Here it is, it is night in Japan and the site is accessible again. Not much change in the scores. Aaand... A fan has received her order for the watch, and there were also goodies! EDIT : 23h30 in continental Western Europe, morning in Japan, the site is inaccessible again. But at least, today I could vote several times. The last ones, for Mai Mihara because after having long been ahead of Rika Kihira, she was slightly under.

Javier Fernández is announced to participate in a show in Moscow, next November 6-7 :
-
Speaking of Alina Zagitova, I don't think this has been announced yet? I think I will double post it in Hey! Remember us? because of Javier Fernández.

This opinion may not be welcome here, but usually I like Daniil Gleichengauz' choreographs (but I have no notion of skating choreo) because I think they show off each skater's abilities and hide their faults (like, I had not noticed Alina Zagitova's less good glide and I can enjoy her grace, her energy, her precision etc), while being enjoyable. But since last season, I have not liked his choreographs for Camila Valieva (last season's FS and both programs this season). And now, I wonder if I haven't found a possible explanation. Architects say it is easier to draw a project if there are rigid constraints, than starting from a white sheet of paper. It may be the same for Camila Valieva : she is too good as a whole (but maybe not properly trained given her talent? Or is it her growth?) to make guidelines for him to write choreos for her. I wish Camila Valieva can have, for the Olympic season, choreos by people who have proven they can imagine something beautiful exalting a "nearly unlimited" skater's talent. I mean, Jeffrey Buttle and Shae-Lynn Bourne, of course. I am so glad Alena Kostornaia will have a free choreographed by Shae-Lynn Bourne! Yet I really liked her free of last year (her short, while very good, had a bit worn out in the second half of the season, but of course there had been very good reasons for keeping it). I came to understand it by watching this very good video, showing Daniil Gleichengauz is at a loss with her :

Unfortunately I missed it tonight, and now the site is overwhelmed by Japanese people. So, one can vote several times a day?

You (all site admins and helps) must have had a dreadful week! EDIT : here is the link to the Planet's Twitter account. https://twitter.com/theplanethanyu
-
It may not be a technical problem... Is it normal that the Twitter link doesn't appear on the right of the screen?

Thank you so much for the interview! I suppose she trained a lot off-ice then. "thankful that she has been able to train in a better environment compared to other skaters" Well, it may be... And so, the second, Hono Segawa, is also from Sendai? I suppose she will go to Junior Nationals too? I hope they will both do well, but of course I hope first, that they will thrive tomorrow.
-
She's only a novice (shewas 11 in August 2019), but Tsuyoboogie Twitter account reports she did a triple axel rotated q in August. Here's an interview after 2019 training camp. Do somebody know where she's training? Also, Mone Chiba was first at Tohoku Junior Ladies short program. How moving, at Challenger Cup this February she skated like a little girl, now she's skating like a "young woman", with beautiful lines and body expression. And her spins!

A busy father! And let's not forget the two newborn whom we don't know yet, but which must be his main preoccupation! And another Yuzuru-doll maker : EDIT : butterfly update. The butterfly died yesterday (Friday) evening. Nothing unexpected though...

The thing is, in the anime, Yuzuru Hanyu would rather be Haku/Kohaku himself (and, while not finding Disney princes very enthusiasting, I do find Haku/Kohaku is, both in his dragon and in his human shape). But the pictures are so beautiful.

"Spin collection part 3, 2014-2015" — but I haven't seen the parts 1 and 2. I think his spin deserve much admiration! The most respectful and kind figure skater and sportsman, part 2 : Difficult jump entries and transitions. I find Yuzuru Hanyu underrepresented but as a whole it is an interesting compilation. Guess who's absent? 4T + 3A + Eu + 3S!

I don't know what he thinks of it in the absolute, but I kind of guess he finds it better than the so-hyped (but, for the few minutes extracts I have seen, so-boring) Nureyev show/ballet of last year in Bolshoi. Edit : there was an article in Sports.ru, and from the automatic translation I understand they did speak of his new program. So, I tend to think Nikolay Tsiskaridze must like it. https://www.sports.ru/figure-skating/1089757826-mishin-i-kolyada-vstretilis-s-cziskaridze.html?from=main-news-fs

Who thought that this would be a farewell to Yuzuru Hanyu's skating for eight months and more? Bonus : a few photos from a 20-21 calendar. Edit 15/10 (a bit abusive from me to edit a post so late) :

There again, I was very pleased with the quiet, traditional Portuguese restaurant we found, with real Portuguese family dishes, where casual clothes were the norm. I think this idea of "formal date" is not that European, from what I've heard from my friends. I have kept a weakness to good cod dishes and never found the like of their collard soup.

Oh, thank you! I knew he knew Alexei Mishin and had seen him coaching and discussed with him, but here they are at the Vaganova Academy Museum (Nikolai Tsiskaridze is acting rector of the Vaganova Academy). But as I don't have an Instagram account, I can only see what I find in a Tsiskaridze fan forum. Or here.

Nobunari Oda's youngest daughter is already walking! What about skating?
-
It seems to be on a good way.

I don't remember this skate particularly, but I wonder if her spins were that mediocre to get such GOEs? She has very good spins usually. At the end of the day it makes something like 2 missing points in the FP score. Is it the same every time she skates? Well, Yuzuru Hanyu has the most wonderful spins ever, and has not better scores than Nathan Chen who visibly struggles to maintain Level 4 and inspires pity while holding desperately his leg not to lose balance. At least in the Ladies field, Rika Kihira has competitors with beautiful spins. And I would say, to have been at GPF in spite of her injuries last season, which lowered so much her base value, show she is not that underscored. But probably a little.

I hope it will not, and their health is very closely monitored. Nevertheless it is in Russia, where maybe medical care is still limited compared with Western Europe (except UK).

Notte Stellata Moomin costume. Butterfly edit (Thursday morning) : it is still well, explores the bedroom in the morning to find new "caves" and sleeps most of the time. I didn't see it have dinner yesterday, but it always has at least a breakfast. And loves blueberries too, which puts three fruits on its diet, with pear and grape. I suppose it is enough. I cannot give it flower nectar anyway. And butterflies have their tasting buds "under their feet", which explains why it holds so firmly on pieces of fruit even when it is not having them.

It is a fact that practice at Champéry, with its height, may give illusions to the skaters as to what they can do on a rink nearer sea level, that is, in a normal competition. But also, for a recovering Rika Kihira during pre-Olympic season, it may prove a safe choice, more forgiving to healing articulations. After all, the important season is next, not this. And anyway, she couldn't go physically to TCC because of Canada's borders closure. I am very glad for Shoma Uno who will have one more translator, as she seems to have a pretty good English. And she may get that little bit of something lacking in her interpretation. I really think she has a strong artistic potential, otherwise how could she skate Breakfast in Baghdad as she already did last year for instance? But at the moment these are more promises, and Stéphane Lambiel may well be the one who can best help her reveal all what she can express with her body. I am sure she will become a dream of a skater, even if she falls a little more in competition this year. And I am sure Koshiro Shimada, Deniss Vasiljevs and Alexia Paganini are very glad to have these Senpai (with Shoma Uno) to look up to and try to emulate. I am very glad she's in Champéry this season.
