[2017] GP Rostelecom Cup - Men Short Program

Featured Replies

Am I the only one who think his performance wasn't that bad at CoR? I don't know but I feel calm and glad that he wasn't popped his jumps. That's an improvement. I feel happy for that. But feel sad because I know yuzu must be feel kuyashii inside (Well, not that kuyashii compare SP at SC2015 ). I won't be worried now. Because this is his first GPS. I will worry if he bombed at GPF or Olympic (count National at this too).

I think he'll be fine. I trust him . :tumblr_inline_ncmifaymmi1rpglid:

I actually love his new chopin costume :smiley-love017: he looked so charming.

I have to say that I am really put off by several of the critical comments of Yuzu here. You expect him to skate every program perfectly up to and including the Olympics?

He's a human being, not a fucking robot.

Everyone on here just wants Yuzu to succeed, though some comments are harsher than others it's still all out of expectation and love for him. I'm sure he'll do better tomorrow. Let us all put our hands together and pray for a clean Seimei performance, I'm sure if we all pray hard enough Yuzu will gain back the strength to wow us yet again :)  (If not, then we'll move on).

sorry if i seemed harsh. >_> it's hard to not worry about him, that's all.

What I like most about Yuzuru's skating is his emotion, focus and confidence. When he hits those three things we get magical performances like ACI Chopin and Worlds H&L, but these things are not easy to come by for someone who feels the music and his choreography. I personally like Yuzuru as he is with his good and bad skates because that what makes him special. I don't want him to be calculated or mechanical just to be clean every time. it is impossible for a sensitive person to be mentally in the same space every time, and losing that sensitivity for better technical performance is the greater loss IMO.

I think his performance today was good even with the mistakes. When I read the comments I see things like he was off, slow or nervous but I watched the SP few times and even fan cams and I don't see it. Yes he was not as engaging as he was at ACI but so what? record performances are not the standard and should not be what he is judged against.

I just got back on (real life swooped in and killed me the whole day) and I'm tired and was looking forward to some lovely backtracking to see what I had missed. But the environment looks a little . . . . strained . . . right now and I can't deal with that after today. Going to watch some cute Yuzu vids and off to bed. Hopefully the planet will be a happier place tomorrow.... this really does make me quite sad.

Best of luck to Yuzu tomorrow! May he come out of COR feeling contented with himself and motivated to move forwards!

About being worried. When he fell and I was in the arena I just wanted to stop all this (music, time, world) in order to run and check if he was ok. Because nothing else matters, really. Maybe I'm crazy.  But it is how it is.

He's like a main hero in the story/movie/manga.:hachimaki:

Facing the difficulties at the beginning but at the end he gets all the glory within him. If he always skates clean perhaps people will find it boring.  That's why I feel that his winning at Helsinki was spectacular. Movie like.

I always love this quote "when yuzuru is on his jumps are sensational when he's off his falls are spectacular".

I think this is gonna happen quite often in the future, but it's completely normal. Everyone copes in different ways, everyone loves him in a different way, and lives his skating in a different way. Also, everyone reacts to mistakes in a different way. We can't agree on everything.

We've already agreed that we can't really stop people from sharing their feelings here, whether those feelings are of disappointment, doubt, anger or anxiety. The only thing I can say is that if you bring such feelings in the thread, don't expect them to go unnoticed

Agree with you.

I love this planet. Because we can share our feeling toward yuzuru here and people still respect each other. :tumblr_inline_ncmifaymmi1rpglid:

Finally caught up with the thread. I am absolutely exhausted watching every SP today in all disciplines :13877886:.

I think that doing Chopin for a third time is beginning to look like a mistake. :slinkaway:Especially given how he skated it this morning he's not doing himself any favors. As a Hanyu fan I was not impressed and it didn't look like the judges were either. If you're going to do a program for a third season you better sell the heck out of it. You have to skate it clean otherwise you're not justifying why you're using it. I know many will say Hanyu always had a slow start at the beginning the season. I'm well aware of his track record however he can't afford to make errors like that anymore when he's gotten Nathan Chen and Shoma Uno and many others nipping at his heels now he does not have a fall/mistake cushion anymore that doesn't exist.

WR at ACI and today's PCS confirm that judges are not tired of Chopin. Do they really care so much about repeated programs as we do? We discuss it a lot here but after all it's Yuzu forum.

I agree with those who think that with a new SP it probably would have ended exactly like SC2016 and that one was much more painful.  Looking back at the previous season with so many pops in SP I was half expecting popped 4Lo. And when he landed it I actually felt relieved.  Judging by his interview I don't think he will have the same mental block with Chopin as he had with LGC. We are comparing this perfomance against ACI Chopin, but my overall impression is not bad.

For tomorrow I just want him to rotate that opening 4Lz, fall or not.

:embSwan:i am going to see this golden neck gorgeous blue angel (king) in Nagoya :embSwan:

Just thinking about this, I am :dpooh:

I love the new costume...

At least Men event is not as predictable as Ladies

Helsinki was epic, I will never forget those three days when I ascended from hell to heaven.  Sometimes I think these deep emotions he awakens in people explain in some way why he gets so much love. How many fans stopped breathing today with the first notes of Chopin? His losses make his wins even more spectacular and unforgettable.

ETA TAT praised him a lot today, especially StSq.
