Figure skating is making me very cranky lately. I think I need to take a break from it. lol

Me too.  I like skaters who are making effort so much.  But to see such fact is just heartbreaking and makes me angry.  It's definitely bad for my health. So I want to stay away for a while.

If Wakaba had been first, like she should have been ...

If Polina had been second, like she should have been ...

If, if, if. It's a pointless game.

Ultimately, it's the Olympic season and politics rules. JSF dropped the ball. Its particularly fatal this season. I'm sorry Wakaba is paying for it but it is what it is. At least she now knows what's expecting her at Nats, and if she makes it, at the Olympics. Mai too. It is not pretty but it's reality.

she not only paying for it with the GPF spot. With her ability, if she skated like she did at CoC in the GPF, she could have possibly beaten Evgenia. And then she would even have a outside shot at the Olympic gold. But now this is probably gone.

GPF would have risen Wakaba's PCS to be nearer to what she deserves.

Yeah...

Sorry, i already lost my interest with GPF except dance and pair.

Anyway, shoma will be there. But he cant attract so much viewers than yuzu.  that's all.. .  Not much TV coverage.

Same. I'm looking forward to seeing dance and pairs only and they won't air either of them anyway...
Sigh.

I did the counting wakaba can make it if somehow gabby can win SA and polina got 2nd with less than 209,5 pts total or ashley knocks polina to 3rd place, ashley will need 235,75 pts to match wakaba's total so.... :10636614: nerve will be high watching the ladies next week

That's true and she should be a contender for the Olympics podium because she is more than good enough and her programs this season are fantastic.

But that's what I mean by she knows what's expecting her at the Olympics. Basically it boils down to - if she makes it, she'll skate for herself and some sort of personal satisfaction she may feel from a well skated program. I don't know how good enough that is, it wouldn't be to me, but maybe it'll be enough. I don't know. I don't know anything any more.

Of course, she may not make it either because there's Satoko to consider.

Yeah...  But definitely the battle of dance and pair will be interesting this year.  I really envy people going to arena.

I came back only to see unexpected results  I'll watch the videos later (or maybe I shouldn't)

I still hope that Wakaba will make it to the GPF by some miracle (no injuries of other skaters ofcourse)

I want to be happy for the medalists but now I'm too sad about Wakaba

Sorry but Wakaba was not in this competition and the injustice done to her should not make us all forget Mai's underscoring.. Can you at least take this conversation to team Japan thread or something.

I know you are all upset about Wakaba's chances for GPF (I am too ), but at the moment I am more upset for Mai

Yep, I am more upset for Mai too. Those PCS are just awful. I thought she seemed a bit more slow today, and Kurt Browning mentioned it at COC, and he's not usually bad in his critiques... last year she seemed much faster. I thought she improved a lot in her PCS area, even from CoC... I think there are definitely spots for more transitions, but a 7.00??  Nit picking....Um, i think she definitely should be smiling more in her step sequence. It's supposed to be triumphant and if you land all your jumps, you should be smiling the heck out of your ss, imho. If judges want more interpretation of music, maybe her facial expressions need to be beatific here... it's not fierce music, she can't frown or open her mouth in angst ala Medvedeva... or smirk at judges during a walk, a la Wakaba (which i love, btw). She is gentle and serene here... not sure what else can be done in emoting to the audience. I"m buying it, but obviously the judges aren't....

Is anyone excited at how wonderful she was to do two 3L/3Ts in her free? Personally, I hope she keeps it because it is certainly harder, even if it isn't rewarded...
