for inspiring us all, through good times and bad. May Ice-chan treat you sweetly and help you achieve everything you aim for.
  4. Fabric sample costumes.....help, I'm going overboard!
  5. While I'm making some more, have a.....thing..... You've heard of tribute programs! Now get ready for the most deserved SP tribute costume of all:
  6. I had some fun making costumes for the new program. Which means, pasting pieces of gowns from the runway onto him and moving them around I'm thinking of dark colours. These ones are purple and red. Dark green could look nice, too.
  7. This person said it was from another page of the pamphlet where there's an interview with Yuzu. We'll have to wait and see if someone will post a photo of it, but it doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility.
  8. It really is something only he can skate to because it was specially arranged for him This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  9. Wha-- this "sports analytics firm" originally predicted.....a TEAM GOLD for JAPAN in PYEONGCHANG and then downgraded to a silver? A silver for the TEAM event? In PYEONGCHANG? For JAPAN? And their predictions are still being published by legitimate news organizations?
  10. Let's give Marin Honda 6.75s in skating skills, that seems fine.....
  11. What on Earth happened with Kevin free skate? Is he injured?
  12. I watched this and it was fun! The question was: "who will dominate in the upcoming season, Yuzuru or Nathan?" Then for Yuzu she proceeded to pull: A man on a throne (The Emperor).....a man on a throne (The King of Swords).....and a man on a throne (The King of Wands). The Emperor: authority, wisdom, expertise, organization, orderly and systematic approach to solving problems The King of Swords: authority, insight, mental clarity and intellectual power unaffected by emotion, impartiality The King of Wands: authority, vision, energy, clear long-term goals, decisiveness, enjoying challenges And while she was shuffling, just as she said his name a card with a winged being on it sprang out of the deck: Temperance (balance and harmony in life, balance between masculine and feminine, patience, remaining calm under stress, long-term vision). That one didn't count but I think it should So, if you believe in tarot.....it sounds as though Boss Yuzu will be enthusiastically tackling a big challenge in a systematic and emotionally balanced fashion, while thinking with a clear head about his long-term goals.
  13. It's OK, your English is good! I'll try to practice my French by responding en francais, sorry my keyboard doesn't make accents. It's perfect music for an Olympics, imo.....it's Japanese, but the Swan Lake theme is super recognizable to North American and European judges and audiences. There's no excuse for them to be lazy and go "I can't understand or appreciate this because it's too Japanese for me," like with Tenchi. Also, it's dramatic, and as we all know adult Yuzu loves being dramatic (on the ice) as much as teenager Yuzu did. xD
  14. Thinking.....I would not hate it, at all, if Yuzu brought White Legend back as a SP with the revised choreography. Of all the music he's ever performed to in his career, it's one of the pieces I think suits him the best and never gets old.
  15. She uses a kitty heart eyes emoji for him. That means she is a true fan.
  16. Crying, I love Little Sparrow and that dress.....now do a full Yuzu, get rid of Tosca and go back to Invierno Porteno I will also accept The Planets/Star Wars!
  17. His agent has come a long way, from the days of making her client pretend that he got hacked to say foolish things, to now actually making her client acknowledge that he said foolish things.....
  18. Sekkisei's Ten to Chi to or Sekkisei's Origin 1.0? LMEY beginning pose or hand up beginning of Blinding lights? Waving with Pooh or social distancing with Pooh? On ice perspectives from PW practice or from Hana Wa Saku exhibition? (His pure skating was sublime.....better than in 2019.) Costume reveal or press conference? (More screaming) Pooh rain or ... Well, yes. On floor 3A or on ice 3F? In front of the white wall or in front of the painting backstage at JNats 2020? (The images are less grainy lol) LMEY final pose or Origin final pose? (Origin's pose is cool but it's too cursed of a program for me.) Spotlight at SCI 2019 ex or Starry audience at WTT 2021 ex? Brian's "I have no words!" or Tracy's "C'mon!" ? Forward "walking" Masquerade or forward crossrolls Seimei? Polo shirt in SOI or T-shirt in DOI? (Because the polo shirt was new for him, at least ) Masquerade "leather" costume FaOI or Masquerade costume DOI (more bling than second one from 2019 )? (The leather version was g o r g e o u s!) Hydroblade exit: one foot rise Masquerade DOI day 3 or gliding turn Intro DOI? (The best one is still the one foot exit from Ciontu finale though) Arabesque spiral SOI 2021 or Y-spiral Crystal Memories? White Lotte Ghana sweater or light-colored sweater FRaU? (They're both gigantic, but the FRaU one is a little more youthful vibe) Turn and stop mask in Masquerade or changing hand mask in Blinding lights? Scream R&J or Masquerade? (The R&J scream at Ciontu because you could hear it echo in the arena and the audience could actually react to it!!) Delayed Axel Crystal Memories or delayed Hanyu Axel Masquerade 2021? Glove throw down or up?
  19. I don't know what I was expecting, but it was not that
  20. I doubt this is the actual music, it's just the song that's playing over her video.....though if she truly is skating to Hannah Montana in an Olympic season she's a real trailblazer
  21. 1. Ten to Chi to or SEIMEI? 2. Let Me Entertain You or Let's Go Crazy? 3. Masquerade or Phantom of the Opera? 4. Pieces of a dream (from FaOI2018) or Blinding Light (from SOI2021)? 5. Origin 1.0 costume or Origin 2.0 costume? 6. Otonal 1.0 costume or Otonal 2.0 costume? 7. SEIMEI 2017-2018 costume or SEIMEI 2020 costume? 8. SEIMEI at PyeongChang or SEIMEI at MOI2019? 9. Ballade No.1 at 4CC2020 or Ballade No.1 at PyeongChang? 10. Parisienne Walkways at SCI2019 or Hope & Legacy at 4CC2020? 11. Again, 4Lo or 4Lz? 12. 4A (ultimate goal) or 3A (the best friend forever)? 13. Huscap or Zunda? 14. Koala or Ringo-maru? 15. 4T+1Eu+3F or 4T+3Aseq? 16. 3F right after 3A in SEIMEI2020 or 3Lo right after 3A+2T in Ten to Chi to? 17. Otonal Stsq or Ten to Chi to Stsq? 18. Citizen China or Gum for the Game? 19. Hakama or Slick back hair? 20. Never-give-up imagery training or soothing cool down in a flattering white jacket? 21. Haru yo koi Ina Bauer or Haru yo koi Hydroblading? 22. Ride a bicycle in manga or share your love for cats on a beauty blog?
  22. [NEWS] I watched the CBC broadcast of the Worlds gala and thought I would transcribe the commentators' words, for those who speak other languages or who might want to translate. https://www.cbc.ca/player/sports/figure skating "Road to the Olympic Games: 2021 World Figure Skating Championships - The Gala" video Commentators: Brenda Irving, Kurt Browning, Carol Lane Some of the performances in this broadcast were moved around and some were cut. Yuzu was the second-last skater shown. He appears around 1:23:00. Unlike many of the other performances from this broadcast, none of the commentators spoke a single word during Yuzu's performance. BI: An absolutely lovely skate by the 2-time World and Olympic champion, and you know, the less I hear from the two of you, the better the skate I know it is. KB: He had me at "konnichiwa." [A joke referring to a famous line "you had me at hello" from the movie "Jerry Maguire," which one character says to another to tell him she still loves him.] CL: I don't really know what that was about, and I don't care. KB: Don't care. CL: Because it was just so beautiful. KB: So many lovely moments, so calm, so peaceful, great acting with his face. (CL: Yes.) I think what - that story he was telling, he believes in it from the bottom of his blades. (CL: Yes.) That was beautiful. ["From the bottom of his blades": a joke referring to the saying "from the bottom of your heart", meaning he believes in what he's doing with his whole heart.] CL: So authentic and just - joyous. There was a joyousness through the whole thing. KB: And this triple Axel was a flourish - to have the camera that close and to be a part of it, it was so exciting. ["a flourish": Kurt probably means that the 3A wasn't even really needed but was another beautiful/cool thing Yuzu showed he could do well, on top of what was already in the program, like a "cherry on top."] * I like their comments here because it speaks to the discussion that has been happening about the use of "ethnic" or non-Western music. Some prominent people have spoken up about Asian skaters using Asian music, saying that it's a bad choice because it won't be understood by non-Asian people and therefore will not be appreciated. Carol and Kurt did not seem to have that problem at all. They admitted they had no idea what the program was about, couldn't understand the lyrics, but they loved it anyway and were captured by the way Yuzu was emoting. Kurt understood that Yuzu was telling a story and was moved by it, even if he didn't know what that story was. That is how figure skating should be. The story doesn't have to be relevant to your culture in order for you to appreciate it!
  23. This was a great thread, thanks for sharing it. When I saw H&E for the first time I was struck by how unique it was, both the music and the unconventional 'journey' of the program. And I also thought to myself "oh boy, a lot of white people are not even going to try to understand this, they'll just say it's too Japanese and boring." Lo and behold.....
  24. LGC doesn't have a "shake" but it does have a very effective "wiggle" (see "at least you got friends") which could suffice if he did something similar in LMEY. Strawberry also has something very cute at 4:36 which can't be called either because it's a byproduct of foot movements, but is maybe a "shimmy", or a "swivel."
