I don't mind Nathan getting scores for his musicality, steps, etc once he actually gets there. And has programs that aren't this. But he's not there. And he's getting the scores now. It's ... it's exactly why Yuzuru kept pushing. And he wasn't wrong. If Nathan hadn't had the SP he had....

If he hadn't had the SP he'd had, he wouldn't have had that free skate, I think. It's the first time he landed all of them. It probably came from a lifting of gold medal pressure and needing to prove himself again. 

 

But yes, Yuzu is right to keep pushing. Scoring is biased and infuriating and worse, makes no sense. I hate that it makes no sense. The lutz will be back, the loop will be back sooner, and Nessie will turn up sooner rather than later. And possibly be more stable than the lutz lol

Nathan was intimidated by the Olympics. And honestly, I believe, by Yuzu too. Same at Worlds last year.

 

American pride is a real thing. I have no problem with loving your country and having a nationalistic pride. But when said pride warps your view and perspective I just find it ridiculous. and infuriating. and downright annoying.
