[2018] OG TE Ladies - SP & FS

Featured Replies

Satoko should've had a bigger pcs gap, it was like watching night and day between her and Bradie.

(i'm actually pleasantly surprised that the judges didn't give Bradie 70 like i thought they would have lololol)

And someone gave Med a +3 for her scratchy 2A... judges are just, I don't know what to call them.... strange calls everywhere....

Let's hope the individual event has better judging :slinkaway:

It's a mistake, they sometimes hit the wrong button, it happens.

It counts as a combo because there was no weight transfer.

If that's what you're asking.

ETA To clarify - the free leg can touch the ice, but there can be no weight transfer.

first time this was judged this way. In the past, if the free leg touched the ice, it was invalided. End of story. Never ever have I seen a skater touch the ice with the free lag without it getting invalidated afterwards until today.

Evgenia's skating is all effort. Every jump, foot work, even some of the stroking seems like she's muscling her way through her program. I would never describe her skating as effortless. I mean I like her, but I don't love her skating.

Jumps, sure, but I really see a big improvement in the rest. Not to say it’s perfect or effortless but a lot less jarring then the first time I saw her, or even the beginning of the season.

oh evgenia is a lot better than when she debuted in seniors, still not 38 PCs worthy and that first spin shouldn't have come close to positive GOE ...

I'm catching up with a few performances

-I'm very happy for Dabin.  It's her best score so far I think, and it's just really hard to go out there and skate in front of home crowd. Well done to her! It was lovely to see her coach, Shin Hea-sook tearing up a bit (btw, she was one of the eight people who was carrying the Olympic flag at the Olympic ceremony, she's been busy this days too!!)

-Kostner's jumps are getting weaker, imo she was better in the first half of the season, I think she may need that extra FS in the TE to get better in the individuals. At the same time it'll be exhausting.

-The gap between Bradie's and Satoko's PCS is just

-Zhenya skated so well- I'm really happy for her. I don't necessarily agree with some of her GOEs (esp. the 2A) but overall she's improved a lot. And she definitely doesn't deserve below 9 for TR...

I don't think Bradie's PCS were too high. Gracie Gold used to get sky-high PCS and she routinely missed her musical accents and looked like she couldn't wait to stop skating. Bradie does actually possess musicality; she just needs more time to blossom as a performer. She was out with injuries for so long that she's a couple of years behind where she probably would be if she hadn't been injured. I think it's kind of exciting for the US to finally have a female skater who can actually rotate her jumps and who seems to possess nerves of steel.

As for Satoko, clearly her jumping issues aren't being ignored by the judges anymore and, not surprisingly, her PCS are now being affected.
