Team we're fewer but still good!
sallycinnamon replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Igloo World: Team Other Skaters
I try to make a short summary of what they said. Correct me if I didn't undestand something properly. Good that Stephane didn't talk in Swiss German because I wouldn't understand the half of it. Alexia says when she wants to change something (in her skating) then she goes for it, so she thought she would change her trainer, her training, everything. She wanted to make everything more professional, including her daily schedule, her on ice training, she wanted to make it more organised and she she has found it in Champéry. She can go hiking, or cooking in her free time at weekends. Her French is not good she now sees/realises what Stephane thinks about skating, what his philosophy is, and he makes everything very positive. Alexia says in Champéry everything is well organised for her and for all the other skaters too, while in New York she did everything on her own. She didn't have group trainings ther unlike in Champéry where it is more like a family. She wants to make 3Lz-3Lo or more 3-3 combos, or even a quad, something that is more difficult. Stephane says between New York and Champéry there is a big difference and as soon as Alexia got there she got used to the group, quite well, there was no drama, she had no special requests, she is simply there to train and she trains very well. She has very nice lines, she has good technique, and she is very precise in her technique. She has trust at what she knows and Stephane's aim is to improve that trust in herself also in things she thinks she doesn't know. Will she be the first female skater from the country to jump 4T? Stephane says why not? He was the first male skater to jump 4T. Stephane thinks she has a very nice presence - in his opinion the interpretation should not only be for herself but also for the audience. She is still only 18 but she has a lot of to give! Figure skating is fast and short (he means the career), but the way to the top is a marathon. -

Yes. I still wonder how they will measure the difference between 89, 90, and 91 degress if they won't have more camera angles. Judging will be a mess.- 6,825 replies

General Skating Chat
sallycinnamon replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
There are figure skating recaps from the Olympics on our national sports TV channel every day for 2 weeks. They broadcast usually the last two groups from ladies, men or sometimes pairs or ID from Lillehammer '94 to PyeongChang. '18 I don't have much time to watch them because it's usually early in the morning or in the afternoon, and I work at those times, but some of the broadcasts I saw was fun to watch (Nagano, SLC Ladies, Vancouver Ladies and ID), also because they left the original commentary on them. The good thing is that they're planning to broadcast the men's event from PyeongChang at almost prime time, in the evening on 14 July which could give an opportunity to some people who usually don't watch skating to discover Yuzu. I'll definitely watch it too.- 6,825 replies

The pictures on the account are not recent. This is the newest photo of Lambiel taken around 10 days ago. His hair is still short.

Thanks to OIP for posting that video, that smile is what we needed now But yes, I wish Japanese broadcasters released a bit more footage in the middle of drought, they have so many and we all miss him so much

Poll - When/How did you become a fan of Yuzu?
sallycinnamon replied to PomeloPooh's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu
Welcome here @Hope_and_Legacy! Great first post, I always like reading about how people get into Yuzu's skating. It's really nice that you, without knowing much about figure skating, were drawn in by his beautiful jumps. He is that special! I hope you will enjoy being here!- 249 replies

I find it possible if the Awards won't be a success, especially at Worlds where there will be lots of empty seats, they will realise it will be better idea to go back to gala. After all ISU needs money and they can get more of it if there is a gala and not some awards show. Galas attract more people, even some locals who aren't really into the sport. The reactions I read about the Awards are either negative or neutral at best. I don't think many will watch it online and it will definitely not reach a wider audience imo. So if their aim is to make the sport more popular in the west, then I think they won't reach that goal.

Junior Skaters of 2019/20 Season
sallycinnamon replied to sallycinnamon's topic in Igloo World: Team Other Skaters
Kolesnik is looking for a partner, 'possibly outside the US' . Getting closer to Eteri https://sport24.ru/news/other/2020-06-30-figurist-kolesnik-budu-iskat-novuyu-partnershu-vozmozhno-za-predelami-ssha Maybe Avonley will continue ice dance with someone like Ponomarenko. They are both under Shpilband and Ponomarenko is imo better than Kolesnik. -

Well maybe not that surprising then. After all there must be a reason why Eteri spent all her time in the US since March. -

I find it a bit strange this newspaper interviewed her, it's a tabloid magazine that stalked Yuzu in the past. @Aydmen a season calendar for 2020/2021 that will contain photographs from Sunao Noto is scheduled to be released on 18 September. But it seems it'll only be limited and you have to apply for it until 24 July. https://sportiva.shueisha.co.jp/contents/information/2020/06/30/20202021/amp.php?__twitter_impression=true In English:

Yes, it's because many still don't see figure skating as a sport but rather as a form of art, or show, so they think it's respectful to support everyone because they give the audience entertainment. If you look at the history of skating, I think it all stems from ice revues which very were very popular from the first half of the century for many decades and those people who went to such shows also thought of skating competitions as a form of entertainment, and not a competitive sport. The 6.0 system supported this way of thinking long decades. And nearly 20 years after ISU introducted the Code of Points, this attitude is still there, sadly. It is everyone's personal choice who they support or who they don't want to support, it's fine if someone supports one skater, two, twenty or all of them XD It's the fan's money, precious free time and energy after all.

10 off ice pictures of Yuzu from the previous season

The season calendar is usually published around mid/late September, so if they plan to release them this year as well, we'll get more info about maybe a few weeks before the release date. The year calendar comes out earlier I think, but I haven't bought any of them so not sure about that.

Team we're fewer but still good!
sallycinnamon replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Igloo World: Team Other Skaters
She said in February that she was 'seriously considering' to come back. She said she didn't know how it'd feel five months after giving birth to her daughter, but it is going than expected. She said they are open to everything, and they could be even better (than before). At the same time, Bruno's second child was born just a few weeks ago...
