unless alina and kaetlyn completely bombs at cup of france I think it's highly unlikely she'll made GPF :slinkaway:

Especially considering they both have clear advantages going in already: judges' and tech panel's blind 'dedication'. Hence, the profanity.

Still gonna root for Mai, tho. My hope is on the skater herself and on the pendulum of justice swinging her way. (ETA: wrong metaphor, but you have to excuse me, my brain is trying to balance potential aneurysm with clear thoughts)

I can't even concentrate, I'm still too pissed off Wakaba got lower PCS than Alina.

I don't want to say it and maybe here isn't the right place for discussion (happy to move it if so) but honestly...how much of this may be because Wakaba doesn't look like the ~typical~ skater. If my conservative Asian parents can remark on it & I have to fight to get their attention when she skates....... I don't doubt some of this BS filters in at least subconsciously in certain judges' minds, esp if they're around my parents' age. Which is a bullshit factor but I'm not gonna pretend it isn't playing on my mind when I see the PCS differences sometimes. There's a certain 'halo' effect around the perceived ~elegance~ of slender limbs >______>

I don't think it's just that, politicking has it's part here too but I do believe that it is a part of the issue. She's not the slim 'ballerina', her body type is 'wrong', and the rest of that bull.

Another thing is that I don't think JSF is pushing Wakaba. At all. Even remotely. It's necessary. It's just how skating works. I also don't think they're doing enough for Mai either. But what can we do but watch our blood pressure go up and up. Seriously, then they wonder why people stop watching skating. Sigh.

Saaaaaaad :tumblr_inline_ncmif7esGm1rpglid:

(Not that I want any of the others to bomb, but nonsensical assignements and nonsensical judging may result in some really deserving ladies left out of gpf, and for Mai an harder fight for the olympics)

Politicking for sure. The body shaming just gets me though, because it's not something the girl can change and she is gorgeous and it shouldn't matter one bit in her skating but it does, and such is the world where this sort of stuff can slip by under the guise of 'subjectivity'.

I guess it's too much to expect them to start pushing her just a little now that she's in the GPF? (she is, right? can someone confirm?) I'm so outraged and sad... this is such bullshit

Not yet but likely. Sigh.

I'd like to ask you or to the others why following you JSF is pushing so much for Shoma, when Japan already has a man well capable to podium at the main international events and OGM, and do not push so much for the ladies, one of which, if scored properly, could land easily on those podiums as well.

I'm annoyed. Alina's PCS should've been lower, Wakaba's should have been higher in relation to Alina's, Mai was robbed.

ISU really needs to fix PCS scoring because this is a load of crap.

i think this is it. That's the answer. JSF dont really push for wakaba and mai. They just sat back and throw all the ladies to battle each other without any politics and just... watch. They dont care who, anyone who survive the battle will do. And that could be great and fair, but the result is that they all got robbed on PCs bc others push for their ladies A LOT. They should've realize what potentials they have and push just a lil bit more. (Maybe they got mad bc technically mai and wakaba are the ones who lost the 3rd spot? but gee they just turn senior last year!)

Judging.  Without a way to really distinguish between the skaters technically apart from URs and edge calls  (unlike the men with their different quads/combos), it's the other, more debatable stuff that makes the difference and that stuff can be played around with by the judges. I think it will get worse unless ladies start bringing in more difficulty to make results more obvious... work on your 3As, 3loop combos, girls.... because you can't count on your pcs being judged accurately....
