Nathan has never skated that clean with that good of jump GOES ever. He always had little mistakes or two even in relatively clean programs.

Uhm... he doesn't need that to break get massive scores and break WR. I mean we have plenty of examples all throughout the years. The score manipulation goes both way, heavily underscore Yuzu and massively overscore NC. If we take a look at the rescore of this Olys you see what I mean. doesn't matter if he skates clean, and I say this with 100% certainty, a squeaky clean Yuzu against an all-jumps-landed-no-matter-how-iffy NC (empty program aside), NC will always win unless he falls on his ass. It is just the reality of current politicking, no amount of BV setup can help Yuzu win really.

If everything was scored fairly, Yuzu would have won gold. You see here even when he fell twice, already capping his score (PCS) greatly, they still manage to underscore him, while giving NC a massive 40-point score boost. That's a 22.9% boost, in a sport where even 0.01 point matters. This kind of certain boost also lift off most of the pressure from the benefitting skater so they would obviously be even more consistent, continuing the cycle. I don't mean to be pessimistic, simply realistic. Managing expectation is key to maintaining a healthy mental state going into these kinds of corrupted comps imo.

Is there a chance that ISU gives Yuzu permission not to participate in Gala due to injury?

I don't know where is karma but I hope his tears will lead to fires in which ISU burns to ashes.

I don’t see why not.  Chen didn’t skate in PC gala - went home because he was ill.

I think they'll allow him to not participate if he asks. Not sure if he'll refuse to participate, though.

Um... this is worrying. Please there's still covid going around.

Oh my God! I'm ready to cry all day long if only he feels our hugs through these 20000 postcards.

He's a bit injured so they need to given him a pass. Get out of that place ASAP, I said.

Ratings🙄 Chen is not Hanyu. I can see how they manage to place Yuzu even with 4th place at the end to make people watch the whole gala

Maybe he wants to perform in gala to leave something "memorable" there, just a thought.

o.O wouldn't placing him at the end be outright disrespectful to NC though? Maybe he wouldn't care that much since he has the OGM already, but it would make them look really shameless

I'll support him either way, and whilst I want to spare him from covid and the media circus a small part of me does want to see a gala program. Let Yuzu skate his heart out for (probably) the last time on Olympic ice.
