90 deg short of rotation

Thanks!

And that means that is better than understate, right?

I think it does

q is a jump landed a quarter short (but basically it's more a way to give the right skaters full base value for not sufficiently rotated jumps )

If they follow same as Tokyo Olympics SOP, yes. Tokyo Olympics athletes have go home within one or 2 days after they finished competing.

But how would that work for the other skaters? Going by this Chen, Yuma, and Shoma would also have to leave before the Gala. So then I would guess a gala invite must count as a further "competition" appearance. And China probably would invite Yuzu (they'd be silly not to) whether he shows up is another matter.

The Beijing 2022 Playbook states:

"Follow the instructions of your NOC/NPC regarding your departure. It is recommended that you leave China within 48 hours of your last competition, unless you choose to participate in the Closing Ceremony."

I completely forgot that the  closing ceremony is a thing. duh:bash:

Yuzu is on the invite list. But personally I rather he skip the gala & go back Japan to get his ankle treated

I have shared previously, this is my first Oly experience with Yuzu. After what happened at his SP, I decided not to jinx him by skipping his live FS performance and waited to watch the uploaded video here (@sallycinnamon thanks for making it available here).

Heading into his FS with injuries (we know his right ankle is more susceptible to serious injuries even with a not so serious fall), I’m really proud (actually tearing) he put up a strong fight - he’s insanely courageous to bravely showcase his 4A attempt to the world (when most would abort it and go for a safer layout to win a medal). He was there as a challenger of the sport and was committed to complete his routine to the best of his abilities under far from ideal health/ankle conditions. With this, he’s proven why he’s a majestic living legend, a worthy two-time Oly champion and three-time Olympian. No. One.  Else. Comes. Close.

I am honoured to support such an amazing athlete and human being. He’s a man of words, till the end.

Appreciate the frank and heartfelt sharing from fellow satellites over these few days, it makes me realise I'm not alone with such thoughts/emotions. The planet provides a safe space, an important emotional outlet to for us to vent our frustrations, share our hope and joy for Yuzu.  Keep safe and take care, Yuzu and everyone here!

Spoiler

It takes Yuzu, a hardworking and gifted talent more than a decade in the Senior circuit to reach where he is technically and artistically, yet NC takes just a few years to reach a similar and beyond Yuzu’s range of scorings?  Why? If it is indeed a genuinely multi-dimensional talent as portrayed by the scores, where was the buzz and excittement for his performances in ice shows? Why didn’t tickets sell out at competitions participated by NC? Who can fill up 10,000 seats at the arena for ice shows?

Their ‘Make America Great’ campaign involving two-way manipulation of scores - overscoring preferred skaters and underscoring of Yuzu post-2018 PyeongChang is the answer to the phenomenal rise of NC within a short period of time. It is not going to go away. In fact, the success of the US narrative at this Olympic only serves to embolden these governing bodies for more manipulation, unless an AI system is implemented to keep it in check. Now that Nathan has been manufactured as the indisputable leader, I’m not sure if he’s going to retire anytime soon as he can easily become a two-time Oly champ or US having two or a clean sweep on the podium (Nathan, Ilia Malinin and Vincent Zhou) at the next Oly. With Ilia Malinin being a promising skater with technical and artistic talents, the preferential scoring will be even more obscene.

Hence, if Yuzu is satisfied with a certified 4A here and decides to retire, I will gladly support his decision (though am sad to lose the chance to attend his competitions but that means we can attend his ice shows sooner than later). But should he decides to pursue a ratified 4A (his health permits), then I hope it will be within the next season.

So I've spent rest of the day recording the full comp for archival purpose and... sighs... had to physically remove myself from the room when it came to the last group :headdesk2:

Just listening to the commentary alone is already dreadful and leaving so much bad taste.

which one did you record? wanna upload it to our video section :D

Y'know, it hadn't really sunk in about Yuzu missing the podium until I realized that we will never get a third excited jump on the podium picture

can someone tell me what channel this was on? the post-FS interview

It is tv Asahi Hodo Station aired 21:54-23:10.

Probably they wanted to make an example out of him. To show that anyone who goes against the system will be burnt to ashes.

Honestly, they did Yuna dirty in Sochi too but not to this extent. She was just robbed of her gold. Yuzu though.... ISU was thirsty for his blood.

I hate that he flat out answered that he didn't enjoy this Olympics to the press. To me, that feels monumental. No matter how kuyashii or annoyed with results he is, normally he still does his usual 'I'm honored to be here' spiel for the media. To not do that? You know he means business, and is exhausted. In a way, I feel like this was the last of his f**ks to give in regards to trying to fight back against the ISU. The Olympics is supposed to be a special time for any athlete, especially a veteran like Yuzu. But he didn't even get that.

Pain.

Also, Shoma is the first Japanese skater to be a three time Olympic medalist.Elton John praising NCs  homophobic ass ..

All the ppl in FS Reddit who were saying „Yuzu will never land the quad axel, he is crazy“ are now praising him for trying it and not going the safe route. Honestly, f##k them all. Damn it. I think we don’t actually know how frustrated Yuzu could actually be. I mean, he isn’t stupid. He knows that people have been doubting him, and if it’s true that he landed the 4A before WD at NHK then… oof.

im just mad ok? Mad at JSF, ISU and USFS for lowballing the greatest athlete of this sport. We fell for their narrative. Not to take anything away from that Grafström guy or whatever, but how can the media compare 3 OGM back then, when competitive figures were a thing, to times with even ppl as young as 15 attempting quadruple jumps in competition. Just saying. We fell for the medias narrative totally, hook , line and sinker (do u guys say that English is my third language lol
