  1. Thank you! Maybe out of topic (it should be in the technical questions category), the categories show only for Ice Dance.
  2. Maybe he wouldn't use other skaters' wrong jump as examples, in order not to embarrass them or to seem to direct any reproach at them; instead preferring showing what's wrong technique on himself, jumping the wrong way on purpose. I wonder if a Japanese electronic company may propose him a collaboration on a software to score the measurable parts of figure skating.
  3. I wonder one thing. The reason why France released Vanessa James so fast (contrary to Bruno Massot) may be that Nathalie Péchalat is not Didier Gailhaguet, but also French federation may have been "only too happy" to release a skater who has not directly sent an improper pic to teenagers or harassed them not to speak out, but who knew and preferred go to Olympics than at least to leave Morgan Ciprès. Sort of good riddance.

    SOI

There is a whole thread about it, and all what you can tell us will be welcome!
  5. Didn't he jump them himself "the wrong way"? Which would have been a huge work of course.
  6. Sorry it was thights! I often mix the two words. I will fix it in the message.
  7. First of all, modesty is something quite individual (and age-related too, sometime a person doesn't want such part of his/her body to be seen during some time then it passes) and should never be forced. Then, there is also an argument, and against this argument is the fact that in figure skating (honestly, personally I don't know how gymnasts, either artistic or rhythmic, can manage it) thights are very thick and opaque, to the point that one can't see the plasters under them unless they are quite thick themselves (then the colour is invisible). And dresses usually cover much more than it seems at first sight. (And I believe it is from this same idea of modesty that Men are not supposed to skate in thights, as we could see with PPOS which were not thights but not far from it.) EDIT : fixing typos.
  8. I think he can. And, well, Stéphane Lambiel must think so too. To be honest, Shoma Uno makes me think of late French pianist Samson François, who is one of Ravel's best ever interprets.
  9. I love so much this program of his. To begin with I love the music (though the lyrics themselves are quite blunt), and his skating... I would be curious to see what Keiji Tanaka makes of it, and yes, it would be like in ballet. After all, at the times of Petipa he quotes, technique was not what it is now. Because in my opinion it's Yuzuru Hanyu who brought figure skating to the level of an art, thanks both to his vision and his mastering skating technique to the point of being able to "do what he wants" on skates. I feel that before him there could be artistry in skating, or artists skating, but not a full art form. And I think the very idea of a program library very good too, because this is where figure skating is going, at least I hope so.
  10. I do feel that "smell" too, yet she did relocate to Montréal : how could they practice, even for shows? And not to warn her, well, he did know her maybe even better than what we do with her remarks sometimes mean? So it can be that, but it can be something else too. Yes it looks like that. A Russian retired Pairs Lady skater rather described them as brats, not real toxic ones. But although we don't know what happen behind closed doors, there are also Pairs Men who seem better at first sight, like Han Cong or Ryuichi Kihara.
  11. This is why I had asked if, should a federation experiment such a system for minor national competitions, ISU would try to crush them (or if they would be forced to give it a wider try if it works). And first, would they be allowed to do so, as per the rules (at international competitions, I'm sure they wouldn't). Well, there may also exist federations independent from ISU but I don't even know if there are for figure skating and in which countries, while I know there is at least one good such federation in France for gymnastics. Because designing such a system wouldn't take very long, even with many parameters taken into account. A few months, if there are means.
  12. It's Rika Hongo! I didn't even know she was from Sendai (and she used to train in Canada).
  13. Well, the maximum distance without a stroke, and the average one, are perfectly quantifiable too. I don't see the point in moving from components (they are) to tech score, which scores elements only. I know too, very few, even quite unbiased judges would be able to see the difference in artistry between a great Yuzuru Hanyu program and a nice entertaining one. I find it normal, it's a sport. This "unscorable" supplement in Yuzuru Hanyu's artistry is for our souls, and for the history of skating. And with fair scoring on quantifiable elements, and even a biased scoring on others (equalling the beauty of his skate with a meaningless agitation, which no unbiased judge could do but which biased judges with advanced AI measurements would certainly do), he would still be above his celebrated rivals, even when quite down in health.
  14. Very efficient to maximise scores. And I like a number of his programs.
  15. @rockstaryuzu & @Yuzurella That's where we must be vocal. Those who refuse any AI scoring assistance (and transparency) are very likely trying to give unfair advantage to some skaters against others who skate better, this is very easy to understand. I don't believe IOC are a model of integrity but they can't really afford to be proven dishonest. That's the Anglo-Saxon notion of "respectability" : when in a function of power, you are "respectable" even if you are the most wicked and corrupted ever in this function, until you are publicly proven to be so, and then you become the last of the last. Something quite different : I don't know if it has ever happened that a skater jumps all of 1A, 2A and 3A in a single open practice, but this is certainly the first one with 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A! The whole Axel family was introducing us 4A sama!
  16. Side-by-side GPF and WTT 4A attempts, decomposition : Simultaneous video of 3A and 4A (figure skating boards are 106.7cm high, of course there's the camera angle) : The 6 attempts with slow motion? :
  18. Thank you! I definitely meant, affected in placements/medals. I mean, had he targeted uncalled flaws which really cost him Gold, he could have determined good/bad landing (with smoothness of landing...), excessive entry delay, number of rotations in spins (sometimes he fails there too but then he's always called), etc. And, yes, this very season uncalled excessive prerotation had a lot to do in not getting Gold but then, his thesis was already submitted and accepted, so it had no influence in his choice. I don't know how Rafael Arutyunyan views this thesis. After all, when it was known, it was still time to go back to a leeengthy ugly preparation into an awkward 3A, instead of the planned spread eagle into a << 3A. I suppose they hope this prerotation will be less huge by Olympics? In this case it is a smart move. But seeing judges blatantly ignoring this prerotation in spite of the thesis is really spitting on Yuzuru Hanyu. I mean, it is not only downgraded as it should be per the rules, it is not even called <. @Veveco She not only is the true winner, I think she represents all of us fanyus, and his "with love" autograph is also directed to us.
  19. I should like particularly all antis, who will undoubtedly gloat at the word "anger", to notice judges' leniency towards excessive prerotation is maybe the flaw which had never affected his own placements/medals. For instance, until this very season (and his thesis was already submitted and accepted), Nathan Chen has never had excessive prerotation. A bit more than Yuzuru Hanyu himself, but I've read repeatedly that, contrary to this tabloid assertions, a 1/4 turn prerotation, like Nathan Chen's, is perfectly acceptable, and indeed the post-2018 rule book writes that only a "clear forward" (most jumps) or a "clear backward" (Axel) take-off has to be called. So basically, he chose an example he was personally not a victim of. The noble knight flying to the rescue of Princess Rika or Princess Alyona if you want. ;-) (Or a three-year-after "avenging" of Javier Fernández' Bronze instead of Silver but I much doubt it. In fact I think he just chose the very flaw which lack of detection didn't affect him personally.)
  20. Why? I don't know who she is and the automatic translation seems messy. She's 12, isn't she?
  21. Had it been shared? Here are the three versions of LMEY : up at Nationals, down right at Worlds, and down left at WTT. He's really owning it now! (I have also sent a video of WTT Free with no comment during the skate itself, on the WTT thread, third link.) https://twitter.com/corszk1220/status/1382695724895326224?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1382695724895326224%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=
  22. @yuzuangel So he told Shuzo Matsuoka "It's the jump I love the most"! I hope his other jumps won't be in despair! And about Hana wa Saku, I knew it was from Nanami Abe (this is why I wondered if the last changes were not concerted with her), but I didn't know the music was from Sendai too! Thank you!
  23. Thank you so much! It's off-topic but I wonder if it means she's keeping her American in Paris FS for next season?
