Everyone who has twitter and wants to send Waka some words of support after her likely end of GPF chances, she tweeted something here. It's not a lot, but maybe a bit of love from skating fans can cheer her up, and there are already 50 comments to it <3

Thank you. Just did it. I hope she knows how many support she gets how much she's loved and it will make her stronger.

Wakaba still has a chance ... if one of Karen, Gabby, or Satton wins Skate America  ... And she has the highest combined total of her, Polina, and Ashley Wagner (the latter of whom won't be hard to beat, but Polina can't score above 212).

How can Polina not score above 212? And how will Ashley not be hard to beat?

Yes, technically Wakaba still has a chance, but come on... it's super unlikely.

Edit: And why does Polina need a 212? To have a higher combined total then Wakaba, she needs a 209+ in SA, slightly lower then her NHK score.

Well it depends on how Gaby and Karen do, and both are the types that build up steam later in the series. For all we know it could go Gaby-->Karen-->Ashley/Polina. Stranger things have happened so far...

*Sigh* No twitter courtesy of the Great Firewall, but I hope Wakaba is feeling alright. She has won over so many hearts already this season!  Neither she nor Mai got easy picks, and the judges sure are not going easy on the Japanese ladies this season.

I'd rather say both are very inconsistent in general, and especially Gabby still seems to need time to come back from her surgery in the off-season. Plus, we are still at the beginning of the season ^^"

Also, Ashley is the only hope the US has left for a lady at the final. I wouldn't underestimate that. If they just decide to turn a blind eye to her technical problems, her scores could be huge. And Polina would need to skate worse then at NHK or be even more underscored (she was very underscored there IMO). Her score from NHK was higher then Karens PB anyway, and Gabby has only scored higher once IIRC, WC last season.

Oh, my mistake, I misread the tiebreaking criteria. It's combined score rather than highest score, so yes Polina needs 209+. Which is possible, for sure, but not guaranteed.

Ashley, however, as long as she doesn't win the competition, will have a tough time beating Wakaba in a tiebreaker, since her score was 183.94 at Skate Canada. So it won't be hard to beat Ashley in a tiebreaker if she places 2nd.

So basically it hinges on someone who isn't Polina or Ashley winning, and Polina not scoring above 209. The only skaters who can realistically win are Karen, Gabby, and Satton. Gabby is inconsistent but can do it...Karen has a good record skating in front of a home crowd at Nationals, so it might be possible for her to do it again, and she'll get a push because it's SA. Satton...well. But it's a slim chance.

So I'll root for a SA podium of satton, gabby ashley in third...I know it's unlikely, but damn I want satton to do well...
