Just a reminder that someone here (me) has mentioned that they liked Japanese idols and have been following them for years (which is what started this conversation) and I don't find the direction this conversation took to be amusing at all Lets focus on Yuzuru here, please.

You don't really love you brother if you don't want to strangle him at least once a year Actually Yuzu is the same age as my baby brother and there is a bit f age gap between as, so I can't think of him any differently than what I think of my brother. It doesn't help that they are both very intelligent, extremely stubborn, and big trolls

I may or may not have a shelf full of CD's,calendars, pin lights, stickers and photos of my favorite idols Yuzu is starting his own collection

I do think that Yuzu is cute and good looking, but for me it is his skating all the way. His looks are not important to me as I have been following Japanese idols for years and became immune to cuteness and good looks (they all are very cute). Even now I watch interviews and other fluff videos only once but have watched each of his performances (competitions and practice) at least 10 times, because there is where true magic happens and where he shines the most. If it is about looks, he is just one of many cute and good looking Japanese celebrities but on the ice he is the undisputed king and a unique presence Also, I started following FS last year because of Yuzu, and since then I have been learning about elements, rules, scoring, competitions, and have streamed GPF, 4CC, Europeans, and Worlds live as well as three junior GPs, ACI, Lombardia, and parts of Nebelhorn this season. I am trying to get tickets to go to Worlds and will go even if Yuzu is not there because there are other skaters that i like and skaters I hope to discover. If all that does not make me a fan of the sport (just because I am a Hanyu fan) then what does?

I had a dream last night of Yuzu skating Seimei wearing all black costume (same cut as his current one) with gold embroidery on the chest and back. It is was so beautiful and he looked amazing on the ice

Best commercial ever

I don't see a reason to worry about it. Yuzuru did it before so he knows what to expect and what he needs to do to prepare for it It is Shoma that I am worrying about, this being his first Olympics and all

Thank you @Murieleirum for the translation It is not the 30% comment that makes me wonder about his sources, but what he said about the SP. How did he know that Yuzu is practicing both the 4L and 4Lz, this is a very specific scenario that none of us even considered and we discuss everything and anything Yuzu

In my family (and many others I know), it doesn't matter who did the packing, Mom will always be the person we complain to if something was missing because Moms always have a solution (The mother's super power to make problems disappear )

I agree with this completely. Having a different costume is the easiest way to make the program look fresh and different, which is why even though I really like the new version, I don't think it is the best decision.
-
Yuzu broke the world record with a 4S, so he can try the SP with the 4L for the next couple of competitions and see if it works for him. If it didn't work, he can easily switch the layout since it is much easier to change one jump in the SP than to rearrange the jumps in the free like he tried to do at ACI.

My favorite part of the article

New costume looks better up close but very plain and "white" from distance, I am not sure this is a good thing I really think he should change the base color to something darker (even if just off-white) so that it is more visible and the embroidery would pop up more. Also, it needs to be a couple of inches longer, it is a bit short which makes it look awkward. Other than that I do think it is an improvement over the first costume, even though I really liked the older on

I personally prefer Hanyu or Yuzuru fans. I hate labels and don't really like the idea of having names for fans as if we are some kind of cult or something , which is what is usually implied when they call as fanyus However, I like the name satellites for the members of this forum, it is a cute inside joke and a nice way to shows that we belong here

Really? Interesting

yuzu is not using the old skate guards Yes, I wanted an excuse to post this pic source: https://seimeiyuzu.tumblr.com/

He is an adult who spent his entire life skating, and has a team of professionals looking after him. I think we should let him decide what is best for him and what he wants to do, he is the one who is going to live with the consequences of those decisions. worrying too much will not change anything or help the situation any, so let us be more positive and cheer for him. New costume tonight, better focus on that

I slept through all the drama in the planet, lucky me. I am not worried one bit, Brian and Yuzu would not take the risk for a senior B competition, especially not in the Olympic season. Also, let us all remember that Yuzuru listened to Brian when he told him to leave practice early last season at Worlds even though he was at his most frustrated. I don't see him being stubborn now and ignoring Brian when it is just ACI. I think they are being smart and trying to manage expectations which is the best things they can do after Lombardia. All Yuzu needs to do it to have a good enough performance to set his base PC for the season, everything else can come later. Go Yuzu

To be honest, I was worried in the beginning when PH was born that it will turn into an echo chamber or a hate space like many other places in the internet. So, I am quite relieved that it is now truly a safe place where I can give an opinion and even make mistakes without having people jump on me and calling me names. Now that the Olympic season is starting I can already see the hate and poison starting to speared and it is going to be really hard to survive being fans of the most popular skater and the one everyone wants to bring down for their favorites. It is great to have Planet Hanyu and it's satellite to be crazy with Thank you everyone who made this possible, I am looking forward enjoying (yes enjoying) this season with you all Sorry, I have a bad cold and it put me in a mushy mood

I am usually quite excited and not really nervous until it is Yuzu's turn to skate that's when it gets really bad, my heart start beating very hard and my hands shaking. I remember trying and to write a comment on GS about Yuzu's SP at GPF and failing miserably because my hands were shaking so much. I am trying to be chill this season and enjoy everything, not sure how successful I will be
-
I don't think they have anything against Yuzu specifically, this seems more like marketing to me. They want to create suspense and rivalries because it gets people invested. I would be way more interesting if you have few skaters who are all capable of winning gold than having one dominant skater who is almost guaranteed to win. It is the Olympics after all, the time every four year when many people who don't usually follow the sport tune in for a short period of time, and they probably want to give them a close competition and drama. I actually think we will see some interesting scoring for the ladies as well to create a rival for Medvedeva.

I think Yuzu is fine. If you look at his results last season you can see that he still holds the highest GOE even when he is not clean and his PC while taking a hit (same as Patrick) was still high, the judges do recognize the quality of his elements and know how good he is. What he needs is to be clean few times (especially in the SP) so that the judges would not dismiss him as gold medal contender like they did at Worlds, and of course the skating order will play part of how they score him.
