There is a long interview with Lorenzo Magri, the coach of Daniel Grassl in an Italian newspaper. He criticized quite a lot how ISU handled the situation before they cancelled Worlds.

Magri: I do not agree with the way the ISU operates. It mainly tends to prepare the judges and the technical panels, but not taking care of the coaches, I can say it because I cover both roles as ISU Technical Specialist. They think that the coaches already have their earnings, however there is no training for us and neither for the athletes. The perception is that the ISU takes care of the budget, the image, the sale of advertising and television spaces; it is more a business-related project, it has lost much of the value we could define as sport ethics and principles related to the value of sport.

Mr. Magri, you are so right...we all think the same...the emperor has no clothes

Hmm, why is his technique considered bad? Don’t think it’s the best out there but isn’t his technique considered pretty good?

He gets the jump done, but to me, it is not very aesthetically pleasing!!  The jumps are small and 'tight' with little flow out of them.  And the l...e...a...d..u..p to a jump is boring to me

the medalists were going to perform, they kept repeating it over and over when they were doing damage control

yeah, but maybe not on ice, or on a tiny piece of ice!!

OR your seat will be obstructed so you may only see a minimized/minimal part of the action, you paid to see!!

I literally thanked the good Lord that I got a refund for WC 2020, as it was daylight highway robbery!!

A very bad sign I think. Yes it is in August but I do think it would have been manageable, should Skate Canada have taken advice from the Korean federation, and of course, with only local attendance (and maybe one dedicated hotel for all people coming from abroad). Unless Canadian government refused them to let athletes ant their teams compete without quarantine? But then, what about September and ACI? And what about SC?

GP series, if athletes could even find flights, would go like this:

Arrive at destination, quarantine for two weeks with no ice time, compete, return home, quarantine for two weeks with no ice time, oops missed my next assignment.

There's just no way.

And remember that ice dance and pairs can't touch each other.

Sounds more and more like Challengers will be cancelled. Given the timing, maybe GP series might proceed, perhaps with no audience? Might negatively affect programs or skaters that feed off the crowd.

Can’t imagine what will happen if GP is cancelled altogether. Then all we hv are nationals and Worlds, if at all. :sadPooh:

I’m conscious of how little time we have left before Yuzu calls time and this pandemic is robbing us of wonderful skates we might have

Or events will only be held in countries with no quarantine and tests upon arrival like Austria (I heard in the news that's how it goes there).

I think ISU said that events will be decided on 12 weeks ahead? At least for GPs, not sure about Challengers.

With GPs the most problem will be if some Feds will want to have an event and 1-2 will cancel, then skaters from cancelled events will be in bad position.

JGP I think is almost no chance, cuz it's too early and there's also much more skaters then in seniors, so harder to organize.

Apart from Yuzu I will miss skaters who can have a chance to shine mostly during GPs, at bigger comps they will be in lower groups or will not even make it to the team (Russian, Japanese, Americans, Canadian boys, Korean girls).

There's still the problem of quarantining on returning home, though, like when Han Yan W/D from WC after attending 4CC because of quarantine. Skaters from certain countries won't be able to attend, either, due to travel bans.
