Hmm...good point. I guess I'm still new to the world of figure skating and I'm more looking forward to the actual competitions. But perhaps, after I get to watch the awesome skaters skate live, I might truly appreciate just watching them skate without the competitive atmosphere.  And I just realized I can't go to the full-day practices even if I want to because I'll only be in Milan on Mar 23...

I know...but that's the earliest I can make it to Milan due to work commitments. :tumblr_inline_ncmif7esGm1rpglid::tumblr_inline_ncmif7esGm1rpglid::tumblr_inline_ncmif7esGm1rpglid::tumblr_inline_ncmif7esGm1rpglid::tumblr_inline_ncmif7esGm1rpglid::tumblr_inline_ncmif7esGm1rpglid:

So, here's a funny story...

I get a mail on the 29 december saying I officially got into the Milano volunteers program! Yay!

Then the e-mail asks to confirm the availability during the dates of the event, and asks to send the e-mail before 10 days... and I send it after 12 days because I was in China and had no access to damn Gmail there.

Now I'm dying of worrying because I fear they gave my place to someone else?? But I don't want to send them another e-mail because it's only been 5 days since I replied and the volunteers are a lot, so it might be normal... or not.

I'm DYING here!  Please send help.

It couldn’t hurt to send a follow up. It’s just one teensy extra email, I don’t think anyone will hold it against you and it might make you feel better, at least. :) Fingers crossed everything works out!

Spoiler

Dear Mur, if you ever come back to China, ping me first and let me see if I can lend you a VPN-since some are down at times, at least I can verify if the one I use is working. Gmail, google, twitter, facebook, instagram etc are all not accessible normally in China. I thought it was widely known. o_O  And usually once you enter China you can't find good VPNs either, since there's a blanket rule about private VPNs being illegal unless registered etc, so all private VPNs essentially have to be downloaded before you get into China.

It should be fine to check in with them and let them know you're just doing a follow up, especially if you explain that you lacked access to Gmail during the period they were sending emails. And just wanted to re-confirm with them since you are really eager to help as a figure skating enthusiast.

Truth is, I did know that they weren't accessible, and at some point during the journey I gave up on trying to reach the outside world, lol, because... it was a crazy trip! We didn't sleep, we ate at weird hours, we had flights every day and concerts every night... I honestly stopped thinking about my normal life in Italy, hehe... so actually it's a little my fault, lol.

Ohh, I hope everything will be fine! Fingers crossed :tumblr_inline_n18qrbDQJn1qid2nw:

I wonder where the best section to buy practice tickets would be. It looks like a lot of people are planning on going but maybe some of that is people who bought all event tickets. I'm on the short side for SP, FS, and gala and would really like to be able to watch from the long side but it seems the only seats available are quite a way back. How much further down could I expect to sneak if I were to get those tickets? At NHK the arena seats weren't connected to the stands and had a separate entrance. Would that be the case here, too? I really just want to be as close as possible. :10636614: Maybe I should go begging all event package people for their practice tickets.

In Helsinki they almost didn't even check your tickets at the sector entrance during comps  during practice you could seat everywhere unless the ticket holder comes. Usually there are more people near skating entrance and at the judges side but it's not a problem to sneak closer at the other sides. And a lot of people are coming only on Wednesday and other days practices will begin very early so not everybody will come.

Thanks for the info! I’ll prepare for musical chairs, then!

Hmmm, I wonder now if judges side or just as close as possible. I think I might be indecisive to the point of insanity. Please can I just be God so I can watch from every angle at every distance?

Depends on how many practices will be at the main rink. Then you can seat at different sides. But for Seimei I'd prefer judges side at least once (if not too far of course).

For the practice days, I got A30 second row on the first day and B13 second row on the second day. It would be nice to have freedom to sit wherever, though, as I picked those just because they were closest to the ice... (all event is A28 second row... so pretty far from both KnC and judges side. But, again, front seats won >.<) I really do hope we can try picking seats... (and if I can't find any good enough, I can always go back to my place :P) We could also stay in touch and let each other know if we find available seats somewhere good and such...
