Wait, no Nagasu?

The hype is what always makes me cringe whenever he is being mentioned. Most of the figure skating prodigies that I watched ended up not getting what they were 'destined for'.

That was an interesting read. They quoted some retired skaters that went to Ivy League as well. But, I am with the people who are rather pessimistic about this. Chen specifically mentioned Paul Wylie, who wisely also cautioned him that back then, it was a different era for figure skating. Beside, no offense to Wylie, but his results weren't top either. For a more contemporary example, we could perhaps take a look at the Finnish Doctor, Valtter Virtanen. Bearing in mind that Finland has among the best education system, which, at the very least, does not kill students (financially, mentally, energy-wise, you name it). I wish Chen the best. He truly wants to pursue an academic career, good for him. I am not going to hold my breath for a good figure skating career onwards, tho.

If anyone is interested in reading up just how, err, rather unreasonable the price is, here's the condition for me. Bottom line is, yeah. This is a luxury purchase. Kinda insignificant compared to anything else I have considered doing in the name of FS in general and Zu in particular, tho.

This is what I did, too. You can still track your order by clicking on the link they will send you and entering your email address and order number. I finished ordering mine in 5 minutes, give or take, which kinda make me nervous now that some people are experiencing trouble.

I'm still on the list? Lmao! I skipped the European, and totally bombed any prediction in Pairs and ID, cz I have no idea how those events work. But whoah my Oly prediction saved me. Thanks, @Joey !

Alice. Overindulging herself with gifs of Zu's PC FS YOLO combo and the actually planned combos. Not that I blame her. 3A-Lo-3S: 4T-Lo-3S: 3A-2T:

Definitely do not need another t-shirt, let alone two of them. Especially not white, cz it's among the worst colours on me. But, heh. I just ordered them. Credit card is crying, and I will be crying as well when I have to pay the customs fee. And then crying some more when I open the packet. This furthers my concession to the life of a Fanyu...

Proposed changes for next season
yuzupon replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
You took the words right out of my mouth. Or fingertips, as they are. ETA: but in the same breath, could Autumn Classics be in 'to be agreed upon' because of Zu's WR? But I mean, it was legit WR, tho. -

Ladies: triple axels and quads
yuzupon replied to Deliverpooh's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Young You's 3A3T. I hope she can add more transitions. I think the jumps are fully rotated, tho, even if the take-off to the 3T looks almost as laboured as Medvedeva's -3T jumps. -
Crossposting my post in "Hey, remember us?" thread, cz there are a number of Korean skaters in the cast list, naturally.

Hogwarts houses!!! Hi! A true hat stall, here! So, yeah, if I (still a very human, ordinary, nothing truly special specimen) get offered to choose among the 4 houses, I bet Zu would also be a hat stall, too. Not telling what I ended up choosing, tho. Have you guys heard the primary-secondary house categorisation? As in what your motivation in doing anything in life (primary) and how you do it (secondary)? Cz then it would be much more interesting. Also, I think he will be best suited with Mahoutokoro system (earning the GOLD robe as a goal, especially), which he would be attending anyway.

Medvedeva must have brought those just for her. Now, THIS is friendship.

Off topic. I'm rewatching Avatar: the last airbender. I'm at season 2 now, and when Azula met Zuko, she called him "Zuzu". I went , and promptly died of laughter Carry on.

It's on yuzu's tag on tumblr isn't it? Yeah, I saw that, too, and "block button, I shall clicky" I also flag certain skaters' name from my tumblr, so I don't have to see such posts, even if they tag Yuzu. I am sure it causes me to miss some good edits of skaters I actually like, but meh. I don't think I'll miss much. But yeah. Certainly not doing anything to endear their faves to me. To be fair, there are Yuzu fans that I blocked, too. Cz their posts are just

And also here, I think. It's a very detailed analysis. Also, when am I going to be able to recognise the steps, if Zu's the one I am learning from? Too much, too fast. Too beautiful, too distracting. Too overwhelming... In all the good ways.

Not sure which one is a better way to share a post. But, I hope it's ok with you if I put it here.

There was a reply to a tweet about that video when it was translated to Japanese, which basically said "In Japan, if you don't have a medal from WC or Oly you cannot be commentators. In Italy, non-figure skater, or finishing 27th* in WC will be commentators". I replied, saying exactly what it is: "And random people in internet get to make their ad hominem heard"**. I must say that ad hominem attack, no matter how ridiculous it can be as a logical fallacy, is indeed very easy to do. I personally tried to look into who the person who made the argument only after I weigh the argument by itself, myself. Sometimes I succeed, sometimes I don't. I usually dismiss an argument based first on its merit, and then try to understand how the author can think like that based on who they are. (An example would be the whole "Uno's jumps are bigger than Hanyu's if we consider an isolated case where friction with ice and air do not exist" nonsense from back then. How a person can make such argument makes sense only when I saw that they also believe "Unlike judges, even physics is on Uno's side".) My point is, discourse on the internet most of the time is pointless, because logic very rarely prefails. In a way, I am glad that Zu (and we) is aware of his haters, but I hope he (and we) can also disregard illogical statements uttered along the way. *I don't remember the exact number. Also is that Ambessi or Dolfini? **Ambessi liked that tweet of mine

@gladi ETA: Thank you and Tadaki for also including translator notes for things I would be very puzzled about. And also thank you for the translation of the article.
