I mean I was watching in the middle of classleave me alone okay lmao  with the crappiest stream so I might need to go back and rewatch, but pretty sure 4F was <180 on landing. Actually I didn't even think abt his PR...

:sigh: you are right. Not only did he have a forward takeoff (his body was facing forward while his blade-picking foot was still on the ice), he had a forward landing as well (his lower body, thus landing foot was facing fully forward, while he forced his upper body to be in the proper landing position, hence the fall).

I am admittedly not a fan of his, but if any of his fans here can convince me any of those things are just in my imagination, it will help my sanity, I guess:shrug:

I only watched Javi and Shoma so far (in that order), so I sincerly can't say anything about the others yet, but. This Chaplin is the best he's had this season, there's that sense of relaxation and self-enjoyment inbetween jumps and something I thought only Yuzuru could do, that is, even with this microsecond of hesitation inbetween combo jumps, his jumps looked like he didn't rush any of them AT ALL, like he didn't care, enjoying himself so much that it just came? and went? Even the axel, which usually I watch with a 'so fine...but I'd like it to be lighter, like Yuzu's' had this air of being lighter than usual...

Contrary to Shoma... I wonder if his tenativeness came from this flu and feeling of not having enough training under his belt... and whoever threw the lettuce was just mean on that day- I mean, trying to think positively, if Shoma skated well, it would probably be meat...I hope so  poor Vincent though, with his BV I would think he'd be higher, did he have a meltdown? Or did TP just marked his carrots and that threw him down so much?

He fell on his non-axel jumps, both due to UR-ing imo, and hence, no combo. How old is he? Could he also have stayed Junior another year, like JunHwa?

I actually think, now that the 3turn allowance has been explained to me and with the exception of Shoma's PR, the tech panel's calls for Men's SP this time were ok.

:consoling2: thank you for trying anyway.

I think he and JunHwan are the same age? Nope, he was 17 by the end of October, Junhwan was 16, so they are one year apart. Doesn't change the fact he could've stayed in Juniors (then again we know somebody else who moved to seniors at 16, and was one of the top skaters at 17...but he also wasn't gunning for Olympics in the same year, I guess...).

Edit: and this is how I become LGC. I guess that's those kids motto nowadays...

I like Shoma, but I'm aware of his mistakes. It makes me sad, but nothing can be done. Only he can correct that. I hope he still can. I have Yuzuru for reference, so I can not fool myself. Yuzu is not perfect, but he is capable of the impossible to be. Congratulations to Javi.

I don't think so. Misha was clean, Denis was not. I am not saying Misha deserved 3-4 points higher, but .14 difference is too low.

I rewatched their programs and I still stick to my opinion that the scoring was okayish. The fall on Denis' 4S gave nothing away from his beautiful interpretation and performance of the whole program and it didn't really affect the other components either. His SS are a bit better than Misha's, he was even underscored a bit there. Both performances were very nice today, and I like both skaters... but I don't think Misha should have got higher PCS than that. Maybe it's not that evident on TV but Misha's skating is really slow compared to other guys and comparatively, Denis has better speed and also overall flow on the ice. too. They both competed at Rostelecom where I saw them skating and it's even more visible live in the arena.

I gotta say that while I'm not his biggest fan ever, Denis Ten's skate was gorgeous. I really enjoyed it, even with the fall. He did well today, definitely an improvement.

Too bad about Vincent, not his biggest fan either, but he's really too young to put so much strain on his body, both physically and mentally...

He was actually 15

Got hijacked by the uninitiated- never thought I'd say this but I'm glad the next competition and GPF are out of my time zone, I can't bear to explain the GP allocations even one more time (not that my own understanding is perfect).  I'm sorry if this has already been dealt with, but Shoma having an ankle injury was just Hanratty talking out of the hole where his brain leaked away - he had flu not an injury?

Hush, hush, first Senior medal was "already" at 16 xD (I just don't want to terrify Juniors to come, I mean, he literally won EVERYTHING in his SECOND year in the circuit...Has there ever been somebody like that before? I mean, ladies I understand but men?)

Yep, Shoma fans on Tumblr confirm it was flu, ankle injury is Yuzu, but you know, they are both soo Japanese, so...(lolsob)

I know- the confusion is perfectly understandable if H & co  were a litter of concussed kittens instead of professional commentators

a concussed kitten might do a better job

tbh before today I'd have trusted the british uncles about Shoma being injured, because of their fellow commie being linked to Shoma, but after the debacle about Javi... nope, I won't trust a word they'll say.

though it was suspiciously similar to what they said in SC too...so

1) maybe Shoma had an injury but he recovered. He was a bit tentative and simplified his FS layout in SC already. Then he got sick, so it makes sense that he still isn't in his top condition

or

2) they merely like to made up things and ankles are trending...

Anyway, there is a positive trend here for jpn skaters, talking about illness/injuries before the comp is better than just go out there like a samurai and then receive all the backlash. Good. Boys are learning (tho I bet there is still some PR there. Rightfully so)

tho Yuzu had no way to hide his condition anyway, with camera filming. I wonder, without that injury would he have ever breathed a word about his fever?:slinkaway:)

And btw I'm still betting on Shoma gold, gotta have at least the first two places for my predictions right, after Vincent sabotaged himself  (it's sad to read his words, but good thing he wants to fight back)

ETA wait I've realized that would mean half bomb for Javi :tumblr_inline_ncmiffG34Z1rpglid: nope nope nope

oh well, just do your best guys and please don't kill yourself out there (and please spare the fans' hearts too):snonegai:

Didn't they already talk about Shoma having an ankle injury during skate Canada? :smiley-rolleyes009: not sure though how accurate the information was even back then.

Maybe in a year or two, in a documentary. :waffle:
