Ok today happened, spilt milk and all, but hopefully they can sit down and figure out the problem so that this does not repeat.

The only thing that comes to mind, honestly? Some therapy  Yuzuru is the best skater there is. But when his mind betrays him, through anxiety or overthinking or even dissociation or whatever - there's nothing to be done. To me, this is pretty clear. When he talks about 'the zone', he merely means "feeling calm". At least, this is what I think.

So, until Yuzuru figures out his own emotions and needs and anxieties, he's going to be like this - one day a WR, one other day, not.

Can't say I wasn't expecting this, though of course I feel sad for Yuzu. With all the focus on 4Lz I felt the SP wasn't going to be smooth. What I was really hoping was that he did all the required elements and he did, and no pops, so I should feel contented... though that UR call really worries me:tumblr_inline_n18qr5AMus1qid2nw:

Btw Nathan was very good, I like his sp and today he skated it very well:clap:

For tomorrow I just hope for a strong skate, one Yuzuru can feel contented with, if not proud. Though proud would be nice. I will add to my "please no pops" also "please no UR" and "no edge issues on flip".:snonegai:

was that boy who stood in front of yuzu after he skated plushenko's son?

I feel like it must have been for him to have been confident enough to just hover around Yuzu waiting to be acknowledged (or else they hired a flower boy who did not do his job LOL)

I don't think the other men are all that consistent either. Who is more so? And I disagree that Yuzu is being victimized by the scoring. Today was just meh for him. Yes, other skaters will catch him if he makes mistakes, but that's okay, we already knew it. He shouldn't automatically win no matter what (that would be like the PChiddy heyday—oops, shh, I like him now).

i agree, the other men are not all that consistent, why is yuzuru the only one facing this "inconsistent" narrative?! it frustrates me so much.

maybe too soon to joke, but i guess yuzuru either sets a new high or new low when he skates. it's either a WR or the lowest score since ___. :13877886:

Ehmm but guysss this is his 1st gp.. am I the only who feels relieved he actually gets above 90 points  :tongueyuzu:

I mean for the past 2 years, his sp score was just ... low

now that you mentioned it. he looks like plushenko's son.

also random thoughts, he should just repeat PW, because that program literally has no mental problems. lol. :smiley-laughing021:

:/ Judging was fair. Nathan was better today.

I won't be worried unless he bombs Seimei again, however.

And he's not repeating the exact same programmes. I can't believe I sound like all the annoying interviews Brian gave a couple of months ago, but choreo for both have changed, training the lutz has wobbled his loop, his lutz is still not completely dependable, and this was the first Chopin ever attempted in competition with the 4lo as the first jump. The music is the same and the interpretation is the same, but the step sequences have been levelled up and the jumps are different. That's pretty different for him to skate to, I expect. And he fell on the second jump of the combo, which is better than losing the combo.

If he does bomb Seimei, though, I'm dead.

I agree with this :/ something seemed very off.

And well, the score isn't bad, but it doesn't set a good precedent in terms of what he can do and what he's trying to accomplish this season :/

There's still work to do,  I guess.

I don't think he looked VERY off. he certainly seemed more off, at, say WTT SP. Yuzu always looks nervous...

because you cannot attack him on other places. no place to attack. Zuzu is that perfect

Positives: 90+ points, NO POPs, no invalidated combo
