  1. I looked up the ways to do a plank properly and effectively and got satisfied...
  2. Definitely the one behind the dancing Yuzu. I love the lighting.
  3. IIRC, he was asked the same question in several interviews and always answered that he would be a cat. These are the sources I can find now. -During an interview by ISU, after GPF2014, aired by Fuji in Mezamashi Rough Translation (from 01:50 mark) Q: If you could become an animal, what would you be? A: A cat. Because they live very carefreely, and I feel that I am the type who lives that way as well. So... I am more like living like them than wanting to be like them. Off-topic but this is what ISU shared later. -After ACI2018 https://english.kyodonews.net/news/2018/09/bb43f662df88-figure-skating-hanyu-reflects-on-bumpy-start-to-2018-2019-season.html
  4. I have read a very similar sounding comment from Wakaba as well. I think their comments came from the understanding that they are in a very fluid situation with a lot of restrictions due to COVID-19.
  5. Sorry for being off-current-topic, but Nanakita area, the home of Nanakita elementary school where Yuzu graduated from, and where this happened, seems to have made an area guide map in which Numata Bizen, who contributed the development of the area 400 years ago introduces the history of the area with "Yuzuru kun, an outgoing elementary school pupil" Yuzuru kun... spelling of your name is a bit different from the Yuzuru kun we know, but you look so familiar........
  6. Not sure which thread is suitable for this, but since Jordan is a former ice dancer, can I post it here?
  7. Rika Riku and Ryuichi 1 Riku and Ruichi 2 Shingo
  8. On JSF's event calendar, JO's status is TBD in terms of schedule as well as the venue and the city. The official site of Kinoshita, the main sponsor of JO says that they don't have any plan on sponsoring an event at the moment. My guess is that they are trying to decide whether to cancel or postpone. How can JSF host an international event after withdrawing from other international competitions held in other countries scheduled around the same time? Would such a choice be tolerated?? Also, ISU technical controller Yukiko Okabe tweeted that none of the international events on the ISU calendar was confirmed to be held.
  9. A snippet of the interview Looks like he says he is wondering if this will change the world. He says he's been trying to wear masks as much as possible and to disinfect things as much as possible. He also says he is spending each day thinking about what he can do now.
  10. So Yuzu is likely to appear in the program on August 23rd around 15:00 (JST). They also tell us to pay attention to the opening of the program on the 22nd. According to their web site, this time, there will be no live appearance nor an ice show. They are going to air an interview with Yuzu in which he talks about what action he took during the time of pandemic while competitions and ice shows have been canceled. So glad to know he is doing fine and able to train thanks to C-Chan
  11. Footage of Han Yan on the ice filmed by a local fan. Not sure how recent they are... Looks like the ice rink is in a shopping mall?
  12. Looks like Rinkai Sports Center had a recital today, and Sota Yamamoto performed his Dark Eyes SP at the end of it. From about 24:26 of this video: Looks like he is wearing the costume for Poeta
  13. Self-promotion post: Yuzuru Hanyu Online Exhibition held by Yomiuri Shimbun has been extended until the end of this month. They also shared another short video lecture by Wakasugi last Thursday, so I posted a translation in the Translation sub-forum. Please take a look if you are interested.
  14. On July 29th, they announced that they were going to extend this exhibition until August 31st, and on 13th they shared another short lecture by Kazuki Wakasugi. Here is a translation of the additional lecture. Part 5 promo clip Translation
  15. I've bought a ticket for the live-stream, too. I am half excited because I have never been able to get a ticket for this tour, and half anxious and curious about how this show will go. Hope they will be successful in keeping everyone safe.
  16. Taichiro Yamakuma shared a column written by his sister Eriko Yamakuma, who was also a competitive figure skater
  17. https://www.facebook.com/Ryuju.Hino/videos/614569088652396/
  18. It's amazing, but 羊 is sheep, and 习 isn't used as an independent kanji in Japanese, so I would call it an incredible coincidence, like his winning 1000th OGM.
  19. It is nice to be able to hear a skater's take on this matter, and since Canada seems to have been managing the situation well, he may be right about Skate Canada. I don't feel especially safer about NHK and GPF, though... since the latter is still an international event and the former will take place in a country where the internal situation at the moment doesn't look so good. I am curious about other skaters' opinions too.
  20. Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri: "Ice dancers must be mentally very strong" by Absolute Skating http://www.absoluteskating.com/index.php?cat=interviews&id=2020guignardfabbri Looks like an interview taken after European Championships this year.
  21. I saw a few translations that were too literal or google translation, but tweets suggesting more natural translations were also earning many likes and RTs, so Brian's comment probably isn't widely misunderstood. Many of the fans I saw didn't even share the translations, to avoid sharing Yuzu's whereabouts in Japanese, I guess.
  22. I love that this person figured out a way to make these dolls without cutting these beautiful towels. I also love that these cats/bears have long legs. Funny and lovely.
  23. Skaters appear in this video are as follows (in order of appearance): Wakaba Higuchi Keiji Tanaka Yuhana Yokoi Tomoe Kawabata Yuma Kagiyama and Shun Sato Mai Mihara Mitsuki Sumoto Rin Nitaya Sota Yamamoto Rino Matsuike Kazuki Tomono Kaori Sakamoto Looks like Sota was coached by one of his former coaches.
