Exactly. And in the FS, he's debuting the 4Lz, which in itself is a risk right out of the gate.

I mean I don't know, but I get the feeling some here are way, way underestimating other skaters here. Not to mention that he has, rightly or wrongly, a rep for inconsistency. This is one of the things Chopin is suppose to fix. And no he cannot work his way up. The point was not to have to do this. The point was to start relatively strong and inch to the top. Ah well.

Okay, rewatched the SP in Youtube, and yeah, that 4Lo was bad. Sorry Yuzu, I can't stand on your side on this one. But I don't think it's UR-though, that landing would have garnered negative GOE anyways. So fair is fair, he would not have broken 100 this time.

He also needs to explain the rationale behind the gold accessory/icicle thingies on his collar.

The only thing I can chalk it up to is that it's his first time doing 4Lo in Chopin and his first real SP run in competition with his actual layout. He can go see=saw all he wants but he has to go relatively clean at GPF, at least cleaner than other guys.

He is the WR holder on both programs so of course the expectations would be high, but he should be aware of it and stop overthinking stuff.

I love Yuzu's emotionality, but sometimes, he needs to just be less emotional, like the ACI Chopin with next to no emotionality, and less head games.

Yuzuru was never like that, though, wasn't he? I mean, I think all of you old time fans (I'm in since last year so I don't know anything) kind of expected him not to go full out and win everything in october, right? If it's his pattern, I can take it... since it has worked so far (injuries aside) to make him win what was important for him.

Also, he can't afford to have another mental block for the SP, now with Chopin.

This is my biggest worry tbh and why I wanted him to go clean in the SP here

I felt like he wasn't ready when the music started...

He was practicing his 4lo twice

because PRETTY SHINY :10636614:

Can we just have a moment of silence for Nathan...who has to skate after Yuzu AGAIN :crazyshit2:

If they continue with this,  I'll be fine with them not changing the scoring system. But -2.06 GOE for Yuzu's 4Lo was too much imo...I don't think other skaters would be penalized as hard for a similar landing.

And I miss 4T-3T(rippon)...ACI Chopin was magical. Let's hope tomorrow will be awesome!

Judges are harsh to Zuzu as always..

I'm not going to worry until we see what happens in the FS. But yes, he was wound too tight, wanted it too much, and that didn't help him get it.

I think we are.

Especially Nathan and US Fed. That was a really good short for him. Very very smart choice. If he keeps skating like that that, the publicity/politicking will increase, and with his TES it will be very hard to win with any mistakes.

i get that that's the plan, but i always feel like Yuzu is getting too much hyper-scrutiny. other skaters have fubbed their early-season comps as well (and nobody else has set a WR like yuzu has), but they don't get this kind of reputation. i'm concerned that all of this messes with his mood and concentration, which i feel is the No. 1 factor leading to mistakes for him.

Can't say I'm happy because Chopin is there precisely to try and prevent this. Still, not terrible and it's fine for now: he's not going to always skate clean, that's just not how it goes for him and the kind of content he's attempting. Pity about the combo tho, I was expecting trouble only with the 4Lo after what we've seen in practices :slinkaway:

(But hey, finally a +3 3A! It's something.)
