  1. Skating thread: discusses how Yuzu's 3A seems funky lately and it might be because of a certain training of a certain jump Next day: SEEMS LIKE YUZURU IS WORKING ON LANDING 4A CONSISTENTLY Well, this doesn't seem so unrealistic for me. Firstly, Ambesi said that he saw Yuzuru land it. Secondly, that 17-cm-program probably put the seed in him to try to make it work out at any cost (well, sparing his health, of course), and he's probably planning to train it even more consistently after the Olympics. The boy's gonna give us our 4A. Real soon. And we haven't even seen the 4Lz yet. Im die. I cant. With this guy. I CANT.
  2. Brian doesn't like the fact that there is nothing after that line
  3. Omg soft voice
  4. Worlds 2015 - Short Program - Yuzuru Hanyu - ITA ESP (Max Ambesi and Angelo Dolfini) [Not live] Max: And now it's time for Yuzuru Hanyu, whom represented the big 'unknown', and his beginning wasn't even one of the best. (Quadruple toeloop approaches) Angelo: At the start, 4Toeloop, he brushes the ice with his hands, step-out, he almost falls (during the live broadcast they compliment his knee bend, comparing it to the famous "Oda-knee-bend save"). Of course, -2 from almost all the judges. Even some -3. Max: There was also a debatable -1 though. Angelo: Yes, debatable for sure because the mistake was severe, it's true that there was a step before, the jump was beautiful, but... -2 was the correct choice. This Athlete is complete, let's not forget this excellent low spin with change of foot. And a great camel, with an 'Angel jump'. A level 4 spin that's worth a lot, even just as a BV. But his real advantage on Javi comes now, when he starts to jump in the second half of the SP. First, this 3Axel, preceded and followed by transitional steps. A rich Short Program, this one. And after the 3A, a combination in the second half, 3Lutz-3Toeloop. Max: And from here on, he lets himself loose (in a good way), but there's something to be said here. On every element in the short program, Hanyu beat Fernandez in everything except the quadruple. Angelo: The quadruple, of course, which gave (Javi) an advantage of 4 and a half points. Max: 4 and a half points that (Hanyu) took back and took the lead. So let's go back to the discussion regarding Grades of Execution that we opened during the Ladies' Event. If you gain a point here, a point there on every element, at the end you can even afford to do the mistake. Angelo: Exacty, because you compensate for it. Here, another high quality spin, change of edge, centered, difficult positions. His overall quality is just amazing, exceptional, his knee-bend is soft, few crossovers, a lot of steps, before the 3A, before the Quadruple, he basically does 2 crossovers, and then a spread eagle, and then the steps before the quadruple... here comes a carpet of plushies that covers the ice of Shangai... Max: His 3Axel is clearly superior, we don't even have to open the conversation. Han Yan's 3A is beautiful, they are (the 3A's) conceptually different. But Hanyu's... he enters with an outside counter and exists with the spread eagle... Angelo: It's unique. The jump itself is amazing, the height is incredible and the speed at the exit is incredible. Han Yan enters with the most speed, because he doesn't put any steps before it. So it's obviously an impressive jump, because it's 15 meters long, thanks to the speed with which he enters it. They are different jumps, two different things. It's fair to reward both. Probably, Hanyu's is the most difficult. Max: They are two different things, like you said. Also, Yuzuru was the best in the Step Sequence. Angelo: Yes, a well-skated Step Sequence, and you can also see how well he keeps the interpretation and character up until the final pose.
  5. Worlds 2015 - EX (The Final Time Traveler) ITA ESP - Max Ambesi and Angelo Dolfini All the videos are uploaded by ElenaC, who I thank so much for providing every day new commentary of Yuzuru's performances. I don't think her most recent videos were translated anywere, so I'd like to share them here. Let me know if I am doing work that's already been done! Max: Standing ovation before the skating starts, because it's time for Yuzuru Hanyu. Angelo: a Yuzuru Hanyu who presented himself in... let's say, "enigmatic" conditions. From a physical standpoint, there were many problems during the season, and yet there were many successes for this Japanese star player. Max: For him "Impossible is nothing" (he says it in English lol), this is the motto. (Angelo laughs) Where can he go when he is in good shape? We don't know. Very far, for sure. Angelo: Yes, after the first 40 seconds of the program (I think they might be referring to the Short Program) he skated in such a way... Max: Heavenly. (They Enjoy the program) (After the program is finished) Angelo: In truth, the real question is... what kind of athlete can present themselves at the 80% of condition and almost win the title... Max: Right. Only him. Also, right after being on top of the score rank, the first thing he did was encourage and shout out to his friend and training partner Fernandez, which would have skated after him to beat him, and Hanyu supported him right until the end. This athlete is unique in every and all aspects, how can you not love him. Question mark. (He says this as a question, but there's no question mark intonation in the end. He's saying it like it's a statement, "it's impossible not to love him"). Angelo: Truly. He showed all of his class, he fought until the very end, he reacted to his own mistakes and showed true sport spirit by encouraging his training partner Fernandez, and it's not even the first time, if you remember, we already saw this in the Grand Prix Final in Barcellona. Max: And we will surely come back to this, because it's a long story. Angelo: It's a nice image for this sport. (The replay finishes) Max: And after having watched in religious silence Hanyu's replay, we celebrate two legends of skating.
  6. Wow, what o_o Oh, meant like "substituted with news broadcast last moment" thing. I guess I'd better get updated as well then
  7. And I bet it also makes those other 100,000+ Japanese Hanyu Fans curious too! We just have to patiently wait.
  8. Oh right it was today. I totally forgot but there's no streaming party this time so it's okay. Won't we bee seeing twitter explode whenever they will eventually show something?
  9. I'm still not skillfull enough on Ice, and I've been on hold for these three months of Summer. But I want to start a course in September, and If I commit myself enough, I hope I'll be able to start practicing some Waltz and Single Toe-loops before the end of next year (June 2018). Yes, it's true that on Ice you have a flow and off-ice you do not. I don't have a spinner hehe, I'm just doing stuff like this
  10. Excuse me, why haven't I ever come across the most beautiful video in the world? This is amazing. This is just. On loop for the next three hours.
  11. The thing I still can't quite figure out is how do you land with delicacy. I do a single turn off-ice and I feel a damn whale, I'm not even kidding. And I doubt the feeling will go away on the ice. What does the landing depend on? Of course, the weight plays a big deal... I guess I could lose a couple of kgs to help myself, but I'm not overweight. Is it about the knees? I do bend them, but then I see myself landing too forward with my upper body and it's not really pretty. Also, how do you practice spinning faster? I'm barely doing one full rotation (off-ice). Eeek, I can't wait to have a teacher for this... I feel like I'm not going anywhere, watching videos on youtube and training jumps off-ice.
  12. Oh yes, I hadn't though about that reason as to why Yuzuru is so unusual but you are right... you don't see Asian men that have the courage to openly express theirselves and their emotions, intellectually and physically. This is one other reason as to why Yuzuru is so much stronger than he knows.
  13. Sadly I don't understand Russian, but it's enough to know that at least some have the decency not to attack a person that has already proven to be fragile...
  14. Why should a Federation attack its own athletes? What the hell?
  15. I'm crushed to hear this... I hope she will continue to get the help she needs, because as far as experience tells me, anorexia doesn't just go away. Julia seemed like a sensitive, mentally strong yet frail, talented young girl to me and if I think about all the torture and pain she must have went through because of that disorder, I just feel sick.
  16. Aaaah why did I never see this subtitled version! xD
  17. Also, the one always crossing personal space boundaries
  18. I swear the way he jumps off-ice... magical. Also, wow, already back in Toronto! He's really not losing one single day of practice, is he
  19. Should have posted the translation like Hydro but I was waiting if maybe someone found some mistakes in it The translation is something like: 羽生の平和 (Hanyu no heiwa) Hanyu's harmony 見る時自分 (Miru-toki Jibun) When I see it, I を見つける。(wo mitsukeru) Discover myself.
  20. I tried only because I felt particularily sad and started writing by myself... but I bet I totally got the concept of haiku wrong LOL. Here goes, crippling Japanese forward: 羽生の平和 見る時自分 を見つける。
  21. It sure was an interesting read. But if you read the comments under the post, the ones defending him have the most support. Haters want to hate. Yuzuru is just being himself all the time, he laughs, he plays, he doesn't care about his actions being used against him by mean people because he knows he will not be loved by everyone. It's not a problem of country, he's got so many fans in Korea, so rest assured, it will not be a complication for Olympics. As you noticed, the post was made by Japanese people. I'd even go ahead and say that most of his haters are Japanese, because in most cases the hate is fueled by him competing against other Japanese skaters. Think about how miserable those people have to be; spending their time of the day searching for gifs of an athlete they hate because they decided he's a bad person and want to convince everyone else that they are right to hate. Only writing this makes me nauseous! Don't worry about miserable people, the only thing Yuzuru would say to them is:
  22. I am 1997124 = 33 Am I winning a gold medal in procrastination?
  23. Reducing the BV and increasing the GOE to encourage quality over quantity is exactly what we've been hoping for. Of course, one should not already take for granted thaat everything is going to go as we wish it, and injustice won't have place anymore, but it surely is a good sign to me. It seems like those few voices of FS experts and critics whom asked for rules that would protect Figure Skating as a whole (sport and artistic side of it) have had the chance to make their opinions heard. Of course, you never know how reality goes. But even only saying theoretically that a change of rules will be made to encourage quality over quantity sounds like taking a stand against the youngster quad craze, and manifesting the will to protect the artistic side of the sport.
  24. Oh my God... such an adorable little kid. He genuinely looks like the nicest kid on the planet.
