Coach Utako interviews Keiji for “Utako’s Room”

Quote

Utako: Right. Before you arrived in Milan, the skating boots you were wearing up until now broke. And then, on top of that, when you got to the arena, you started working so hard to get used to the new boots quickly that you used too much strength and the new ones ended up breaking, too. That kind of thing also had an effect on your performance, didn’t it?

Keiji: Yes, that’s right. My boots broke five days before my arrival. Just after getting to Milan, I started practicing and, when the new boots broke, it was like my heart broke with them.

Poor Keiji! We didn't hear a lot about him during Worlds and now to read this...

Ohhh, Keiji. :13877886: I wish I could give all these Japanese skaters citizenship so they wouldn't have to battle for spots. It's not like we need them. (I really should try to be at least a tiny bit patriotic. :P

Think I've seen this photo shared in General Thread. He is a Japanese junior skater Shingo Nishiyama who has been training at TCC alongside Yuzu.

Absolute Skating has recently released his long interview and it was interesting.

He talks mainly about how they train at TCC, how coaches teach them as a team in this interview but we can also get a glimpse of how young skaters go abroad to learn more and how people around them support it.
