Not that I didn't rush back to see the ice dance either too Of course not! ^^" It really wasn't ideal planning that some things that would have been worth seeing overlapped. It would have been sad for the ladies too if noone came to the victory ceremony, so really there was no winning once those things happened at the same time. My comments refered to the spread statements that Yuzu fans just didn't show up for other skaters - not because something else happened at the same time, but just because they apparently don't care. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear Link to comment
Danibellerika
ACI was like pretty much any other competition where it's not a full house until later groups skate, IF you're lucky enough to have a full house at all. It's been like that before Yuzu and it will be like that after Yuzu. There was a healthy attendance overall for such a minor event even with a few who decided to leave to do other things. Besides, those benches were not designed for people to sit in them for 15 hours straight. My knees and my butt hurt just THINKING about it... I saw Bruno Mars on Saturday and it wasn't completely full for the opening act (probably 75%-80%), but it was packed when he was there. That's pretty much how it goes for any show I attend. If you want to show your love as international fans of Yuzu, try to send him fanmail. Nonchan sent one in 2012 - got a response in 2014... hasn't sent one again but received a response recently! Here's another instance of him responding to fanmail. I think, I will write, although I've never done this before. In English. And I really don't care whether there would be an answer or not. Finally, for me, the aim is simply to make him get as many letters of support as possible (he said ones that although he doesn't pick himself the Poohs thrown on ice, he is happy, because their number is the symbol of the support he gets; let it be the same with the letters). The career of a professional skater is so short, and he gives as so many emotions, that whatever it can be (being in the stadium or writing a letter), I'd like to do it. Oh, no, when I became so pathetic, really. This guy is killing me. Link to comment

OH NOOOOOO Sigh, I wanted my letter delivered via Pooh mail but in the end I had to settle for dropping it in the skater's gift box... I later regretted not writing his name in both romaji and kanji, I fear it might have been ignored on the sea of clearly Japanese letters, even though mine is in Japanese If I don't get confirmation that he read it I might send him one through the federation. It is incredibly hard to write to him, like here, I often ended up rambling. Writing in Japanese was the easy part, keeping it as short as possible (a page. I filled an entire page ) with only the things I absolutely wanted him to know was the hardest part... Putting it in the skater's gift box is probably the best option to deliver your letter to Yuzu. Because we can see him and his team bringing back the bags of letters and gifts in various news clips aired after various competitions. Even when they can’t bring back all the stuffed animals, they take time to pick up the letters attached to them and make a list of address of the senders, and again take the time to reply each of them, even if it takes years. I know this from seeing various examples. JSF also transfers the letters they received to Yuzu, as Brian said in his interview. However, sending a letter via JSF would take a little more time because they would wait until they have a certain amount of letters until they send them to TCC. I’m sure he would appreciate the letter from you. Link to comment

Yatagarasu
11 hours ago, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ said: So the rest of the field don't feel like nobodies and get a fair chance to shine. This is a competitive sport at the highest level, not kindergarten games. You shine by performing at the highest level and performing well. There is literally nothing that stops all the others skaters from performing in such a way. If they do not do so, then they are not capable of it (currently or at all) and that is simply life. This is not in any way, shape or form Yuzuru Hanyu's fault, nor Yuzuru Hanyu's fans fault. It does not in any way fall on Yuzuru Hanyu's shoulders to make sure other people can "shine" nor does he, or his fans, somehow eliminate "a fair chance" for them to do so. The presence of Yuzuru Hanyu, or Yuzuru Hanyu fans, does not, in any way, impede a fair competition and frankly, I really find it highly problematic that something like that is even being suggested. Not to mention that Yuzuru Hanyu fans have always made sure to appropriately reward and cheer his competitors, as was more than evident as recently as ACI. Something that cannot always be said the other way around by the way, especially at Japanese Nationals. Link to comment
kaeryth
Quote AThere was a bit of nerves since it was the first competition of the season, but still, it was more excitement. As for why––we’ve taken four years, preparing step by step. Yuzuru had been training systematically in this off-season from end of June to August, and the precision of his 4Lo has gone up. He had also been enjoying training of the 4Lz and 4A! Quote Q: There was a gap between the Hanyu during the SP and him during the free skate at the Autumn Classics. A: I always talk about how “the first pancake is not well done.” The right heat, the cooking time, how to coordinate, et cetera– I'm now intensely curious as to where Brian got this pancake analogy as it seems he's been obsessed with it (he used it for Javi too!) Quote Q: [Hanyu] rewrote the world record in the short program. A: To Yuzuru, it must have been an experience of "it’s okay not to feel guilty for resting your body.” Because there was discomfort in his right leg Q: The free skate was––in complete reversal––a performance with many mistakes. A: ... This time, we brought down the difficulty in jumps and he wasn’t able to get fired up. So it became a chance to study Yuzuru’s character once again. Q: What kind of strategy is in place toward the Olympics? A: What’s necessary for victory, rather than the number of quads, is the completeness of the entire performance. Oh wow... right in the feels. I'm just so.. happy that Brian seems to really understand Yuzu's character with such depth. They've come a long way. Link to comment
