Oh I believe it, it looks less like a training shirt than normal. It's still a training shirt type, just not as grey.

Yeah that's what I was thinking

A brownie with powered sugar on top. At least it's reminding us of sweet stuff, and not too training gear-progress, Pchiddy, progress!

Patrick's 3axel was UR and the caller missed it :13877886: Also, Patrick didn't display his usual SS, it looks like he concentrated on his tech mostly in training, which is totally fine and makes sense, but don't give him those PCS. 45 for that program and execution was generous IMO.

J7 threw candy at almost everybody. J9 threw GOE at Jason, but didn't give him all 9s PCS. But j9 was stingy with PCS to everybody. Gave 8s for Chiddy and Shoma too. I really wonder if they each judge with different preconceived ceilings for PCS for each skater. J9 seems to take PCS more seriously and but throws GOE at jumps well done/forgives more jump bullet points.

J5 seems strict but kind of fair - didn't buy Shoma's transitions, however. J8 is fucking drunk because they gave Chiddy a 9 for skating skills and gave Shoma a 9.5 for it. In fact J8 gave Chiddy two 8.75s and one 8.5. Where's J8 from? J8 had it in for Chiddy, scored Jason higher than Chiddy and scored Shoma higher on every single part of PCS. That's just not fair, that's personal. I don't like Patrick Chan all that much but that's ridiculous.

J2 was just silly, three 10s, and 8.5 for Jason for skating skills. Really, J2? Really?

I think the PCS judging is more problematic than the GOEs...is there anything to be done to improve it? =S

Guys I think Patrick said in knc that that was not his costume

Should I take that as "this shirt is too fanciful, my costume is more dull" or "I'm finally wearing a real costume but it got lost"?

Hopefully the latter:acceptable:

There's still the free for  patrick. I hope he skates as usual and for shoma, look at that chicken leg he got:rofl:but even clean it was far from the wr yet... but i hope he doesn't burn the fuel too early... i just woke up and the thread is only at 13 pages:laughing: easy to catch up..

I'm gonna be real disappointed if Itsuki someone doesn't sneak a picture of Shoma napping on his chicken leg at some point.

shoma getting higher score for skating skills than pchiddy is just wtf

pchiddy deserved better

I blinked at Jason getting higher (ETA: PCS from that judge) than Pchiddy, too, and I adore Jason's skating and think he's the fluffiest of all beautiful and pure unicorns. If it weren't for our Overlord, I'd be all for Jason. That judge's cup/glass/mug/flask needs testing.

I checked the countries too and wow. J9 was Japan but scored Shoma and Pchiddy fairly close to each other,  J2 was the French judge, throwing candies at everyone (might have hit 3 10s by accident?). I'm not sure how to read the political implications of this anymore.

J7 wished good will for everyone, so I guess since everyone got equal share of candies it's at least consistent? Honestly, the reasonable ones, in my opinion, seem to be J3, J4 and J6.

I'm catching up on things and watching videos and so far have seen Shoma and Patrick.

Congrats to Shoma for winning the SP (as if he wouldn't). This was probably the best 4F I've seen from him to the point I actually enjoyed the jump past its technique. And the upgrade to his costume from grey to black pants makes such a difference; like it so much more now. Winter is continuing to be a lovely program, despite knowing some people think it boring. To be honest, as far as new SP programs go, Nathan's still my favorite, but I love Winter too, more than Turandot 2.0, actually. If he'd hit that 4T3T combo, Shoma would have scored around 106+ and he will definitely improve and get up to 108-109 by GPF/Olympics if he keeps delivering like that. I still have some trouble distinguishing if he has any actual immediately preceding steps in his solo quad but he does do something with his feet before it so I guess that counts.

I am surprised he got better PCS than Patrick. Not by much but he got them. I think Patrick being less than clean doesn't help him much anymore and aside from the 3T pop, Shoma was clean. Winter does seem to allow for more intense projection from Shoma than Dust in the Wind allows from Patrick. Shoma also does have great edges and speed and the knee bend action that allows for that flow I love on skaters (that, for example, Nathan doesn't quite have) but I still wouldn't have put him at only 0.10 difference in SS from Patrick.

Patrick's SP was lovely as always. I really love to watch him skate, especially focusing on his feet. It's a joy. I do think I prefer his FS over his SP again this season. And Patrick is such a poster boy for how lowering tech or using the same tech for years doesn't help being clean, at all.

I've the feeling Shoma is going to be consistent all season and his scores will rise with that. His FS today will likely be clean with maybe a couple of shakier landings and I predict him to hit 300+ again. Not as high as Lombardia because he'll be missing 5 points in BV but 300+ nonetheless.

As a Yuzu fan, though, and seeing the trends in scoring in past competitions, the only thing I can say is that he's going to need to deliver a bit more 'consistently' than he's been able to from now on, if he wants to keep ahead. I don't mean going squeaky clean all the time. I mean, mostly, not popping things. And maybe going clean with his SP more often too. This doesn't mean he can't go into the Olympics, hit his only two clean programs in the season and still win, but it might make it much harder for him. Judges want some excitement for the Olympics and Shoma and Nathan, as the closest contenders in terms of both tech and rising PCS, will likely keep on delivering increasingly through the season and thus they will be closing in on the GOE and PCS differences to the top guys. We already see Shoma winning the PCS here against Patrick Chan, though with Patrick having been sloppy, I'm not at all surprised.

My prediction for the GPF is that Shoma and Nathan will qualify with two golds and the rest will have a mix of medals.

Even though they bring a lot to the table, something about Shoma and Marin being the next "chosen ones" slightly irritates me. And I don't think I can ever unsee that flip technique. It's a good thing competition brings the best out of Yuzu, because the JSF/USFS hype train is as bad as expected.

Patrick's SS just astonish me. Everyone except Yuzu is so far beneath him.

I like new Shoma's costume, the all gray one was too much on the cold/boring side.

So patrick wasn't wearing his costume, am I right? (The pics of comparison are hilarious :smiley-laughing021:)

And a pity for CJH, but his troubles are to be expected I guess, with him not being 100%. So sorry to hear about Brian.:tumblr_inline_mzx91uuLRI1r8msi5:

Now time to watch the performances

:tongueyuzu:you and I both, girl. Don't want to get ovely critical on the judging but it really is hard not to feel slightly  :salty: over the discrepancy in judging Yuzu on both TES and PCS received versus almost everyone else but esp. "the next chosen ones"...it's not to the point of "scandalo!" YET(well the PCS here is a bit...) but it's definitely there and it's quite alarming.

And you bet Yuzu heard that alarm way sooner and louder than any of us. Hope he can bring his A game and deliver what he planned!
