February 10, 20224 yr As to Yuzu's comment, why don't we give him time? He must have endured so much for this competition. It is not surprising that one cannot think about the next competition after facing a challenge like this.

Hide contents Can he just do as Nathan did in 2018 and refuse...? He's Yuzuru Hanyu, I reckon he will attend to put out one 'good' skate in this Olympics, for us, his fans.

Ppl are just wondering how bad the injury actually is and assuming that if he wd from Worlds is probably rather serious. But he could in fact have other reasons for wd-ing so better wait for actual info on the subject than just speculate on the severity of the injury rn.

The Beijing 2022 Playbook states: "Follow the instructions of your NOC/NPC regarding your departure. It is recommended that you leave China within 48 hours of your last competition, unless you choose to participate in the Closing Ceremony."

More power to him for striving towards that goal. Not gonna lie, I'd be happy seeing him skate cleanly with easier layouts and taking medals, but he's got nothing left to prove. To be at the top/near the top for 3 Olympics is amazing in its own right. He always talking about 4A since winning Gold at Pyeongchang. I'm so proud he's stay true to himself and keep 4A in the FP. If not because of 4A i don't think he has other reason to keep competing. I feel like yuzu lost a reason to compete after pyeongchang. I felt it in 2018 with otonal and origin program. Like he wasn't so sure what's his goal.

In a regular year I think he would most likely go, but he's very careful about covid. And like you said earlier, I also don't think this is a terrible injury compared to most of his others. Ankle sprains come in grades, and if it's not causing instability it means the ligaments aren't fully torn, so it's either grade 1 or 2, and those heal quickly. Not ideal, obviously, but it's the kind of injury that is probably very common in training. Edit: just to add that this is obviously just speculation. But I don't think people have to worry too much about this injury. He's walking unaided with no visible limp, as far as I could tell, so we know it's at least nowhere near as bad as Rostelecom.
February 10, 20224 yr My partner also took today off work. Now, we are both crying messes at 8 am. It was such a big fight for his own belief and skating ideals not for medals. My partner's theory: the Universe tested him in his determination to pursue 4A. Now that he went for 4A, injured and knowing he might lose the medal, he will be ultimately rewarded in the end.

I'm sure he's had a lot of similar injuries that we just never found out about because they healed quickly or weren't bad enough to affect his performance. Unfortunately it probably comes with the territory of working on such hard jumping elements

Send all positive energy to yuzu so he would be the first skater to land 4A with +GOE
