And that's on the right foot! You know, the injured one

Yasss! This was the gift from the light operators (I don't know what they're called, and the info was from a fan who either was on the arena or in the theater). In the rabbit room I participated in, a self declared laser light enthusiast was going crazy over this, which of course makes the rest of us It's so neat! And show how people who work with Zu appreciate him so much.

Someone point out below this tweet: And this was his tweet: "but another Olympic title, and Hanyu should be called G.O.A.T." 7:04 PM - Jan 13, 2018 The moment Zu did exactly that, he moved the goalpost. A.k.a. licked his own spit off the ground. Tells you everything you need to know about how exactly this man thinks... or doesn't, as is the case here.

Max. We, fellow satellites, know the feeling. It gets frustrating when people keep being in denial of the true GOAT. They'll get there eventually, once they get out of their delusion.

That is exactly it. I know I should, and did, feel joy for Savchenko. But, it's always like that with me and pairs, be it in pairs skating proper or in ice dance. I always feel like if the skill of the two people that make up the pair is not balanced, the scoring should always be based on what the weaker skater does, not on the stronger one. That way, there's always the push for skaters to get to the level of their better partners and improve together. Otherwise, why compete as a pair at all? And so, S/H impress me the most because, in everything, as two people skating as a pair, they make it seems like they are one but in two different bodies. Han was never just there to lift and throw Sui. She might have more natural 'something' that sells programs, but Han is the first male skater that genuinely makes it difficult for me to focus only on the lady of the pair (all other pairs, yes even S/M, I am only attracted to watch the ladies when they skate, the men are usually kinda bleh - kinda the opposite to D/R and P/C in ice dance, but that's another story). So, while I am happy for Savchenko and do respect Massot for doing his best to match her - which kinda brings back to the points above re: members of a pair being balanced - I am heartbroken for S/H. 4 years is indeed a long time, and nothing is guaranteed, most of all their health. So, I am taking the route of optimistically pessimistic: 'prepare and somehow expect for the worse. If I am wrong and it turned out alright, I am in for a pleasant surprise. If I am right, well.'
-
I am already preparing for a potential heartbreak.

Ah, thank you! For clarifying that. I just needed to make sure.

Uhm, if it's in the SP, and that 3Lz is a solo jump, wasn't that the kinda thing Ambessi and Dolfini talked about in their analysis? That no matter how good the jump is, no preceeding step into a solo jump in SP should get negative GOE for not adhering to the requirement? Or is there something I'm missing here?

180+90=270. Actual 1 rotation is 360. So, if a skater PR to the max that's allowed and then UR to the max that's allowed, their triple is just a quarter of a rotation more than a double. ... And it would 'legally' still be counted as a triple. ... ... No wonder some PR-UR-prone skaters can still claim they do legit triples (ladies) and quads (men). ... ... This is why I will never fully understand why I like this sport (well, except for the incredibles that showed up every now and then) That said, I can't wait to see how divided satellites judging will turn out to be

"Slight outside edge" is lutz. Most lutzes are slight outside edge, even if they are supposed to be more than just "slight". What is technically okay, is 'slight inside edge' for Flips. Or that's what I know anyway. And, so yes, Wakaba's 3F there is indeed "!". If the skaters change edge before take off, it's still lips and flutzes. Flats receive "!". Outright lips and flutzes receive "e"

Ah, there she is! Audition, succeeded

And since it's him, that type of shoes must have continued being released. I would love to do that too *looks at my fraying favourite running shoes in dismay* if only they haven't discontinued the type.

Ciontu black shirt and black track pants!!! Also, how long has he had those Asics shoes?

Quick googling tells me: Canada, UK allow ice skates on carry on TSA doesn't --> probably another reason why Zu doesn't do SA anymore I remember my friend who was travelling internationally with her art equipments which includes many sharp chisels. She was able to arange for the art toolbox to be in the cabin, but stored personally by the flight attendants somewhere safe, and she could take it back when she left the plane. She doesn't have any special connection to any airline and is nowhere near as famous as Yuzu. I am in the camp who believes that Zu or his team would have made arrangement so that his skating equipment can be easily accessible.
-
The Olympics channel made Yuna's version of this, too.
-
This is obviously more plausible than my theory: He left half a pair of those behind one of his donated boots, and so organiser put it on display anyway. ... Obviously, I should be nowhere near any theory making.

This is "Awwww, the teeny tiny wings!" and at the same time. ETA: this also means, they either take angel dolls of cupid dolls to make Zu's dolls

Those jump landings... Talk about his philosophy in approaching life, start with his quotes, for example, "I hate it when I am weak, but having weakness means I can be stronger", then tie it in with his struggle to achieve success. You should probably not take any advice from me, cz I am notorious for turning a speech into a rambling.

This... I am torn between and "Hey! You don't talk about our prime minister's butt like that! Pooh's butt is nice!"

Reading your reply kinda makes me think that I might have misunderstood the purpose of this mock judging? I think it is already established that making judges check bullet points in real competitions takes time and is still highly inefficient (technology still not permitting, etc); I wasn't disputing that. My understanding of why we're doing this is that we want to see how "a relatively ideal" judging, where time is of no relevance and we can be as close to the guidelines by ISU, would measure up against the actual judging. And then, perhaps we can see truly just how viable this "relatively ideal judging (plus minus fans' effort to be unbiased)" is, how much different the results would be, and kinda take that into informing us on how we can view figure skating judging in the future. --> That, as I tend to make everything to be, the "we are taking this seriously" view on this mock judging. We can also just do it absolutely for fun, in which case, everything goes, and it absolutely doesn't mean this is what we demand judges do in real competition. ... no? I only did 1 skater's SP, you know who, and it took me 20ish minute.
-
I understand that. But checking the bullet points should help, no? We round up or down, but with a clear indication of just how many bullet points were checked. Instead of having only 1-2 positive bullet points checked, but the jump "feels" like a +2GOEs (especially when "compared to other skaters' jumps" come into play), hence +2 it is. My understanding is that the bullet point checking is there to try to minimise the subjectivity as much as possible. And, that there is a universal standard in scoring, instead of pitching skaters against skaters, which makes scoring fluctuate insanely from one competition to the other. Rubrics for evaluating students are also supposed to work that way, yes? For the purpose of this Mock Judging, we're trying to do that by following the guidelines as much as possible, aren't we? After all, none of us here would (should?) declare we have enough expertise to know when and by how much we reward what details which skaters did. What comes out as the result later, could then perhaps be a start of argumentations on whether trying to stick to the guidelines as close as possible could (would) potentially further or hinder the sport. *On @Raomina's app, the GOEs deductions are done flat, with explanations. It's quite an extensive app. I am still not sure how scores from multiple people can be gathered, however. I'll explore more once my exam is done.

@Raomina life saver!!!!!!!!!!! Phew!

In terms of actually having steps into his jumps, yeah? Cz normally, when people say a skater is having more preparation into jumps they meant a longa** set up where they do nothing but glide from one end of the rink to the other in order to jump. E.g. Chen's many quads FS tends to have nothing else but 'jump preparations' and jumps and Nagasu's neverending prep to her 3A. The medals, the sock, and all the pictures

Well, those stans who didn't even realise that Messing's SP is also a repeat from last year? Why care about the opinions of such ignorant people, really. Also, let's see. Watch them exclude Seimei, but include Turandot in the Men's FS iteration later.
-
The exclusion of Chopin is baffling, but not really. And non-deluded fans can see clearly the reason. NEW program? Messing's a repeat. In pairs, S/M's and J/C's FS are also repeated. In ID, W/P's FS is a repeat. And watch them put Zagitova's FS later in the Ladies. Also, stating the suspicion that Zu's SP is not included cz IN wants Chen to win is not a hate on Chen. It's a fair read, based on what IN is doing. I was thinking, ah, perhaps because Zu didn't compete enough this season, but then they erased Jin's SP as well. So. Watch them exclude Seimei as well later
