At this point? No, I don't know if moving to Brian is going to work wonders for Nathan. No, the US media needs to do a 180 and start supporting Nathan, because this Olys is scarring. There's a high possibility he'll reconsider whether to quit or not after this cycle (med school probably looks attractive now) especially with all the media bashing now, and that's how you destroy all these potential medalists in the bud before they even develop. 

 

No, Nathan needs support, not necessarily a coaching change. If they latch on and bash Raf now, that would still hurt Nathan. He's an asian kid remember, we tend to feel bad if adults have to shield us, especially if it's a coach we respect. It's not even Raf or Nathan per se, it's the media hype, and that USFSA did nothing to shield him. 

 

Edit: question, why is it that whenever coaches are mentioned, no one bothers to mention John Nicks or even Robin Wagner?

If Nathan decides to continue skating, I hope he will do it out of a genuine love for the sport. I'm not at all convinced that skating is truly his passion. Just because you have a natural talent for something doesn't mean you will necessarily love doing it. Tiger parents and tiger coaches can do a lot of damage.

I will say though with Raf, you can't throw in jumps and think it'll happen. that was probably a bigger blunder than Napoleon attempting to invade Russia during winter.  This was Nathan's first olys

why didn't he try to prepare him a bit more?? instead of "lol land the jumps you want and gold medal is yours"

on rewatch for the nth time, the camera angle is pissing me off  it would look better if you show it from the other side  like going into 4s, and the start of stsq! what a waste.... but anyway, im still happy

the camera angles were the worst i hated them so much

I slept a total of 90 minutes last night... and am now at work with a headache, drinking green tea, to try not to fall asleep lol It was totally worth it. And I can confirm that hugging a Pooh while watching Yuzu feels really good!

 

I have no idea when I'll be able to catch up with everything... was there any video footage of the press conference?
