February 18, 20224 yr FINALLY watched the skates and man... what a mess. The ending, after the results, was just so hard to watch. Others have said how inspiring skating used to be by watching Michelle Kwan and others like her at the Olympics but this was just depressing and sad. Anna deserved to win, she landed her jumps (as bad as her technique is) and had nice skating skills and spins. Her sitting alone for 10 minutes was so upsetting and to hear her say she felt "empty" afterwards...devastating. I like Sasha, she's a fighter with a lot of personality, but her skating is so weak. As others have said, she's basically female Nathan Chen with slightly weaker skating skills. She saw Nathan win with 5 quads so she had good reason to believe she'd win too and when that didn't happen I think she just broke. She needs to get away from Eteri but I hope she doesn't give up skating. Poor Kamila. She broke and I genuinely hope she finds comfort in someone. I don't trust she'll find that in Eteri or her own mother. I wonder if we'll ever see her again. Kaori, Wakaba, You, Yelim,, and Alysa were my highlights. They had fun, beautiful skating, and deserved so much more.

Yep which is upsetting because I actually like both of them 14 hours ago, rubyblue said: Another great point from two women commentating for PL Eurosport (after Sasha's skate): "Technically that was insane, but in terms of components, she was nowhere near Wakaba or Loena. I wish one day we will have a skater that can do both Ultra-C hardest elements and the greates artistry". The second: "Yuzuru Hanyu". The firsrt: "Yes, we have one <laughing> but not yet in women field". (nothing about Nathan Chen). They did a great job overall. They're in an abusive training environment, and under a massive amount of stress to deliver. Anna is more polished than Trusova, but is she 3 quads more polished? Considering how people talk about how Nathan deserves to go above Yuzuru because Nathan does one more quad (while doing one less 3A, mind you), is it really surprising she thinks that doing 3 more quads than her competition should be enough to cinch it for her? If you were to look at the men's results and you were Sasha, you would come to that conclusion too. Why should it be different for her? It's not like Anna is even close to being Yuzuru. (I'm not, by the way, suggesting that this is the right way to think, but it is an understandable thing to think.) 13 hours ago, Yuzupu said: Kamila, Sasha and Anna are still kids. They have been suffering from abuse for years. It's understandable that Sasha lashed out. They are victims. All these girls are victims. And it's terrifying to think that the cycle may continue after this. Please, is there any chance that there will be an investigation, some kind of reformation? 10 hours ago, Tee said: eta Text in tweet: 10 hours ago, yuzuangel said: I truly can't fault Sasha for her reaction because all I'm seeing is 3 kids who have been abused and are cracking under the pressure. I mean one is a teenager at the centre of a doping scandal who fell apart and then her coach was awful to her the moment she got off the ice, one of them is someone who honestly as a junior had a beautiful passion for skating and jumping and could have really developed into someone who had the complete package if she had a good coach who developed her skating skills, and one who just won an Olympic gold and could barely even appear happy. They are all skaters who could have been incredible and could have had good Artistry and good jumps if they had not been failed consistently by the adult coaches who care only about results and train them in a way that destroys these young woman. And unfortunately they've taken girls who had an incredible passion for skating like if you watch Anna and Alexandra as juniors they had the passion and it's just been drilled out of them in the name of results and they think it's a personal failing to not be at the top when in reality they've been failed by adults who have been supposed to guide them. That's why I can sympathize with their reactions especially Sasha's because they've been abused. Was Sasha's outburst good sportsmanship? Of course not. But it's understandable given what she's been through and what the rest of those students have been through. I don't feel angry for the way she reacted or like it's dramatic or bad like it wasn't good but it was understandable. I have only just caught up with this thread hence the huge Post to get my thoughts out.
February 18, 20224 yr What happened to this Olympics was hard to witness and live through ... IMO, Kamila, like Zagitova and Lipnitskaia, is done - banned or not. Same Anna. Maybe she will go to WC maybe not (she is nurturing an injury...), Sasha is a very ambitious girl, I can see her staying for another OC but not with the Dragon Lady. Tbh, I don't see any of them staying with Eteri anymore ... but who knows... ugh.

But Kamila after yesterday event would be hard to comeback to ice. I would be surprised if she's back soon because the mental damage was huge. And Sasha.... She said she hate the sport to Eteri right? I wonder if she decide to leave Eteri after Olympic Sasha left Eteri once but returned anyway. I do not want sound bad... Sasha and her jumps are amazing but figure skating is not only this :-(. Maybe she needs to think in different way than just jumps. If she change coach but keep her attitude about jumps maybe situation will not change at all. I just hope she will not leave sport completely it would be really a pity.

I don't think Sasha even planned to compete after Olympics, she once said she wants to win medals early, retire and focus on other things. She basically can't do this when figure skating is 100% of their life at this level. And also she clearly stated that she knows figure skating has two parts, but for her technical is more important and she focuses on that. She was honest about that, too bad the judges still score her PCS so high.
