lajoitko
In the newest in the loop podcast there is some interesting speculation about the Worlds from a Swedish person. From 51 minutes. (There is also some stuff about Yuzu earlier but they are focusing on the covid aspect of the competitions.)
Melodie
Dunno if this will give any indication but wouldn't it be weird for just one national team to not be sent? Granted, short track speed skating is not as highly prioritized as FS, still...

After super spreader short track(?) event many of their skaters either were sick or quarantined, so they had to cancel their nats.

By the way, yesterday a "journalist" was claiming that no one is forcing athletes to compete. (As if there weren't any pressure in a pre-olympic season ). Today JSF chairman says they "have to" send their skaters because of Olympic spots. This is blackmail at this point. Only feds who don't have any chance to get more than 1 spot will dare to WD And it sounds like they won't reconsider unless they get massive WD by March? yumeaki
Is there no way they can think out of the box to find an alternative way to decide on Olympic spots? Oh what was I expecting...

Can they be any more blatant??? But also, yep, only two scenarios can lead to the cancellation of WC: Sweden has the ball to cancel it (hah!) or all the feds have the ball to not send their athletes altogether (big hah!) Pink Elephants
How would the Worlds team work for countries that didn't even have nationals this season (like the Koreans), do they just send whoever had the best ws last year or what? I'm hoping naively isu change their minds and just cancel it, it's not worth the risk imo
monchan
I alr expect a super spreader event. It's not World championship of Figure skating anymore, but World championship of COVID cases. The battle is not on the ice, but after the skaters go home and get their COVID tests
