Uhh.....might have gotten the date wrong. Just making a guess on a probable one. Go right ahead and correct me if I'm wrong (there's a 50% chance I am). So I came across this again the other day: This is the Kozuki Sports Award and Athlete Acknowledgment Ceremony that was held back in 2014. Hanyu was awarded the biggest award there for his achievements, and was the representative chosen to speak on behalf of athletes who were awarded in the event. He gave a speech that's a little over 4 minutes long which I haven't seen a translation for floating around, though I very well could have missed it. If one does exist, here's the version I did of it anyway: (Speech starts at the 9:17. If your want to see him accepting his award, it's starts at 7:29, right before his speech.)

So a few months ago, @kaeryth very generously sent me her copy of the Yuzuru Hanyu quote book bc she was moving house (thank you!) Ideally I would love for people to support by buying the book but I’m aware that Japanese language books are inaccessible (in terms of understanding content) for many people so I hope to pay her kindness forward and share a little of the content - not all of it and not the photos but the quotes. So in the lead-up to the Olympics, I’ll be translating some select quotes from the book every few days on my Twitter and posting the extended versions here and on Tumblr, in the hopes that these might provide some inspiration …

Hello I recently came across a rare interview with Yuzuru Hanyu that hasn’t been widely translated. It includes some insightful comments about his training philosophy & future plans. I'm gonna be honest, I wanted to post these mainly because someone is apparently walking around calling Kikuchi-san a witch, which is HILARIOUS. The rest of this is old news now anyway, and draws liberally on the Informe Robinson show (about the differences between Yuzu and Javi, Javi saying they're not super close, etc). Hi everyone, recently I had the fortune to talk to Edvin Marton, the composer of 'Art on Ice' and 'Magic Stradivarius', the two songs of Origin. He kindly answered my questions about the creation of these songs (well, mainly about 'Art on Ice'), his friendship with Plushenko, Kings on Ice & ice shows, and then I asked some questions about Yuzu, too. He was there at last year's Rostelecom Cup to cheer for Yuzu and that was also the first time they met. Whelp, let it not be said that our man Hanyu with his wise words isn't a massive motivator. Thought this would take me ages but only ended up taking me a few hours over a couple of days.
