For real though, with the 4A seeing Yuzu start his FS feels like seeing off a brother/son/husband to war. I'm not joking, the amount of terror for his safety that strikes with the start of the music feels so real

Same. I'm literally praying for angels to hold him up with that jump. It's like a leap into the unknown.

I think Men Figure skating will be dead after yuzu retirement. They will lost the superstar.

It will take a long time to have another superstar like yuzu.

Good looks, great skills, good personality. Especially the respect and passion toward the sport itself. Yuzu has it all.

I'm already thinking about that meme with the main guy from CW's tv series The Flash posing with the victory sign in front of a tomb. Someone will hopefully photoshop Yuzu instead of that guy and write ISU on the funeral stone so at least we'll have a nice meme for the occasion. I wish ISU the absolute worst and they fully deserve it for their absolutely heinous treatment of Yuzu over the last few years. Imagine psychologically abusing the best thing that happen to you in that way

Should have stopped the count right here! :)

Just now, Yuzupu said:

Kill me please Shizuka-san said Yuzu cant feel his right foot

Then he's definitely on strong painkillers. He said it numbs his foot so he doesn't feel any pain. However, because he can't feel his foot, it makes it hard for him to control his movement, so it's insane that he was able to put out such a quality skate in that condition.

I gonna cry a river with more interview information coming up later.

Boss, I can't work now.

Sigh. Sadly, he really says so. Hope he can rest well...

ETA: He isn't sharing more details of his condition here though. I guess we will hear more later.

Spoiler

Mr. Arakawa said, "Thank you for your hard work. Mr. Arakawa said, "Thank you for your hard work... You had a lot of feelings on your way to the Beijing Olympics..." Mr. Hanyu leaned against the wall, saying, "Oh, wait a minute.

I shouldn't have looked at Sh~chan's face," he said, holding back his tears for a few seconds, then said, "Yes! Yes! Yes!

--I'm sure you had a lot of feelings for this Olympics. What were your thoughts as you competed?

No, to be honest, it was frustrating. I spent the last three days wondering why I wasn't rewarded. I worked very hard, and I was in a lot of pain, and I don't know if that pain was rewarded here, but honestly. I don't know if all that hard work paid off here, to be honest, but as far as winning or losing, it wasn't what I was aiming for at all, and to be honest, I don't think I left anything behind. But if there's a moment for everyone to think that Yuzuru Hanyu's skating was good, regardless of the victory or defeat, I think that's the meaning of my skating today.

--How do you feel about the Triple Axel challenge?

How do you feel about the triple axel? I had a lot of adrenaline, and of course, I couldn't feel my right foot anymore, but I think that's why I could do it. I really want to thank you all.

--I really want to thank you all. Were you able to put your heart and soul into it?

I think it's because of those two failures and that quadruple and a half (quadruple axel) that I've been able to put my heart into my performance. I think I was able to act out all my feelings, all my stories, without feeling like a wreck until the end.

I think I was able to play out all the feelings and all the stories.

Finally, Mr. Arakawa said, "Please praise yourself for this big challenge," and Mr. Hanyu showed a big smile.

Hanyu showed an even bigger smile as he said, "I can't praise myself, but I want someone to praise me. We finished the interview with a smile.

hopefully it's just the painkillers...

how is does he manage to pull off such beautiful jumping passes if he can't feel his foot????

NBC's poster for NC's win. Kinda gives me wrestling champion vibes (not that I know much about wrestling).

To sum up the last 4 years Yuzu was a victim of score judgement nonsense that forced Yuzu to try more difficult jumps than the one he could already jump perfectly. If only Chen and his messy choreography and jump GOES were judged fairly for the last 4 years I feel Yuzu wouldn't have thought 4a was necessary in order to win.

I kind of think the last 4 years and it's judging 🤡 clown show drove Yuzu to an irrational mindset. There was no way he could land 4A when he hasn't consistently landed them in practice. Yuzu took about 3 seasons to perfect the 4S. That's how much it usually takes to consider it safe enough to jump it in olympics. But Yuzu rushed the 4A at olympics and was it worth going for? 3rd OGM was a near 100 year old historical record worth going for, whereas 4A jump could have been done in later seasons. This wasn't his last chance to do it, but I feel maybe he wasn't thinking rationally about prioritizing clean programs at Olympics. If he skated clean without 4A, he would have medaled.
