  1. I don't think this is cheating, he is just maximizing his chances and the organizers of the event obviously allowed it. Shoma has a real problem with jet lag so I think it is very smart of his team to send him there early and they have been doing that since last season. As for moving the blade, I asked about it before and it seems to be a normal practice for skaters. He did suffer from pain in his ankle because of it so I don't think it is much of an advantage, more like a compromise that I wouldn't personally recommend since it is hurting him but he and his team seem willing to make to land the 4L consistently (at least that what I heard is the reason for it) I am honestly worried for Shoma, he compromises alot to land those quads and the strain on his knees and ankles will catch up to him sooner or later. after what happened with Yuzu I am terrified of something similar happening to him because of much he pushes himself and how scary his landing are.
  2. I am sure that what he would do till Nationals will be a decision made with his team, so we really shouldn't worry too much and let them do what they need to do. Yuzu has been through worse injuries before and he knows how to handle this. Off course he must be disappointed now as this was a shocking development he couldn't have been prepared for but it doesn't mean he can't get over it and come back stronger I don't know if he really went back to Sendai or not but I do know that he is taken care of and that he is now with people who really care for him and will help him heal emotionally as well as physically. So, let us have faith in him and his team and be positive so that we do not add guilt to his burdens
  3. Are we sure it's gray? this still looks green to me
  4. Long trips where you are sitting in a car or a plane are really not good for an injured foot especially if there is swelling. I think he will spend few days in Sendai and then fly back to Canada when his ankle is better.
  5. Maybe Yuzu have a different definition of "perfect condition"? Maybe it means something else in his home planet We need a copy of the Yuzuru Hanyu dictionary to be able to decipher his comments and not be confused in the future
  6. He doesn't HAVE to do anything other than look after himself and do what he thinks is best.. This his fight, his future, his body and his dream, and he gets to do whatever he wants to achieve it even if it makes us uncomfortable
  7. Do you guys think we will be getting any more details about his injury? I am still worried and confused becuase of it and also can't figure out the cause of the fever. Is he sick or was it just a passing thing, I wonder?!!!!
  8. Yuzu may drop the 4Lz or maybe the 4L but I don't see him dropping both. He managed to skate perfectly a program with 4 quads and 2 triple axels and I don't think he will do any thing less than that even if he i injured. Remember, he wants to win with everyone doing their best and him watering down that much is not his best. I think that the performance is as important to Yuzuru as winning or else he wouldn't be regretting his free at Sochi even now. It is that quality about him that is the main reason of our anxiety but also the thing that makes his skating so special. After all, he could easily simplify his choreography and transitions, skate cleanly, and win everything but he doesn't because that is not the kind of performance he is satisfies with. I guess we as his fans will have to live with the fact that he is a perfectionist who likes challenge and would push his limits (and our sanity) to the max
  9. Thank you for bringing this here, I really needed to see his smile... I hope we get a smiling Yuzu very soon so that we can be sure he is doing fine I have faith in his determination and I know that his spirit won't be broken. So, fight Yuzu
  10. Lets hope they feel sorry for us and give us 40 seconds of yuzu rather than 20
  11. I wonder what you guys are expecting from his arrival news. He does not age, always wears the same clothes, always says the same things (he trained hard, he is in good condition, he will do his best and thank you for the support).. The only thing that could be different is the length of his hair
  12. Mezamashi?!!!! We are doing this again
  13. I would like that to. I may b terrible at this game but it made me pay attention to the pairs and ice dance and research skaters so it interesting. Though, can we skip the Olympics.. just in case one of us does have the ability to jinx people. You know, better safe than sorry
  14. I have a feeling that the actual CM will not be as exciting as all the behind the scenes and other stuff we've been getting so far
  15. It is finally back I missed you guys
  16. My problem with the discussions about Zagitova's PC is that it is being generalized as criticism of backloading when it really isn't. Many people have made it clear that they do not care about the backloading as long as it fits the music (me included), which her program does really well. However, this particular performance of the program was not good. I found the first half actually much better than the second. She was doing more relaxed choreography and her positions where better. Then she started jumping and the quality of skating, transitions, and choreography dropped significantly. That is where I find it imbalanced as you can easily split the program into two parts (artistic and athletic) She is a really strong athlete with good skating skills and I do find the second half of her program exciting and impressive. It is just that the sum of the two parts do not make one good program, and that is why I think the PC should have been affected, but I guess the judges already decided on their PC scores in the first half and only focused on the jumps in the second.
  17. Am I the only concerned about a child doing quads.. This is making me really uncomfortable and quite worried that it would harm his joints and still developing body.
  18. It was all over his face in the warm up, you could see that he didn't want to be there. Hope he feels better and not let this affect his whole season
  19. With how bad I did with my CoC predictions, I feel I deserve a deduction or -3 GOE
  20. If he doesn't want to waste time creating new programs, then he most likely will not be going back to old programs that he needs to waste time practicing either. We should be looking at things he did last year like his LGC, H&L, Notte Stellata, and Hana ni nare (I am pretty sure there is something else I am forgetting) Personally, I want to see Hana ni nare. Mainly because I am still salty about not getting a full video of it last time Though, he is allowed and encouraged to surprise us anytime with a new program or by going back to something really old
  21. The forum has been really slow for me today and I got that "error connecting to host" page
  22. I thought I would do it seriously this time and actually research the skaters and make a logical prediction Random selection it is, it has the same probability of being right anyway
  23. Just a thought but I think that the judges pumping up the PC's for the quad kids is to prevent controversy at the Olympics. If everyone's PC is close then the winner will be decided by the technical score, which means the cleanest skate will win. It is also good for the rivalry narrative and makes for more exciting headlines when all the top men are "equally" matched and have the same chances of winning
  24. I know people say that Yuzuru uses the strict judging and harsh criticism to motivate himself but it is still unfair and very hard to accept. I know from experience as a woman in STEM, I had to work twice as hard as the men and always get half the reward, and it is very demoralizing. When you work hard on something it is natural to expect a reward or at least some appreciation, and seeing other get the same or better reward without exerting the same effort is really really painful. My only wish is that Yuzu values his own (and his fans) satisfaction with a performance over the scores since these obviously have other factors influencing them that no amount of hard work or talent will offset.
