Can someone explain Nathan's score to me. Why does he get credit for a Quad Lutz combo when no second jump ever happened. I know they only gave him 4 L BV minus fall deductions. Just feel like missing a combo like that should have greater deduction. After all if you jump a double like Denis, you get no credit at all.

I think I know where your confusion is coming from. Zu's +COMBO on WC '17 SP, even when he actually jumped the 2Trippon, and didn't do a 3turns, but was judged 'transferred body weight' anyway.

Basically, the way it happened is that Tech Panel put +COMBO unto one of the single jumps that punishes the skater the least.

So, in Chen's case, he jumped 4T and 4Lz. Putting +COMBO in 4Lz punished him less than in 4T.

It's very similar to Kolyada's case. That is putting +COMBO in his 4T punished him less than in 3Lz. (He also got similar calls for one of the competition when he popped the Sal, I think it was, and also miss the combo).

Now, just why tech panel decided to be generous to and ruled for the benefit of these two while they didn't to Zu back then, that's how you get Ambessi (and all of us) went rather crazy last time (and will forever stink this sport in my eyes).

I know it's different people at the tech panels, but these things should have been standardized.

Thanks! Yeah the two types of mistakes shouldn't ever been in the same ballpark

Not just that. But the whole 'ruling should be to the benefit of the skaters'. It is a good policy, but it becomes a permanent stinking sh*t when only applied to certain skaters, seemingly willy-nilly (I mean let's face it, it's not exactly willy-nilly, but eh.).

Thank you so much!!! I just spent hours trying to work out how to get it off my DVR and on my PC (and forgot to eat dinner in the process.)

Judges' scoring by skatingscores .

I dream of a world where judges can completely be nonpartial towards their countrymen.

Look at the judges from China and Spain.

But then the judges from Canada and Uzbekistan did that.

Judge from Australia still gets the cake, tho.

It needed a proper super S type to bring it out, kinda like Nobu said, there are some S's you hate and some you like, and you happen to be following an S who happens to be the lovable S type.

I just saw this and totally read the entire thing as Salchow. Maybe there's something in this sleep thing after all.

I wonder what's wrong with the Japanese judge. Actually I find myself wondering that quite often. Is it a matter of principle to underscore their own skaters or what?
