Meghan Duhamel said the same on TSL and while I know that show is a clown show, I do agree with her that there were other ways he could have challenged Nathan. He could have perfected 4Lo, 4Lz. We know he could land those. And bring 4T-3A SEQ Or add 3A-3Lo. Or add 4Lz to the short and focus on new exciting programs and choreo. But I feel Yuzu was driven to this situation. He said before if he goes to Beijing it will be to win, and I do feel he did challenge 4A because he thought in his mind it was the only way he could beat Chen. But a clean perfect Yuzu with 4Lz and 4Lo would have beaten Chen. The choreo and jump and spin and skating skill GOE on a clean Yuzu on olympic ice would have been impossible not to give full PCS and GOE. Because doing 5 quads in empty programs wasn't, isn't and will never be Yuzu's skating ideal. Period~ He didn't go after 4A to challenge Nathan, he went after a childhood dream. 2019/2020 made him question whether he should chase his dreams or chase others skating ideals. He selected his own dream. that's why he is the GOAT.

And there was so much tension in him, someone who isn't familiar with him might've thought this is his first olympics. But with what this cesspool of a sport has done to him since 2019 combined with other current external circumstances,is not at all surprising.

Giving the scoring nonsense since 2018, there is absolutely no way for him to win unless (1) he skated squeakily clean AND (2) NC screwed up big time. Give credit to NC for always landing on his feet. Yuzu knows this and that's why he has been so eager on practicing 4A, because that's how he wants to leave his marks in this Olympics.

True but I also feel Yuzu has been repeating past programs throughout his senior career a bit too much whereas Nathan was praised for bringing new programs every season except this season. The judges do pick on skaters who keep bringing old programs. I hope Yuzu brings 2 new programs from next season so we can see new sides of him as much as possible with different genres of music like Tango or Jazz before he retires.

Maybe because after 2018 Yuzu has never skated a perfect clean FS in an international competition, we will never know. But a clean Hope and Legacy at 2017 Worlds did receive a massive score boost. It was underscored but a clean Seimei and clean H&L was given WR. Nathan has never skated that clean with that good of jump GOES ever. He always had little mistakes or two even in relatively clean programs.

Yuzu recycles because he polishes them every time, he adds to them, he wants those programs to achieve perfection. His idea of recycling isn't about being lazy, it's seeking perfection. Whereas Nathan doesn't do much in his programs, empty programs and some random arm movements. Changing such programs that are created with the sole reason of gaining marks and achieve consistent jumps is always easy. meh

He does recycle more than Nathan. It's strange for the judges to have that impact the scoring, though, since there's nothing in the rulebook about it. Although I suppose impressions do matter, even if they shouldn't.
February 10, 20224 yr Finally got around to watching Yuzus skate. I hope he is ok, his skating didn't look as smooth as normally in my opinion and my take on the skate is that he is hurt again (and i really hope I'm wrong). The fall on the Sal looked strange and he didn't do the 3A3Lo as well. But I'm so proud of him. He choose to chase his dream and that deserves the utmost respect.... The judges really did make that PC score? I really thought they wouldn't dare.... Also, really proud of Jason!

Yuzu was lowballed to the max at ACI 2019, with so many phantom calls. where were you? again lowballed in NHK. worse happened in GPF. Knowing the judges will never give you reward despite skating the most complex program while your opponent will get rewards as long as he stays on his feet is mental draining. Btw, ISU has changed the system from the 6.0 system, clean empty programs should be penalized now but they aren't.

There's nothing wrong in keeping the same program though. Idk why the judges very harsh on scoring him. It just like people in the class very jealous of the genius student.lol or maybe because yuzu isn't American or Russian. And JSF, idk maybe because they can't control yuzu for their own benefit...so they don't really support him.

Yuzu doesn't do half-assed, superficial, boring, shallow, and empty programs. He's a true artist, a musician who uses his entire body to make music, a poet who uses his body to tell stories. Every single one of his programs is a masterpiece because he puts his all in it and keeps on improving and perfecting it. His program have depth and can only be performed by him. He always stays true to himself and his style and principles. And this is one of the reasons he stands out from the rest of the pack. This is one of the reasons why we love and admire him so much. This is why we watch his performances over and over again. This is why his programs have millions and millions of views.
