Looking at the medal count for China in summer Olys (they were second to US) and now in Beijing they are not doing bad as well, it shows they are very good in developing structure for the Oly athletes. I expect FS will be next on the line, as soon as they get the structure in place. It's just baffling, since they already have such great pairs for a long while and men are doing reasonably well too. Why not ladies? So strange. One would think putting in place similar system to Russia would not be an issue in China (without the unhealthy culture though, one can hope). They probably make most of the promising young women do pairs. Honestly, given the state of the women's discipline, I feel like they should keep doing that. They'll have a longer and healthier career I wouldn't say men are doing that well. There was Boyang, but afaik there's no one really coming up in juniors to replace him.
February 18, 20224 yr Block judging is back - Russia, Israel and Hungary put Sui/Han on 3rd place and Belarus on the 2nd place. Russia gave 86.31 to T/M lol. Anyway, the Israeli judge, Anna Kantor also has a Hungarian name (though I think she lives in the Ukraine).
February 18, 20224 yr Sui/Han mentioned Yuzu at press con (or interview, not sure). I stan GOAT club members respecting and looking up to each other - glory and pride of the sport among all the trash. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].

You're going from a medium that's all about step-step-stepping to one where glide is king. The movements often don't translate. Figire skating is it's own medium. It's not 'ballet on ice' . I LOVE THIS <3. Totally true. I think people who know nothing about either will equate the two. Plus the media likes to do it as well. Ballet has a long association with the "upper class", and I've seen some people trying to sell FS as such.
February 18, 20224 yr I guess I'm in the minority. I loved T/M so much. Every element was brilliant, they have the best twist, the best lift, their jump was better, their spins were better (Sui had to correct on her spin landing at first). I hate that they went to Eteri, and I hate saying it because they're with her, but their programs are the best they've done because over the years they've had some absolutely awful stuff. I love classic Russian pairs and they have the line, speed and power that defines that for me, even if they're more cool (as in standoff -ish) in presentation than S/H. I've never been a big Sui fan like so many, although I like Han a lot. I thought the results were fair. Both of these teams were better than M/G and B/K were the weakest of the final 4 esp with her hand down on the throw, so the standings were about right.

T/M have definitely lot of very high quality elements, though I don't think they are comparable with Sui/Han in presentation and interpretation in any way in which S/H are superior. Today Tarasova's 3T was a bit off at the landing, too and T and M were just far apart when they did the element. At this level the differences are really not much but small things like these one should count as well. The difference in points in basically nothing, even though T/M are not on home field.
February 18, 20224 yr Tarasova/Morozov are great and I'm super happy about them beating Mishina/Galliamov, who are probably my least favourite Russian pair (not only from the 3 at this Olys, they just never appealed to me), but Sui/Han have a special place in my heart right next to Yuzu. I started following them closely at around same time, since then I had many favourites across all disciplines, but no one came close to those three. So I really, really hope they will finally get that Gold
February 19, 20224 yr Tarasova/Morozov skated really well, but they should get at least 10 deduction points for bringing Eteri and forcing the viewers to see her again after a horrow show she created a day before. Another 10 for Dani G.
February 19, 20224 yr I won't be able to follow the pairs free skate because my dear cousine has birthday and since she is always abroad it is the only year we can celebrate her birthday together. I will try to watch the last 4 pairs on my phone and cheer for Sui/Han as much as I can. Good luck Sui/Han
