Given the timing, maybe GP series might proceed, perhaps with no audience? Might negatively affect programs or skaters that feed off the crowd.

In Yuzu's case I wouldn't be too worried about him skating in front of empty rinks. I think, the aura would be similar to Parisienne Walkways in Jordan's On Ice Perspectives. It's unusual, but Yuzu totally sold that program to me in the video.

In a way it would be very interesting to see a performance like Notte Stellata in complete silence with no audience.

Imagine the gala with dimmed lights and little Swanyu skating on the ice with one spotlight following him... :softYuzu:

However. Competition without Pooh-rain wouldn't be the same. Also, the flower kids would have nothing to do, if no one threw gifts on the ice... That would be really sad.

I might agree, he also always mention that skates for those in front of the TV too.

Though the costume reveal without screaming - that would be really sad.

If they put a camera man on the ice with a live feed to follow the skater around, they could have a competition without anyone having to travel at all. each skater could perform from their home rink, the judges could score via videoconference, and because the camera would be right on the ice following the skater around, any funny business in the scoring would be immediately apparent.

There should be anti-doping tests though.

For some reasons I have my doubts that the ISU is capable of arranging online judging. That means, every dinosaur of a judge and technical specialist needs a computer at home, fast internet and a judging software that sends the scores to the ISU in realtime. Ewn... :disdain:

Not to mention that US and Rus fed can't wait to fight out, who has the better software hackers to manipulate the online scoring. Poor Yuzu might end up with a negative total score in that virtual fed war.

GP series, if athletes could even find flights, would go like this:

Arrive at destination, quarantine for two weeks with no ice time, compete, return home, quarantine for two weeks with no ice time, oops missed my next assignment.

There's just no way.

The first two GPs are America and Canada, right? Can't see either country opening the borders very much for international sporting events, especially if their own national ones ones are still struggling to get going.

I don't think we will get a media day this year, when's the latest we can hear about his programs?

:offtopic2:ISU and the govt were responsible for letting the event go ahead;  research shows the areas where much bigger events held in the same week did have more Covid cases https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52797002
