I don't understand how tech panels work. Kaetlyn got the combo today. But remember Euros and the guy who did the steps into his combo for the short, and then didn't jump, but did the combo clean later in the programme? They gave him nothing. Or steps into his solo Flip and then didn't do it but did it later. All a little fuzzy now. (Now I'm not even sure it was the Euros. The baby jumper guy - ugh (ETA) he's not a jumping baby, he's the one who waved the little baby outfit - romper?- in the K&C! I can't remember his name but I've watched him so many times ) Kaetlyn had an obvious step and three-turn (I think, I'm still bad with steps and turns) between her two jumps and they gave the combo? Or did they not?

 

What are these rules, even.

Im wondering if they understand those apparent unfairness could affect the future of this sport...

Olympics is the biggest chance, but how would normal viewer think of this sport?

A casual viewer won't know the difference between a combo and a sequence. But it's not the casual viewers who'll be getting up at the crack of dawn to watch for the next four years.

It was Mark Webster’s SP at 4CC. They counted the set-up as an attempted jumping pass, I think. (It was a 3F-2T combo, invalidated.)

it was 4cc with that harsh tech panel that the guy (mark webster from australia i think? the guy who skated to the iphone ringtone that one time) got his flip invalidated despite not actually picking in iirc.  it doesn't make any sense, i cringed as she went for the combo because i thought it'd be invalidated, just combo your lutz afterwards!!! but i guess she got the benefit of the doubt  the questionable calls are in full effect for olympics, its like they WANT controversy lol

*looks at team scores* well I guess that explains Kaitlyn's scores- Canada must get gold? Now the real question is what will Gabby get in the long, because if they lowball her a bit, then judges just really love Kaitlyn. 

As for Satton, seriously, she should be getting 36+ PCS. You can go left/right with her TES scores, but those PCs scores really shouldn't be up for these type of calls.

Yeah, these interpretations make me wonder if we're dealing with figure skating rules or post-modern poetry.

Post modern poetry perhaps. Sometimes there are rules, other times there are none, depends on the intent and mood of the author I suppose.

It counts as a combo because there was no weight transfer.

 

If that's what you're asking.

 

ETA To clarify - the free leg can touch the ice, but there can be no weight transfer.
