Katt
I like Nathan's music choice. I hope the choreo will be good and it won't end up like Nemesis and MLD Jeremy's ex is great. He has great posture and SS which is a need for this kind of music. A big challenge for Nathan I think

The first half seems like Mao's Last Dancer, the second half seems like Nemesis, and there's also this:

I LOVE the music. And the choreo or step sequence, at the end, looked lit! Seeing it in musical context from that video posted a while back makes a lot more sense. WinForPooh
I like the music, but if that becomes a crossover-jump thing, it's going to be very obvious and really stark.

Korean boys seem to grow a lot and another POTO RE: Nathan FS I might like the music It looks like we start seeing a pattern in Nathan's music choices, and I quite like that they are somehow different from usual FS music (and that he stopped going for ballet, tho maybe that was how his team wanted to package him and now he has a little more freedom to choose what he likes..this is my speculation, I don't follow Nathan enough to know), tho I'd also be curious to see him with...idk, a Turandot maybe has he ever skated to that kind of music? choreo: I've watched it without audio and it didn't hold my attention a lot, tho quality of the video was very low and often he was out of frame. For now I like the second half more. From the insta snippet it looked like that part had very strong Nemesis vibes in both type and quality of movements. Anyway, imo it's too early in the season to say if it's going to be much different or not (not to talk about what will happen with all the quads in place) eta: 1 hour ago, WinForPooh said: I like the music, but if that becomes a crossover-jump thing, it's going to be very obvious and really stark. but if he uses the slower part of the song for setting up for the quads and uses upper body choreo it will be just like last year and it didn't matter fo his scores... Chances are high this FS is going to have a very lit stsq and ChSq that will make people forget/forgive that he wasn't doing that much between jumps... IMO Nathan's strenght is that he can sell quite well the non-jump part (and of course that he can land a variety of quads)

It was pretty stark when he landed six quads last season, too, but didn't matter to the scores. Ah well, maybe it won't be all empty and he'll have deeper edges. We'll see. That was not ballet IMHO. Actually he should refrain from prolonged ballet phases (aka avoid it for the LP), and he could try it for the SP (le Corsaire was ok). I hope he varies his skating speed a bit at least. My fear is that like Nemesis, the music will be a piece that can be skated at an even/same tempo throughout, and where the choreography might carried more by the music rather than the skating. Le Corsaire is my favorite Nathan program. As for Mao's last dancer, it doesn't matter if the music was ballet or whatever because there was very little choergraphy anyway so he could be skating to any music and it wouldn't have made a difference. It is however my biggest disappointment last season because I really liked the music IMO, Nathan's problem is that his programs are segmented, namely you can pinpoint exactly where each element begins and ends. His performance rarely feel cohesive and after watching him I find myself only remembering few seconds of the program while the rest never sticks in my memory because it is just forgettable. He has some standout elements and some very mediocre ones but they don't feel very connected. It is really a shame because, performance wise, when he hits he is wonderful but when he misses he is very underwhelming.

I don't think ballet suits Nathan, and Nemesis was the program he did the best. MLD was a beautiful program, that lost everything by the end of the season. He never developed any ability to deliver it convincingly, either, though.
Neenah
Nathan's short program looks promising This program feels like something Boyang would excel at. An interesting choice for Nathan and he seems to be enjoying it

It’s funny, they never impressed me much when watching on TV but in the arena I got it.
WinForPooh
There were steps before that Lz in the SP! And the LP first jump looked like a loop. Wonder what layout he's going for. I like the music choices, but I expect the programmes to peak at SkAm and go downhill from there. Like Nemesis did. And the scores to keep going up. Like they did last season.
