  1. I'm under 10 years older but close enough to it so I feel more like a big sister rather than auntie. But "ane" isn't such a popular term for types like me.
  2. That's nice but holy interlacing batman. Note to self: interlacing makes figure skaters look like a ghost.
  3. I decided to get tickets on the off chance that it works out that I can attend. Though I do think it's a decent chance Yuzu will go because he may or may not be considering the ISU world standings points wise. He sort of has some catching up to do or at the very least not fall behind even more. You could consider another celebration with him later maybe? He's only 2 he won't remember much.
  4. Greetings! Yeah, that part of DC is really beautiful and clean. When it's not a dangerously hot sauna outside it's a great place for runners.
  5. Born and raised in Washington, DC. I can't even tell you if I've been inside The Capitol, one of the city's most recognizable landmarks . I've been in places near it since my mom used to work close by, but that's about all I can recall. If I went I was a really little girl and didn't appreciate it like I would now. Only been to the top of the National Monument, our other most recognizable landmark, as a baby so I don't even remember it. The only reason I see The White House at all is because I work close by and might decide to eat lunch in that park on occasion. I've toured it a couple of times thanks to family connections, but otherwise I've probably "toured" more of Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, etc. because that was my purpose there. I totally get living somewhere but not really seeing everything about it. That's interesting considering how much stuff is filmed in Canada. I've received press passes for conventions so I get to meet a lot of celebs, even the Game of Thrones cast a couple years back. They really are just people when you get used to seeing them around all the time and interacting with them. Reminds me of a volunteer Yuzu fan in Helsinki who was star struck when she first saw him, but after seeing him around all week it sank in that he really is just a person. An extraordinary person, yes, but human nonetheless. Though I'm personally convinced he's part wizard .
  6. I can't afford to travel to Hong Kong so many times a year unfortunately. As for the People's Honor Award, there are been so many amazing things that have happened since he won. 1000th gold medal, 100k strong parade attendance, now this extremely prestigious award. I couldn't be more proud of him.
  7. I had that in Hong Kong before I went Korea. I ate it for good luck to yuzu :P. Except the whole thing was gold
  8. I wouldn't be surprised if he told Yuzu about Boyang and Med at the same time.
  9. I wouldn't assume that honestly. Javi had seniority on Yuzu but ended up at the other rink sometimes, if I was understanding Brian's quote directly about how "Sometimes we took Javi and Gabby to another rink."
  10. That also crossed my mind, but...it's so stereotypical too. Not that they are immune to being that way.
  11. That's why I don't think getting an actual photo of him should be all that difficult. ESPN is ultimately owned by Disney which owns the great Pooh himself. They are not hurting for cash. I really think this was a conscious decision rather than a cost prohibitive one. And it does add a little interest to the back of the magazine. I think they just don't know how to handle a popular male figure skater. Soccer? Gotchu. Basketball? Gotchu. Figure skating? Suddenly uncharted territory, folks .
  12. Meanwhile, People Magazine had that very photo of him that's in your avatar right now !
  13. I haven't read it yet. At first glance it looked the same.
  14. He has literally MILLIONS of photos to choose from and it's like they don't know the first thing to do. It can't be decision anxiety... But truly, I really think they thought they were doing something special. 4 pages. Most didn't get that.
  15. He is the only one illustrated. Everyone else gets actual photographs if they got more than just a listing. I can't say I understand the method to the madness.
  16. My ESPN Wold Fame 100 Magazine arrived!
  17. He starts in the summer, it's not only for the summer. He'd be working with Karen Preston and Lee Barkell primarily. One plus side is a possible Yuzu mention in Jason fluff at US Nationals, hearing him say how awesome it is to train with the two time Olympic champion with maybe a quick clip or something. Leave me to my imagination, thank you.
  18. I'm not picky whether you change a leg or not. I just remember the first time I saw it I was like So anybody that does it will get plenty of snaps from this end!! And for the record, I know people liked to be hard on Tim for his artistry but I liked him. He kept this program and I got to see it live at Worlds in DC the following year. He had the skate of his life and the crowd was really pulling for him (but Plushy still won ).
  19. I'm sure it's quite taxing which is why we hardly ever see it. Doesn't mean I wouldn't find it cool. But since you pointed out that difficulty I think it's a good time to post Tim Goebel's effortless one as his last jumping pass (he also did 3 quads in this program too making him the first man to do it at the time ):
  20. Yeah that's what I mean. Inside edge hydro to an outside edge all the way until he stops. Super cool! Usually he gets up from the inside edge and keeps it moving.
  21. I would love if Yuzu started incorporating that change of edge hydroblade (@14secs) into a stop into his competitive programs. It was super darn cool at CWW and it'd be another talking point for commentators to gush about its difficulty. Or he can do a hydroblade into a jump. I haven't seen that done since Tim Goebel. Basically, I'm in camp "evolve it". I remember when she tried to put it in an ex program and waxed out on it. She can ask Yuzu when she gets to cricket, I don't think he'd mind giving her a couple of pointers on it.
  22. I like Yuzu's ina too. Shizuka's back position is a little unusual and her legs don't have the best spread on them (allows for her to lean back like that), so I actually am a little ambivalent about the overall impression of it (and I've been watching since 2000s comparing how both she and Sasha did them). I appreciate that the back position is rare but I think when the legs have a wider spread it makes the move look "bigger". JMHO. I'm another one that doesn't care for the biellmann. When he omits it, I don't miss it or remember it's gone. It's just that after it's pointed out he didn't do it, then I start to wonder if he's okay. The layback, as it is now I'm not a fan. He would either need to fix the free leg or keep it down altogether to make it more appealing to me. But it's nice that he's trying things he doesn't always do. Either way, my fave "flexible" spin for him is still the donut spin and I don't see that changing anytime soon. I could watched him do it all day.
  23. I sat next to journalists in PC for the men's short who didn't even know who he was until he skated (or rather until they saw me with my pooh ears and banner and wanted an explanation), so I guess my expectations are pretty low too. But hey, they certainly learned that day.
