ISU remains a mess. wow.

I hope this raise is not for financial reasons/ attempting to shorten broadcasting times or something. It‘s incredibly suspicious that they‘ve raised the minimum at this timing.

Of course it is. I just hope the girls affected, and then some more, can get minimums at Euros or senior B events before deadline. Especially three girls who were only ones from their countries before, Grm, Sauter and Matos.

I hope all of them will get mins and show ISU middle finger by that

After watching Euros, RusNats, CanNats and checking scores from USNats (I couldn;t stand watching it), seeing how things are played there, listening to this awful commentary (Tracy is an expection) and dealing with all the media narration, some interviews etc. --> I wish Asian countries/feds said bye bye to ISU and entered its own independent league. Financially it could even be a better deal. I would die for it. I know there are some flaws there but there's also skating that can compensate those flaws. In America&Europe it's unbearable for me at this moment I'm afraid.

*It's only an utopian dream and a joke, but wouldn't that be great..

Sorry, but it I read it as there are not any good skaters outside of Asia in your opinion, and all non-Asian skaters got nothing but fake commentary and inflated scores going for them. And Asian skaters are above them all. That is just not true.

I get irritation but this is so not the way.

I don't think that they aren't good skaters there, but the narration and scoring standards does not let me enjoy any competition, because it puts skating in the shadow of politics + events are presented in very irritating way. And I;m not a kind of person that can just enjoy skating and ignore the rest although I wish I would. There are many non-Asian skaters that I love, but not sure if I can continue to watch competions with the way they are held. I have crisis :)

To be clear, as I mentioned at the end - it was not on a serious note, just fantasy based on my current frustration. On a serious note, of course it should not happen and surely won't.

Edit: I decided to hide my previous post not to cause unnecesary discusion on my silly, impulsive note. Sorry for that :)

Nothing changed since 6.0 tbh, it was, is and will be like that, I don't think it is any worse now than it was  there always were the chosen ones. Thankfully I can mostly enjoy good skating despite of that, even if I'm also frustrated a lot

Good for you :) I actually feel the change after switching from +3 to +5 system, it's more close to 6.0. now, scores ar more dependent on judges marks, so all the issues got escalated. But it's not only judging, it's also PR around skating, the events are held and promoted in a way as some TV shows, very pop style, artificially creating big emotions - that is really iritating for me, I have a feeling that quality skating is lost in all of that. But it's of course only my personal taste.

here's the fundamental structure of the problem:

either you put more weight on the subjective (GOE and PCS) marks, or more weight on BV.

the problem with putting too much weight on BV is that there's not enough reward for anything that isn't landing a hard jump and people who are good at things that aren't landing hard jump can't compete on their strengths

the problem with putting to much weight on GOE and PCS is that you give way too much power to determine placements to judges, who are terrible at their jobs and will just give it to whoever is being politicked/whoever has a stronger reputation

pre-Pyeongchang, we had the first problem. now we have the second problem. you're either going to have the first or the second problem, unless you fix the judging. in both cases, skaters who are strong at GOE/PCS but don't have political backing are screwed

I'm curious what do you think of that situation - it happened on recent Art on Ice show:

I actually have no words... Mindless and tasteless epathesis of male nudity in the context of all recent sexual abusement stories... Some French skaters are there, and all above - Cipres lifting Paganini. Does anybody really finds it atractive, funny or simply ok? This community just continues to fail me and it seems they can't learn anything at all.

Also, some IG comments, like Jimmy Ma's: "Put that pussy on the pedestal"

Well, I don't have a feeling of "male nudity" here, but I really don't understand why he's still invited by skating shows. From what I understand it was not just a thoughtless answer to an "unknown admirer" without imagining she could be a minor. It seems there was something darker at stage there. What was Ciprès' part in it, I have no clue, the only one who necessarily knew all was the girls' coach who asked them to require this pic, but he seems to have known at least, that he was sending it to a 13-year-old. :-(
