February 18, 20224 yr 😭I have a houseful for lunch tomorrow- assumed that it would be the middle of the night - so I’m going to miss tomorrow- really hope S/H do it .

It’s always impressive the way he makes her fly but they are nowhere near as expressive as S/H The pcs difference between T/M and Sui/Han is honestly laughable, looking at it, but it's hard to feel surprised and outraged at biased scoring these days, it's so ubiquitous. I'm going to try and just enjoy this magical sp and ignore everything else for the moment.
February 18, 20224 yr Well, at least Kirsten and Mike are through to the final. Hope they have a great day tomorrow
February 18, 20224 yr On the question why figure skating isn't more popular in China... well, if people see this kind of BS like in these Olympics, namely a doping scandal, abuse of minors, unfair and biased scoring and judging, preferential treatment for Russians and Americans, etc., then this will certainly not motivate people to watch more figure skating or let their children do it.

She *blessed* us with Morisi, who thanks to her is now one of the top skaters???? And ice dance with her daughter who is being overscored thanks to her too and stole the Olympic spot due to that... She is everywhere and it makes me sick to see her eternal resting bitch face all the time.

February 18, 20224 yr I truly don't get why there are only two 10s in Sui/HAn components. What more they can do? They have literally everything a pair team can have in this area and they skated perfect program. If I were a judge I would give them only 10s without any doubt as they truly deserve them, they have all the skills, they are unique and special, memorable, their choreo and interpretation is second to none plus that chemistry that can kill. Tarasova/Morozov may be somewhere near in the skating skills, speed and technical elements execution, but they don't have such an impact as a team, they lack chemistry, they do a great job but this super special factor is not there, the one that belongs to a pair that make you feel sth and remember their programs, a goat factor. Sui/Han have it.

I think the main issue is that most of the country doesn't have access to an ice rink. Those only exist in big cities or up north. Figure skating has gotten a lot more popular with Yuzu though. I wonder if it'll lead to a stronger crop of skaters in the singles disciplines a decade or so down the line

Sui/Han have it. Thinking back to a comment made at PC - can’t remember who or which discipline- they ‘have to hold back some marks in case a later competitor skates better’. I don’t agree with this if true - certainly the way they marked P/J here suggests it is true. Sometimes think they might as well have stuck with the old scoring system if they aren’t going to actually implement their own protocols.
February 18, 20224 yr Cute to see Gabi Papadakis came to cheer for Sui/Han, she's a faithful fan. Also - taste

I agree, I think this may be it. Looking at the medal count for China in summer Olys (they were second to US) and now in Beijing they are not doing bad as well, it shows they are very good in developing structure for the Oly athletes. I expect FS will be next on the line, as soon as they get the structure in place. It's just baffling, since they already have such great pairs for a long while and men are doing reasonably well too. Why not ladies? So strange. One would think putting in place similar system to Russia would not be an issue in China (without the unhealthy culture though, one can hope).
