Me too!! Not least because so many people were nay-saying it for him back in 2018. Plus anytime someone spits in the eye of the 'you have to be young/small to do quads' trope, it makes me really happy.

It looks like a converted curling rink to me...curling clubs often have that homey feel and no boards.

It's interesting that to you, a Canadian, it looks like a converted curling rink, and to me, an Australian who grew up in the 'hot' part by the sea and rivers, it looks like a boatshed (the wooden type for old  rowing clubs) that got quadrupled in size and resurfaced with a rink.

When you say 'boat shed' , this is what I picture:

https://developns.ca/projects/big-boat-shed/

I've visited this space with an architecture prof and I can see the resemblance to TCC, but the Bluenose boat shed is on a much bigger scale.

I tried looking for photos of the interior but didn't have luck. Just lots of random, converted boatsheds that are now restaurants and bars lol. It was the TCC ceiling that gave it the boatshed vibes - triangular ceiling, wooden beams, big ceiling fans.

TCC kinda reminds me of those big sheds near Albert Park Lake in Melbourne, if you get where I mean...

and yes the wood beams totally make up it's shed vibe

The Cricket Club is probably the nicest ice rink that I've seen before, mainly because of the wood and its colours, it has a 'warm' atmosphere to it. While most ice rinks look more plain or have a more 'cold' atmosphere. I also like the big windows and the restaurant behind them, it just looks so fancy.

Well, it's a simply enormous space and the roof is supported by huge beams and trusses in a very unique design. Like most of the older buildings in Lunenburg, it was built by the boat makers themselves so it strongly resembles the inside of a boat hull, but turned upside down.

It's too bad there aren't many pictures of the interior because the interior structure is actually one of the things that make it a historically desirable building

It's rapidly becoming the center of the skating universe

Montréal for Ice Dance... The centre of gravity may be somewhere in-between? :67573697::68271262:

Haha, that old coach of hers didn't know up from down when it came to skating or jumping. So...I'm happy for her and her decision?

...who was her (now) former coach?

Anyway, doesn't really matter now, and I hope she is able to maintain a healthier physical condition with her new training situation.

You mean in Ottawa, where I live? It is the home of the Skate Canada offices, after all. :rofl3:
