[2022] Winter Olympic Games (04.02-20.02) - Men's FS

I think Yuzus feelings are just very raw right now, he is very sensitive and feeling vulnerable and exposed, but after just a tiny bit of time I know for sure he will feel proud of what he did here.

What he set out to do was terribly difficult and ambitious and his results are amazing ! He was so close to a fully rotated 4A in competition (Olympics stage, no less!) which is outstanding . He had to not only practice and study the theory but actually make the theory himself! His contribution to the sport is unmeasurable at this point. Unimaginable hard work. He is legendary and he keeps making history.

He is making progress towards his goal and that is all that matters to me. He doesn't need to prove anything to anyone, he has proven himself a king on ice many times.

Wishing my beloved Yuzu the best of fortune and health in his journey.

I hate that he flat out answered that he didn't enjoy this Olympics to the press. To me, that feels monumental. No matter how kuyashii or annoyed with results he is, normally he still does his usual 'I'm honored to be here' spiel for the media. To not do that? You know he means business, and is exhausted. In a way, I feel like this was the last of his f**ks to give in regards to trying to fight back against the ISU. The Olympics is supposed to be a special time for any athlete, especially a veteran like Yuzu. But he didn't even get that.

Now that everything is over, I have to admit that he looked gloomy in almost all open practices. It will take months for me to recover from this mess, I hope Yuzu gets over it too smoothly. I still can't believe ISU got the chance and destroyed him completely

I just want Yuzuru Hanyu to give everyone in this corrupt system a big fat f u (may it be in form of a 4A+ redemption skate or him literally saying that ) and dip. I wouldn’t even be mad. If the sport can’t appreciate him, then idk what he should do. Land the 4A, get it ratified and go chill with Pooh on a Japanese Island. Heck , why not take a WC on his way out. Look, retiring is the last thing he should do, but if he is USED every single time to prop up the next big thing just because he generates clicks…why help ISU out. FS governing body is sick to the core.

I'M SO PROUD OF YUZU FOR HIS 4TH PLACE FINISH <3<3 after i learned that's where he placed, i was just filled with so much pride and love for him. he didn't give up, didn't back down, even while sitting in 8th place and 20 pts behind. Just got on the ice and showed the beauty and strength that's inherent in his skating, something that neither underscoring nor shitty ice could take away from him. He skated wonderfully under the unprecedented pressure of being a 2x reigning OGM in this media age where all cameras were on him and millions of fans were watching globally, all expecting miracles from him. And what he did was a miracle. Of course, that 4A, I was just in awe when looking at the replay. For many other skaters it would've been called clean. He really is pushing the boundaries of FS in his own way, and I'm just so glad to be a witness to it :clapping-smiley: Rest well Yuzu, we will be here always <3

Now that I read all 92 pages, seriously how much do you write? It took me all day! I think I have a more clear (clearer?) picture. I'm just writing while I read so sorry if some things were discussed at page 9. (did I say that you write a lot?

Anyway. Here my thoughts. Two days ago I was really sad and I've explained why but today i'm happy. I'm happy it's over and that he can say that he survived. 4A was his dream right? I actually don't understand who says that they wanted him to skate safe because he would be 3OGM. Why? does he really need a 3rd (A THIRD) Olympic medal? Everyone should instantly say NO! Of course, I am a newbie fanyu but even I, with my small knowledge of him, can say that he doesn't need another medal to be a history maker. I'm actually happy he was 4th so no media days and no interviews, but most important no press conference with stupid journalists who belittle his achievements. Of course I would have liked a medal, I mean, you never throw away a medal, but I'm not sad he didn't get one. Anyway, without that hole he would have podium, so it wasn't his fault he didn't (I mean if he made mistakes himself in the SP he would be more disappointed, right?). As he said 8but he shouldn't) he gave everything he could. Respect that.

Trying to land a 4A on that ankle was crazy, maybe without the injury he wouldn't have landed on one food but two, like at JNat, we will never know but just knowing he tried it while injured and almost succeeded is phenomenal. I'm actually quite shocked that they gave him only a < seeing how he was scored the past quad but I guess it was too rotated to even think of downgrading it. Now I'm not an expert but I think I saw his axis go a little on the left on the last rotation. So he is right, the axis is the first thing to adjust to even think to rotate it.

His reaction when they told him that his last baby was certified was priceless and another skater wouldn't have said "well it was under rotated though". Seriously Yuzu??? Just be selfish for once (I know, it's not in his DNA) and don't downgrade your effort. Does "sokka" means "on one foot"? Sorry my Japanese is far from beginner level... and I hope this interview was after the other interview where he seemed to give up on the 4A.

There are a lot of people who were against him for trying, they said he would never do it, but what I saw today was a lot of other skaters and athletes who praised his attempt, even with a fall (I mean even I-$-U had to concede to that and I bet they are angry about it) and I was touched by the support not only from fans.

I'm not going to talk about "you know who" because I don't watch him, but I've just read that he's going back to school in August. I don't know how hard skating and university is together, but Yuzu did both at the same time. And that's for me is a win, always.

About the injury, I actually thought he would WD or have a bad skate without the 4A or maybe the 4A with a bad skate like CoC14. We don't know how serious it is but I just want to have a positive feeling. At CoR18 he accepted his medal on crouches because it was too swollen to put in the skate and here he skated (and tried 4A, I won't ever stop saying that) so I've decided that is isn't that bad. Hope I'm right and it isn't actually bad. I do hope.

I'm touched by his tears for Shi-chan and Shuzo-san. I hope they are because they always supported him and not because he think he disappointed them, but I think all his fans' support is catching up on him (and BTW Yuzu in tears is just precious even though I would have preferred for them to keep it private). I'm happy that he had Shuzo there and that he supported him since he was 16.

I hope they won't turn this image in "Yuzuru crying because he didn't win" knowing how some turned the ice hole think...  Please mama Hanyu spoil him rotten and give him a big hug and gyoza, strawberry shortcake and what was the other thing he liked? Caramel? Pudding! It was pudding.

Now I don't know how to explain this but I'm saying this in a positive way. I hope he says that he "hopes we aren't disappointed because he didn't win" only because he knows we wanted that, but deep down I hope he knows without us saying it to him that we are proud of him, so proud. And maybe it's a Japanese thing to do, but he knows we aren't. And I hope he won't see only the negative things that they will say - not that I've seen any, or I blocked all on twitter or I'm just fortunate I haven't seen them - but I'm sure there are a few out there belittling him. Because geniuses and luminaries are always bullied right? So I hope he sees our love. Him not having social media is a blessing for his sake, but a curse because we don't know if he sees the love and inspiration he is.

I hope he rest well. I would like for him to skate in the gala if he feels like to, but I hope he puts his health before his fans. Most probably he won't because he puts his fans before everything. If he skate to LMEY, can he skate without jumps like he did in CiONTU? I would like Hana ni nare or Hana wa saku or Requiem for heaven and heart or Haru you, koi (okay I will stop or I will write any of his performance; which by the way I would watch him skating to all his gala performance instead of watching the entire gala with other skaters - no offence to them - ) And can't he go back to Japan and then come back for the gala if he participate?

And I would hope for him to go to worlds because come on, we always want to see him skate, right? It's a gift every time he takes the ice, but I won't be disappointed in him if he skips world and rest that ankle. But please if you keep going can you keep those two programs till you land a perfect 4A? (if you still want to land it of course, whatever you want to do Yuzu) I need RonCapu without holes in the ice and Tenci is just too beautiful to stop skating. And I would keep skating just to spite I$U, just for myself, though maybe with all triples, 1 quad in sequence with 3A (that was a beauty) and 4A, so that is less... how do you say it? You know less heavy stuffed with things and he can breath more. (but whatever he decide is fine with me as long as he doesn't give up skating, it's his life, he can't stop skating! The world will lose too much. - but again, whatever he wants to do)

During his skate, at the beginning you could hear his shuu-pah... that was so comforting in a way. And what the kid yelled after the audience shut up? I'm mad that the camera went to the audience when he was yielding his sword back at the end! come on who wants to see the audience when you have Lord Kenshin, I mean Yuzuru Hanyu finishing a battle???? I hope there is another recording. I've still haven't watched all the video. Now, I don't want to talk about China-Japan interaction because I know it's rocky and a sensitive subject, but after reading what Jin Boyang's mother said, I say that Yuzuru transcend even history.

Just a question... how can he take back to Japan 20.000 postcards?? Surely his suitcase isn't that big... Instead of a pooh rain he got a postcard rain...

I wrote too much.... Should I stop writing so much? It took me all the evening! Now I go to read the other topics that I negletted ....

And now elton john is praising NC for his rocket man fs.I knew it one of the reason he recycling rocket man is also to get the hype. Its like is it only western songs are only the only getting recognition?Skating is now like only recognise by the music choice not by how the skating itself

They are cruel to him like that

But how is it working? Yuzu can fill and over fill stadiums anywhere in the world, surely they are focused on NC for a financial benefit, but are they getting it?

Absolutely, I agree! He is such a pioneer who explores unknown frontiers. It takes so much courage to do that. I respect him more than I can say.

I watched the slow mo of his 4A and it looks so close! It was definitely only q. He's so close to landing it perfectly. Considering the monstrosity of the 4A, I highly doubt anyone but Yuzu could pull it off in the next couple of years. Perhaps he might even remain the only one to ever do it.

It wasn't too much, I found your words very comforting :softYuzu:

The slo-mo gifs of Shoma's jumps.... Did he even rotate any of his jumps because wtf. Shoma keeps stealing others Olympics medals. Anyway, I didn't want to see Yuzu as bronze medalist sitting in the same press conference with Nathan. But still he was robbed.

Yeahhhh like I'm happy Yuzu doesn't have to deal with the media circus bc of not medalling, and I like Shoma, I really do, but he did n o t deserve the scores he got at this Olympics

Maybe I'm wrong as I'm only a learner, but the meaning I know is just 'Oh really? / Oh yes?', as in, a shortened 'sou desu ka'. Maybe someone more knowledgeable will help out.:fingerscrossed:

Spoiler

Warning: Injured Yuzu icing his ankle.

Putting it under a spoiler because I don't want to upset people, but I still thought I post it here to show what Yuzu was going through. What he did on the ice was simply heroic. :crybaby:

I just hope his injury isn't too bad and he heals quickly. :smiley-angelic001:
