  1. Those were performances from the last quad. Different rules, no? It's going to be a hassle for TPs (and me, and others who will hopefully potentially help with spreadsheet)
  2. Ah, if I have that much time, I think it is more doable. I'd make a sketch and ask for inputs first. After my exam. This is really bad, cz I am more motivated to start sketching it instead of preparing for the exam. Help!!
  3. I have an exam this Friday, but after that, I can work on that spreadsheet formula. The idea is that it should be able to 1) list BVs of elements automatically (tho, I'd need help with the V calls on spins), 2) look up raw GOEs and PCS and factorised them accordingly, 3) be user-friendly (which is where I would probably fail) Tho, for falls on jumps... I think it would be easiest if the judges to just do the appropriate mandatory max -GOEs yourselves, yeah? Unlike IRL judges (I am still dreaming for one day, one of the computer programming gurus among FS fans would come up with a dummy-proofed scoring system program. - Look at that sentence! How do you English? - And then we can shame ISU with it)
  4. This is 2013 WC, I think. Zu fell to 9th place after a rather disastrous SP, and was afraid that would cost them JP's 3 spots. Plus, the year before he did rather well, and this was the first season with Orser, where everyone and their grandmothers were questioning why he was not improving. He ended up placing 4th after FS that year.
  5. Oh, wait. Are we publishing the mock panel outside of the forum? I thought it's just for internal fun? About Ambessi and Dolfini. I give up on the people who call these two biased based on that analysis. I am not sure how you can look at that analysis with clear slow-mo examples to back what they were talking about, and then your only response is to cry "Biased!!!". It comes from people who clearly cannot look at the argument at face value and instead attack based on reputation/past argument/personal preference. But you're right. Based on how these two got treated, any mock panel coming form Yuzuru Hanyu fan forum would be met with fire and fury. I would advise against publishing it outside of the forum.
  6. I can maybe contribute to figure out the spreadsheet formula if no one else is doing it. I can't judge, cz I'd be scoring everyone below 7 in PCS, and GOEs from me would range from -3 to 1. I tend to underscore everything and everyone. Yes, even Zu, despite being outraged when he is being underscored by judges (Cz I always feel like his score should probably not go that high by itself. But relatively to how the others are scored, goddammit! Zu is underscored). I can't do TP either cz while jumps, and maaaaaybe spins are somewhat recognisable for me, this is how I differentiate Stsq and Chsq of skaters that still some semblance of steps in their Chsq: "Is there Loop? If yes: Stsq".

  8. That's a good point, but then it also applies to the -Lo-3F combo. My question is more like, we know that Zu is more naturally inclined to take off from an outside edge when doing toe jumps. And so, doing a quad flip will not work since that natural inclination would be more pronounced in the quad iteration and make him lip instead. But what about putting 3F as the last jump in the said 3-jump combo? Would that be more or as difficult or easier? Why?
  9. Alice, on Zu's possible layout in the future, taking into account the reduced number of jumping passes, plus usual suspicion of his reluctance to drop any jump type. 4Lz / 4Lo / 3F || 4S+3T / 4T / 3A+3T / 3A+1Lo+3S 4A isn't mentioned yet. She also said he could do 3Lz and put 3F in combo as opposed to 3S. I asked her whether it would be more difficult for Zu to do 4F or AnyTriple-Lo-3F combo. What does the Planet think?
  10. Wait, wait!! I get where this whole Yuzu's LGC is restrained comes from!!! It's from the very fact that this is a Short Program of Figure Skating!! You know, there's the whole technical requirement, listing on top of my head: One solo triple or quad jump, that is preceded by recognisable steps One combination jump, a quad-triple, a quad-double, a triple-triple, or a triple-double One 2A or 3A No jump type can be repeated except in the combo 3 spins, one must be the flying type Stsq with different steps, counting toward the level See, those requirements restrain the skaters, including Yuzu!! Rock stars do not have those restrain!!! They can do whatever they want on stage, ergo their performances are not restrained!!
  11. What I meant is I give up trying to make them understand why we are reacting the way we are reacting, precisely because they never engage with any of my points. I would only be dragged further into ad hominem, which I utterly despise. This tho, criticism against Yuzu is fine. Do we not always rip him apart? For stubbornness, his recycling, not fully trusting his training at times, H&L which doesn't give full impact until it was performed flawlessly, etc, etc, etc. What is NOT fine is criticising him irrationally. Especially not here on this Planet. So, ignore button, here I push.
  12. I'm going to ad hominem territory here, which by your respond and the way you only respond to that 'also' part of my reply regarding literal rockstars vs rockstar aura, I will consider a normal discussion. Unless the mods tell me that's not, that is. It's 'generational thingy' and Asian's in general but Japanese in particular 'restrained persona'. That's 2 generalisations in the span of 16 posts. Whew. It's funny that you are insisting on knowing the 'restrained' of Asians cz you yourself are Asian, and yet, this is how you post things. Look, saying you don't like Yuzu's interpretation of LGC for whatever reason is fine (I personally don't like LGC aesthetically - rocks hurt my ears, the costume hurts my eyes. But I am more than in awe of the technical prowess it takes for him to bring that performance out. He took it to the point where you won't be able to mistake that program for any of his more flowy, ethereal programs, even if the music is not on. It also shows Yuzu's versatility as a performer). You wouldn't get the reactions you are getting at the moment. What you are doing, saying Yuzu wasn't able to properly embodied the rockstar feel of the program because he is Japanese who are stereotypically more restrained, is the problem. You are basically putting Yuzu in the usual 'he is Japanese' box, which is not only very a shallow move but also it is the VERY thing we are raging against the typical western media coverage of him. And again, we are talking about Yuzu interpreting a rock song in a figure skating performance, not him trying to imitate your precious rockstars. Dear God, please let at least that point get through. ETA: just saw your post above mine. Alright then, you don't think Yuzu is a rockstar. I concur. Should have just stop there, instead of playing the 'it feels like a Japanese trying so hard to look like a rockstar', which is the point where I go 'WHUT? How does Yuzu being a Japanese preclude him not being a rockstar? And so, does that mean no Japanese can be a rockstar?'
  13. Then I am guessing it's just a different interpretation of what 'rockstar aura' means to you and the rest of us. If you pitch Yuzu against a literal rockstar, of course he would not measure up. The same way literal rockstars would not measure up to Yuzu in figure skating. 'Rockstar aura' in my book means owning the stage and demanding audience to enjoy your performance the same way you enjoy it. And in figure skating, that's Yuzu. Also, may I suggest to be a little more careful with the generational generalisation? Cz boy would that turn ugly in no time.
  14. @eagle I'm kinda curious. If you say Yuzu doesn't have a rockstar aura, who among the skaters would you say have it? Or none of them, probably, because they are not, you know, rockstars?
  15. I've never seen this before. It's subbed. Also, this channel is brilliant.
  16. Mai Mihara's FS at 4CC, Jp Nats, and CdP Boyang Jin winning 4CC Ladies JGP - what even Watching the entire JGP while commenting here, which leads to Me recognising jumps and spins after watching closely for one season. I have a clear affinity to cold numbers, and starting to be able to tell how one skater is technically superior to the other, no matter what judges and tech panels said, is a personal achievement for me Watching Wakaba Higuchi's FS live at Challenge Cup. While wasn't her best outing, I get to see the new badass black outfit with my own eyes and get a picture taken with her. (Plus, I get to help a friend of another satellite understand a bit of what was going on with my constant commentary of what jumps and spins were being done - this is related to the point above) Being a part of the birth of this Planet
  17. The Sendai parade t-shirts were all white. This, THIS, has a black option!! And pretty design.
  18. Bringing more of Zu's YOLO jumps, courtesy of, you guess it, Alice. Starting from the days of young Romeo (RJ1), since he popped his 3Lz that's supposed to be in combo: 3S2T: There are 2 more, and then this super rare jump combo from bby Seimei. This was because he stepped out of a 3A, of all things. 3Lo1/2Lo3S: There's a 3A in Requiem when he popped the 1st one, and then the whole beautiful and still calculated mess of 2017's 4CC, ending with this 3A out of an Ina Bauer right before the ending spin. You can see Brian losing some more hair there. Then, the 4T1/2Lo3S from WTT 2017, which, quoting Alice, "... I’ve no idea how he managed to stay on his feet throughout that combo because he was all over the place on the landings of both the quad and the triple" She closed it with the most recent 3A1/2Lo3S in PC (done to recover the failed 4T-combo), from another angle.
  19. Bringing this here in case the discussion grow. 3A as 2nd jump in combo would make the combo counted as a 'jump sequence' instead (will get +SEQ in protocols). The 3A then would only worth 80% of the BV. Considering, as you said, most people don't even have a good 3A, it wouldn't be wise for them to jump it only to have it scored 80% of its BV. Some ladies, e.g. Daleman and Tuktamysheva on top of my head, do jump 2A in sequence. But that's because 2A is relatively easier, and 80% of its BV of 3.3 is 2.64, higher than any other double jumps' full BV. So, if they have a full set of good triples, jumping one of their 2A as 2nd jump in a sequence could actually give them a TES boost, depending on how good a GOE their 2A usually give them.
  20. So, since I am who I am, instead of preparing for yet another re-sit examination (I have failed the exam for this particular course 3 times already, yay me!), this is what I do: My favourite kind of 'What-ifs'!!!
  21. In I, Tonya the 3A was CGI-ed. At least that's what Allison Janey said (she was training FS professionally, so at least she knows what she is talking about) But, yes. The possible intentional inaccuracy that would exaggerate western influence to his success and diminish as much of Zu's Asianness as possible would make me
  22. The remake possibility is indeed bigger. Also, yes. Please let that not happen.
  23. Just, can I please not have it done by Hollywood? I wouldn't be able to stand the inevitable exaggerated drama, whitewashing, and unnecessary romance. I mean, you know. Being the naturally sceptical person I am, I can see a million different ways a movie about Yuzuru Hanyu would be botched. And so, can this movie be out when I finally learn Japanese, so that I don't miss out on any nuance the English language often unable to capture?
