You can repeat that all you like but you're not going to get them to drop it. That NBC article had that precisely for a reason. There's nothing else to go after but the 'consistency' issue. And when you have Nathan skating clean against him, that's going to boost the PR picture that is being created. This is how Olympics are won and lost. There's a battle in the rink but there's a battle outside of it too.

I mean, Yuzuru himself is banging on and on about necessary consistency. He isn't doing that for no reason. And if Yuzuru says it's important, then I think we should listen to him.

It's the first GP, so it's not the end of the world, far from it but it's a very good warning

i don't expect NBC to drop it, of course they don't and won't act in yuzuru's interests. what i hope is for Yuzuru's fans to drop it and not back the (false) PR picture created. as you said this is a super important issue that may decide a win or loss at the olympics, so i feel like it's important not to let this narrative get out of hand.

i think its important for yuzuru to get more consistent of course, but we shouldn't help NBC push this untrue "inconsistency" narrative.

I think he would. He said he's read plenty of phsychology books. I don't know how therapy is viewed in Japan, but I believe him sensitive enough to know a bit of self research wouldn't damage him at all. This said, I think he might do it, if he ever will, after being pro.

We've seen him meditating, yup... saw how that went  I believe meditation can only help him with his asthma problems. But anxiety goes deeper.

This said, I close the psycho parenthesis because after all I don't think he is a severe case - he is capable of being strong and creating something beautiful.

I get slightly triggered (irritated) when people don't consider the mind factor at all though. Mistakes have nothing to do with new or old programs. Being clean or not being clean only depends on the mind.

So, tbh, I'm not surprised at all to see Yuzu still making mistakes. It was never about LGC or Chopin or whatever. It was always about him.

Pretty incredible if he was planning to fix all his comp patterns in one season (which are shaped by mental associations as much as they are about physical conditioning). Honestly, very unlikely to happen, even if he's shown us it is definitely possible.

I definitely think the program choices were partly an experiment to see if a familiar program would help alleviate that first comp anxiety and, relatively speaking and judging by their reactions, I'd say it was better than expected. Again, I think we just need to take a step back, calm down and consider things in perspective. And also wait for the FS before we jump to any concrete conclusions.

it's clear now that his issues have nothing to do with the program / music.

i hope he has someone to talk to about this, it would be great if he had a sports psychologist, but really anyone who is understanding and wise will do.

personally, i think a talk with his mom will do, maybe, i hope. usually mama hanyu made him reconsider things from new perspective, i remember he said he talked w his mom after his sp at worlds 2012

btw, the quality of August practice was really good...It is good that Yuzu starts dealing with mental blocks since the beginning of the season...

glad SP is over 90+! improvement from 70+

Let's see how he goes in the FS tomorrow before we get too dire about the media narrative being crafted - this makes NHK more dire in that he has to do well but he's faced this before too. The team don't seem too shocked/negative about it so I'm hoping that's a good sign

Well, I'm not sure what Brian is thinking but he certainly behaved properly, there's no point in putting even more stress on Yuzuru's shoulders.

Oh I don't think it'll be dire even if he flubs the FS tomorrow (it'll give them ammo for sure but 1st GP so it's not crucial, there's plenty of room for bouncing back), but it would certainly put more pressure on NHK. I just wish he had left more room for himself for the FS due to the Lz but it is what it is.

Evil NBC conspiracy theory! No way he would chuck it, right? Omg... he is dead to me if he chucked a tiny cute kid's drawing...
