I had no plans for tonight, but am fighting the desperate urge now to rewatch the movies... again (only rewatched them a couple of weeks ago). I have them in high quality, maybe I should try and screencap a few shots sometime. Hohum. I really don't need this in my life. I already wasted two hours this afternoon practicing Ballade no 1 some more. (and actually recorded it, I want proof that I've made progress when I record it again around the Olympics).

BTW most of the hockey players left before Yuzu's group

Well...that's ok since Yuzu had a pop concert. It's only a pity if they missed out on his Chopin, which they already did.

What happened? Oh, I'll tell you what happened.

ONLY THE BIGGEST JUDGING SCANDOLO IN THE HISTORY OF FIGURE SKATING!

My boy got 6s MAX for his interpretation! I will give $1mil to whoever can give me a non-bullsh*t answer as to why the most definitive and iconic NBC program in history that made everyone who saw it relive every moment of that movie didn't deserve perfect 10s in that area! (Judges not having seen NBC doesn't count though would explain things.)

ETA Also, choreography, because it was the most amazing thing you ever saw.

They should be forced to watch the movie. :RockingDeath: (closest emoji I can find to Jack Skellington)

Actually if we think again, how could someone do perfect program when he just practice new layout in three days. He tried two triples at beginning for first time at AC. For Chopin already comfortable with the layout so it's easy for him. But for SEIMEI it's difficult. Happy to know he said this is first good competition.

Agree! And he has practiced Chopin so much more during FaOI shows. It'll be exciting to watch Seimei 2.0 when Yuzu doesn't have to water down the jumps.

I felt a sudden urge to watch the Onmyoji movie.... and then I couldn't find it anywhere. My googling skills are in the constant state of being the first messed up :pancake: :smiley-laughing021:

There's a link to both movies in page 9(?) of the Seimei thread in the forum. I need to watch movie 2 still.

Maybe Yuzu is not the skaters who great at changing FS layout shortly before the comp. He always has a fix layout right at the beginning, go all out, have many mistake and fix it one by one. May be he couldn't do the same thing like Nathan/Shoma, who has 7093828 FS layout each season.

Reading Yuzu's interview, I feel he's a bit annoy about watering down layout. And I think Kozuka's comment is on point, because Yuzu is a rhythm jumper. His program is full of transition so it's harder to change the jumps in a short time. But If it's necessary decision for his knee's condition right now, I can take it over anything. This is a lesson for him and his team, they need to find a more suitable plan if the same situation happen again. I think most people are kind/not too harsh to him after this bad FS.

To me, every step in his program is meaningful not like  a lot of two foot skating or crossovers in some empty programs. If jumps change, everything else will change. Empty programs allow for easy layout change. Yuzu lacks of training these day, clean program should not be expected. Wondering if he actually did a full runthrough of "new" layout before the competition? :xD: Because Yuzu is a rhythm skater (not just jumper:clap:), we are able to see masterpieces.

It seems kind of controversial but to me the new Seimei costume is an improvement in every way - it basically got rid of /changed what I didn't like about the first one and added that beautiful golden (flower?) embroidery which is :tumblr_inline_nhkf04zUM41qid2nw:
I'm a little disappointed only because it's more of an update than a new costume but if this is the final design I'd be more than happy with it! (with gloves please, though  :10636614:)

I can't overstate how much I love it!! It's just :tumblr_inline_nhkf04zUM41qid2nw: in every way. Black would probably have been nice but I don't think I'd love it more, prob about the same? If you compare the two versions, he looks much fuller in this one :devil3:

He  intended wearing gloves but he was in the process of putting them on just before the warm up when he realised they were both right gloves...so we we will see them next time.. ..there is a weibo vid of what happened.. the face he made.....:yznotimpressed:

Man, I can't even imagine how you all felt when Yuzu lost at Boston or when he got 5th at World's for the SP. I'm watching him get second at a challenger series and can barely handle it...But NO MATTER! There's still time to improve.

Boston is why I'm able to treat this as "oh well" as it gets. In the end I still had a ton of fun and I do enjoy watching him skate, especially in all of the practices. Though that does make it two for two that anytime I've see Seimei live it's been a disaster . Kinda making me feel like a bad luck charm.

But mostly I'm just taking it in stride that I got to see my fave break a world record free skate and a world record SP before my very eyes in back to back experiences.  That was really more than I was expecting and I am a lucky fan. I still have a ton of pics to upload and more video to upload but I put real life on pause for this so I'm playing catch up with that right now. My group ended up on tv after all (though I wasn't in it but I'm not upset because the main thing on my mind was that I'd probably looked terrible in that lighting ).  But yeah, above all I just want our boy to be well and to be happy.

I also ended up on the plane with a lot of Team Japan officials and the media. Yoshiko Kobayashi, who will remain forever epic for that Sochi K&C moment, was there too. I sat next to a girl who is from Sendai so she was telling me how she's seen him around town (when he's in town) and even shared a flight with him!  I was speaking Japanese the entire time and it was great practice, haha. And Westerners kept looking at me (guess it's always weird to see non-Japanese people speaking it). I made so many Japanese friends and a lot are going to the Olympics too so we'll meet again there.

can I say that I love the new costume after many views ...

some more thought on the program, I was sitting on the judges side right behind the vip rows so I saw the judges kept touching the red buttons on their screen for any bad landing or fall. I was talking to myself, please judges, stay away from those red things when Yuzu skates! when it was time for him to get out to the ice, as soon as the door opened, he zoomed out in great speed just like a young black horse released to the race! I tried to watch him as much as possible not bothering with pic or vid, but still, I took so many pics with my phone ( thank you , phone clerk for convincing me to get 128 gig so I don't have to worry about memory!) ,  before the costume revealed I zoomed in and saw the familiar purple collar beneath his UA but I was focusing on the program and didn't think much of it until he took off the jacket and I was blind with the sparkling ! I'm telling you, it was really shinny.  Anyway, my heart was thumping the whole time since the epic pose to the end, I heard the collective gasp when he popped the first jump and then my emotion took over and I just felt so devastated . when he fell on the 3A, i was like " Et tu, Brute ?" I felt like crying to see him fell and tried to push himself up from the ice. It just hit me hard. all the way till the end,... I was really concerned about his state of mind but I think he could feel and hear the support from the audience.  When it was Javi 's turn, I was a mess and kept looking at Yuzu intensely doing all the movements by the K&C and didn't focus on Javi at all. when it was time for the ceremony, the vip people cleared out of those rows so  I was able to move down to the first row right behind the judges. He was very close right in front of me, I really missed the jumping onto the podium,..

Anyway, it was a roller coaster ride of emotion but after reading so many analyses about pancake and saw him not too sad,  " I'm happy now"

Some tips for ACI,

I need cushion for sitting on the wooden bench, until now my behind is still a bit sore ( spin class is not for me for the same reason)

I should have walked around more to improve my chance to run into other skaters! also bring small notebook with you at all time to get autographs ( I had Tracy's on a blank envelope, and Nam's on a piece of borrowed note paper, Thank you @Floria sorry, please forgive me for not preparing )

I should not have taken too many pics of other skaters as practice without being aware of the limited memory on my camera ( kuyashii when I run out of memory at the end)

Never underestimate the fans's power, Those fans who lined up even before the comp ended on Friday evening ( saw myself on Twitter in line waiting and smiling like an idiot), despite the effort of @yuzuangeland me, we couldn't beat the pooh people whose camera clicking like machine guns next to my ears at Yuzu ...

I was nervous getting warned couple of times for videotaping so at Seimei and the ceremony I didn't dare to record too much, basically just rest my phone on the metal bar and adjusted from time to time so I could watch him without looking at the screen, result : recording a lot of ice floor and space  just empty space:sadPooh: turn out in the end those security guards took mercy on desperate fans and completely ignored us ( me)

On a side note, when asked to sign a banner together with other satellites, I wrote Yuzuru Hanyu instead of my name:facepalm:, So sorry, my mind and heart are fully occupied,...

Meeting other satellites and sharing the experience  made this first comp a thousand times better, love love all of you

Until next comp!
