I mean, Yuzuru is pretty much Exhibit A for how if you get the success then the fame will follow, and that's doable while training abroad.

Per TSL, Marin Honda is going to Raf?

We discuss tickets here: https://planethanyu.com/forum/21-community-talk-tickets-meetups-etc/

But those are still weeks away. I thought so too, unless Brian is going to Japan. My friend said he specifically said "sees him on Monday" not just "talks to him".
-
My friends at Worlds said they met Brian and they asked him to give Yuzu a message that they all missed seeing him. Brian said he would tell him when he sees him on Monday. So maybe he's back?

For someone like myself who rarely watches competitions with him live (especially if it's overnight while I'm sleeping), I surprise myself for how willing I am to readily attend them in person. I do remember being at the Olympics and asking what I was doing there. It was like when I get on a roller coaster that I wasn't so sure about, but at that point I'm already strapped in and I have no choice but to go for the ride, one way or the other. I also remember there being a point where I was so nervous and wished I could just find the results online somewhere, but then at that point it's as live as it gets and I'm on the front lines. I'd be the one giving the spoilers. But when he is actually skating I am just watching it all happen one element at a time so in some ways it's a little easier being there, but only while he's skating. Though I cannot relax when I watch him, only later after I know the results. So, I mean, it's really a mixed bag for me emotionally, but the victories are Sweet. As. Hell. Gives you a natural high for days. It's been over a month and I'm still happy about it. It'll be something where I can look back on it and smile at anytime for the rest of my life.

The Power of Pooh making you learn Matrix-level reflex skills. Neo would be oh so proud. I guess I'm not the only one who noticed . She's higher up than anyone.

It took me a while to decide to vote, but I chose the 2nd one on certain conditions. I feel like if I were a 3x world champ and under, I'd rather take a 2nd olympic gold. But if I can be a 1x Olympic champion and a 4,5,6x world champion, I would be good with that. Also, for the GOAT conversation, 2 OGMs without world gold could be a tougher argument than 1 OGM and bunch of worlds.
-
Okay so now that 2 olympic golds are a thing again (discounting the team event), I wonder. Generally we look at someone who is unable to win world titles but able to win the olympics as a flash in the pan. It's always nice confirmation to be a world champion building up to being an olympic champion. But what if you could get 2 OGMs in two separate games without any world medals (of any color) as opposed to being a multiple world champion and a 1x olympic gold medallist. It's a most unlikely hypothetical scenario as there's a good chance a 2x OGM at least has a world medal or two, even if not gold, but I'm just curious. All at the Olympics and nothing at worlds, or a little bit a wealth in both... I guess I think about someone like Aliona who has 6 world championships and now and OGM. Would she trade all those to have a second OGM?

Holy Shoma Cat Reflexes Uno!!! I would have been happy to have caught just one myself! And that would have been before I'd just skated myself to a silver medal.

I would have been plenty fine with him winning minus all that angst and uncertainty. I think he would have been capable of it without having to sit out most of the season. But we'll never know and as long as he won I am willing to take the sacrifices that came with it. @kiches and I busted our asses for a whole year trying to get the seats we got for the games, checking for what probably equated to hours everyday for something to pop up, and we lucked out toward the 11th hour with good seats. All that was next was to get the results we wanted. I can say his performances made all that frustration and headache worth it, so I certainly understand the process of paying ones dues. I just think he'd already paid enough dues to deserve it anyway. And as I said before I was strictly referring to Yuzu's season here because it's his general chat. There are Non-Yuzu things to talk about, but for me that would be Aliona and Bruno's Olympic victory that I got to see in person, the Japanese ladies, my entire olympic experience, the promising russian junior ladies, etc.
-
I have a lot of Non-Yuzu stuff in that regard, but this is general Yuzu chat so that's what I was focusing on, lol. Who knows?! Whether he shelves it or not it was cool for us to see it.
-
Bye bye season! Don't let the doorknob hit you where the dog should have bit you!! Only Yuzu's 4 lutz, world record, and Olympic victory can stay.
-
I really try to make it a rule not to get too attached to juniors. But Kostornaia is making it pretty impossible. One plus is that she has awesome technique and that good foundation should put her in good stead for the long run. She really has it all.
-
I agree, but I feel like Yuzu's features are so unique that it's hard to capture perfectly. I think his face looks enough like Yuzu, but the hair definitely not. Hair is more shoma for sure.

Are you counting team event in that? Honestly I would regard SP, FS, and overall medals higher than I currently regard the team event. Because if they are going to give away more medals at least let people earn them by competing against a full field and ACTUALLY placing well enough on their own against that field. Pretty much like it is now with euros, 4cc and worlds with the small medals.

I love his bows. They say so much without actually saying anything. Like the one he did to those of us in the crowd in PC before he got off the ice after the venue ceremony. Hit me in the feels and I wasn't ready.

General Skating Chat
Danibellerika replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Yeah, his chance is better, but now it's backtracking since he didn't win the olympics. Suddenly he wasn't a heavy favorite anyway *eyeroll*.- 6,825 replies

General Skating Chat
Danibellerika replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
"Nathan Chen is arguably a bigger favorite at this week’s world championships than going into the Olympics" Jeee, that's an interesting new tune than what they weren't singing going into the Olympics. This would be news to me!!- 6,825 replies

Yuzuru's chance of competing until 2022 Beijing Olympics

And that's something a 3rd won't change because they have already made up their minds so who cares about them. -
General Skating Chat
Danibellerika replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Looking at the World medal compared to the Olympic one, Worlds, 4CC, and Euros should be ashamed of themselves. And then the individual segments are even smaller!! If one is the size of a dollar coin the short program and long program are the size of the dime. So lame.- 6,825 replies

All while injured to say the least... I still feel like divine intervention gave these results a little nudge. But I'm not going to question anything and just thank the skate gods. For him to win (decisively) after all that was thrown at him shows that this was absolutely his fate. It's been a month and I still have to remind myself sometimes that it really happened...and I was actually there.

The 2014 Patrick Chan and Yuzu Situation
Danibellerika replied to theblingmonster's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu
Kwan fans still aren't over Lipinski beating her after all these years. And not to mention Yuna in Sochi is a permanent sore spot for Yuna fans. The salt is real.- 105 replies

Okay, so in celebration of the official one month anniversary of Yuzu's amazing Olympic win, my videos are finally posted! I also updated my album with new pics (I have to fix the captions): planethanyu.com/gallery/category/12-winter-olympics-2018/ For the free skate morning practice if you live in Australia, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, South Korea, or the USA, you'll need a VPN to view it. I hadn't even watched these until around when I was going to upload them so it was pretty fun to relive it again. When he won I was screaming/laughing/crying like a banshee all at once. Here's a link to the playlist. The one with my reaction to the win starts with my screaming so please be forewarned and don't have your volume too loud:
