  1. Utashin trying to get ready for Dreams on Ice this weekend
  2. Because I found some Yuzu's comments I loved, I searched the sources of these quotes. I could find half of the sources in the Documentaries and Miscellaneous Media (2006-2019) thread made by @kaeryth, so I believe many people have seen them with different subtitles or translations sometime somewhere. However, many of the quotes are linked with old videos that are fun to revisit, so let me share here. I numbered the quotes in order of appearance. The descriptions of some of the sources are very long as they include transcriptions and translations, so I am going to put them in the spoilers. 1. “I would face the process of realizing my dream seriously” Original: “その夢までの期間をすごい大事にしたいなと思っています” 10. "Because it is the stage of dreams, the reality of getting there, the path of getting there, I think I should take it seriously step by step." 2. ”Because I believe what I move these issues beyond the past, the scene ahead is absolutely beautiful. So I am happy right now. In fact, the training is very hard, although I think the present situation is very strict, but I will happily face it and continue to work hard.” 3. “For the sake of this dream, we must go through innumerable trials and hardships.” 4. “I feel I have been fearless. In any case, if I can overcome that, what else I can't?” 5. "I love pressure. I love on the edge of cliff. A-ho." 6. "I believe that by focusing on what I should do, the road ahead can be opened up naturally." 7. “In order for tomorrow's self to standing tall back to who you are today, I 'm gonna take care of every single day.” 8. "There is no such thing as night without a dawn," "I've been waiting for the dawn to come" Original: “それがあるから絶対幸せが来るんだって” ”明けない夜はない” 9. "Be clear on your steps, see what can you achieve right now" Original: “自分の足元をしっかりと見て、で今自分が何を出来るのか” According to some blogs, it is an excerpt from an interview given to Fuji after GPF2014 and aired sometime before Nationals that year, but I could not find the exact source. 11. "It feels like you have to push yourself again and again in any case" Original: Could not catch what he said since the music was too loud.
  3. Nice video and nice song. I remember Yuzu once said that he often listened to back number's "スーパースターになったら" ("When I become a superstar"). It was before Sochi. Wonder if he had been listening to this song as well.
  4. This one has a source in Japanese as well. It is from the press conference after men's FS at COR2017, an answer to a question from a non-japanese reporter. Published in "フィギュアスケートマガジン 2017-2018 シーズンスタート B.B.MOOK 1391" (Figure Skate Magazine, 2017-2018 season's start issue) released on October 31, 2017. Original (although the question is a translation from what language I am not sure): -あなたは外見とは真逆の強さを内面に持っているようです。 Translation: Interviewer: In contrast with your looks, you seem to have an inner strength that is like that of a hero defeats his enemy. Hanyu: Well... Um... Although I don't have any anime hero in particular that I want to be, I like watching anime, etc., and I quite like to win dramatically in any way.
  5. Thank you, Henni, for creating this thread! A quick answer to your question: "Never underestimate Mr. Hanyu. That's for sure." is Brian's comment given in the mixed-zone interview given on February 6, 2018, and aired by some Japanese TV stations in their news shows, etc. The footage on Instagram is an excerpt from TV Asahi's "Hodo Station" aired on the night of the same day, February 6, 2018. By the way, Number 846, the source of "羽生結弦以上でも、以下でもない" was released on January 30, 2014, so in case that quote goes into the real Wikiquote, please correct the release date. Here is the JSF profile page (though not sure if the URL will stay the same every year) https://skatingjapan.or.jp/figure/player/detail.php?id=N0qvoSfQGYA%3D Thank you for creating another nice thread! This interview was given during TCC Media Day in September 2016 and aired on October 2, 2016, by Fuji TV in "Mr. Sunday Hero's Gattai Special." (A news program titled "Mr. Sunday" merged with a sports news show "Hero's" on that day) Original Japanese is "努力はウソをつく。でも無駄にはならない。" It is the line from Amino Vital CM. It sounds pretty much like him, but it is not clear whether it is what he said or what the copywriter wrote for him.
  6. Her other jumps look very good too and it looks like she is good at skating with her whole body.
  7. Actually, the skaters are from many places. Yuhana, Chisato, Hana, and Ryuju are training in Nagoya, Sota in Osaka, Hiroaki, Lucas Tsuyoshi, in Kyoto. ETA: Hana is training in Kyoto with Lucas Tsuyoshi I am disappointed that JSF decided to hold JO with spectators. JO's venue's in Saitama, but they aren't limiting the spectators to local residents as Mao's tour does, so spectators can come from anywhere, including Tokyo. They say that they'll take precautions such as making the audience sit at every other seat while having a plan to make premium seats close to the ice. Limiting spectators' access to the 200lv would make things easier in terms of keeping social distance and keeping things disinfected. Other protective measures they say they will take here sounds understandable, but I don't see why they have to hold this event in between qualifying events for Nationals, making the skaters, including very young Hana, travel under this circumstance. By the way, did anyone tried FOD Premium from outside of Japan during Nationals last year or 4CC this year? If you could use it then, you will be able to watch block events live. If you couldn't, you can watch the highlights on Fuji TV ONE and Fuji TV NEXT via iSakura or similar service. https://www.fujitv.co.jp/sports/skate/news/news200904_01.html
  8. Kaori had been taking swimming lessons since she was a child until the 2nd year of junior high school. She was good at swimming as well. She had an option to pursue swimming competitively but chose figure skating because figure skating allows one to breathe while doing it.
  9. Thank you for your explanation! So what is absolutely necessary is the info regarding the source. I think I can help with finding sources in Japanese, and with adding translations sometimes if people read them knowing they are fan translation.
  10. JSF announced that they are going to hold the Japan Open. Further details will be announced by TV Tokyo, the organizer. https://www.sponichi.co.jp/sports/news/2020/09/02/kiji/20200902s00079000307000c.html
  11. So No.9 is already very close to Kyushu... Please be careful and stay safe. Hope it won't hit hard the areas in its path. Kanto, where I live, is a bit away from it, but I can feel its presence from humidity and the strange color of the sky. I decided to skip this one and the latest Nishikawa campaign considering the price of the products and my needs for them. I try not to buy things that I would not use even when the gift attached to them are extra-tempting. In that sense, I loved Lotte and Ajinomoto campaigns and Nishikawa's last campaign although I could not get a Yuzu clear file folder.
  12. I am glad if I could help you Regarding the Wikiquote, I misread your post and thought you were talking about creating a wiki dedicated to his famous quotes on this planet. If you are going to make a page on English Wikiquote, I am not sure about using fan translations like mine. I checked Yui Aragaki and Chiaki Kuriyama's pages, for example, but their quotes were excerpts from English articles. I guess the quotes on Wikiquote should be something official, and if it is a translation, you need to be able to provide info as to who can take responsibility for the translation as well? I don't look up Wikiquote so often, so sorry if I am mistaken. But it would be convenient if there is a page you can look up his interesting quotes and their sources. It's fun to search and discuss each time as well, but sometimes it is tough since there are so many quotes, sources, and translations...
  13. @Henni147, @Hope_and_Legacy, I think this may be the source... This is his comment excerpted from an interview given after Japanese Nationals 2013 and published in Number issue no. 846 shortly before Sochi 2014. The article is about how Yuzu had chased Patrick since Yuzu first competed with him in 2010. I guess it was his answer to a question about his resolution toward Sochi, and the interviewer mentioned Patrick while asking or something, but the context isn't clear in the original text. Sorry that I can't share the whole article or the gist since it's very long... ETA: Another article quoting the same comment https://www.jiji.com/sp/v4?id=14sochioghanyu0002
  14. I think not every Japanese looks good in kimono or hakama. Because most of us don't wear them daily, so we don't know much about how to move in them or to handle them. It is said that people with sloped shoulders and a long neck look good in kimonos, so Yuzu may be gifted for wearing kimonos. But I think his awareness about his posture, the ability to control his body, and his attention to details are helping him looking so good here.
  15. I am so sorry... Yeah, it would be nice to see another version of hakama Yuzu in front of a white wall since the last one was heavenly... (I know we've already seen this, but I am going to post it because I love it)
  16. But the quoted article says that participants of the ceremony are limited to the representative and vice representative of each school and graduate school...
  17. I think there is a misunderstanding about Nishikawa Campaign. I've read their press release and the explanation of this campaign on the official site, but they aren't stating or implying that the buyer will receive a randomly selected reward. They say that the rewards will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis at their online store and shops taking part in this campaign, as in past campaigns. I think the non-Yuzu-related items are just options for non-Yuzu fans. They did this in the previous campaign as well. We could choose from two types of Yuzu clear files and a pack of Hiepita (cooling gel sheet) if we were fast enough. Reference: Press release of the latest Cool Sleep campaign ETA: Last time, they described their campaign like this: "期間中、対象ブランドのタオルを1,000円(税抜き)以上ご購入いただいたお客様に、羽生結弦選手オリジナルクリア ファイル1枚、またはひんやりグッズ“冷えピタ”1個をプレゼントします。" Translation: "During this campaign period, we will offer either a clear plastic folder that features Hanyu Yuzuru senshu designed especially for this campaign or a pack of Hiepita as a present to the customer when they purchased a towel/towels from these campaign products and the total price was over 1.000 yen." In this campaign, costomers could choose what they wanted from the options left when they accessed the online store or arrive at a Nishikawa shop. This time, they describe their campaign like this: "「&Free オーダーまくら」1点と西川の寝具やリラックスグッズなど、いずれかの商品を1点以上ご購入いただいた方に、羽生結弦選手オリジナル缶ハーブティまたは花王の「めぐりズム 蒸気でホッとアイマスク」をプレゼントします。 ※各店舗数量限定、なくなり次第終了。" Translation: "We will offer a can of herb tea contained in an especially designed can that features Hanyu Yuzuru senshu or a pack of Kao's Megurythm Hot Steam Eye Mask as a present to the customers when they purchased an &Free custom-made pillow with another more than one of Nishikawa products. *Each store will have a limited number of rewards. They will end the campaign as soon as they finish distributing them." They used または in both descriptions. Both can be translated as "or" in English. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that the customer will receive a reward randomly selected from the options. ETA2: Fixed some mistakes
  18. "Yuzuru Hanyu Online Exhibition has been closed. We were so happy and excited to have had so many visitors and received so many kind words. Thank you so much. The moment in a bright future that awaits beyond the "decision." While waiting for the day when we can experience the moment together, I will sharpen my skills not to fail to capture it. (Wakasugi)"
  19. Sorry, my explanation may have been a bit confusing. Intercollegiate meet and Nationals both have their own qualifying events separately. The regional qualifying events I mentioned in my last post are regional intercollegiate meets, such as West Japan Intercollegiate Meet or East Japan Intercollegiate Meet. None of the qualifying events for Nationals hasn't been canceled yet. At the moment, the JSF website says that regional qualifying events for Nationals will be held behind closed doors from late September.
  20. Japan Collegiate Skating and Ice Hockey Federation announced that they canceled intercollegiate meet this season considering that it is going to be difficult to ensure the health and safety of participants, and many skaters haven't been able to resume training, etc. This means the cancelation of regional qualifying events as well, but each competition may be held as a local comp.
  21. Rika finished choreographing her new SP. She says it is a very difficult program but she is going to work hard and be able to perform it well.
  22. Wow. The quality of the video is so good. So they wore masks in the kiss and cry. Must be tough for skaters who have just finished their performance but gambatte... Rinka may need a little more power and speed to pull off this program.
  23. He is also a YouTuber seeking new audiences. It is highly possible that he is trying to cause controversies to get more attention. I agree with @Veveco. It is best to ignore him. Most people understand and support Yuzu's decision. It is just a fact that people have been traveling for Yuzu. He has a good reason to fear that to happen again. There is no need to lie just to sound humble when you have to get a more important message across.
  24. Shizuka Arakawa announced that her Friends on Ice show this year was canceled.
